Flat Diver Makes You Happy

This fragrance deserves my first review because it has done something to me that no other scent has achieved to this extent: It has evoked an association in me. And I would like to share this with you: Imagine you are on a beautiful sandy beach in Corsica, on an old wooden pier covered with algae and seaweed, holding your nose into the salty breeze, taking a deep breath, and making the flat dive of your life. That’s exactly where I found myself while testing this fragrance. The longevity is average to good, the projection is above average. The only notes I can’t pick out, like the absinthe and the nuoc-mam (the Vietnamese dipping sauce), are probably beyond my expertise.

In love with a cocaine sailor

It starts with a hint of citrus, wherever that may come from. This light citrus note submerges after just a few seconds, only to occasionally peek out like a shy mermaid, quickly retreating again.
Then a very beautiful scent develops, which I believe can also be worn wonderfully by women.
I don’t pick up on the salt at all, nor anything fishy. However, I also don’t detect the salt in Idole Aura.
What I do perceive is a pleasant spiciness and subtle freshness. I constantly have to sniff at my wrist; it won't let me go.
I also fancy that I can smell the chili from Nuoc Cham sauce. But in a pleasant way, not sharp. Somehow, there’s also an association forming with sandy seabed, which is indeed present as sand in the base note.
The packaging and bottle are beautiful. Sailor, I am yours!

Addendum: In humid air or rain, this scent particularly shines, as I could observe due to the weather of the past few days.

Addendum II: I’ve used the 4711 Remix 2020 as a "base scent" after showering or even just like that. First the cologne, then cocaine sailor: I think the two harmonize very well.

Rammstein meets Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Rammstein's new fragrance follows the tradition of being a scent that brims with individuality and makes no claim to be a daily office fragrance. It's another building block in the growing Rammstein perfume library, which I enjoy collecting every single one of. Such creativity and progress in development I usually only know from a floor above, from creators like Tom Ford or Birkholz. So far, there hasn't been a single "Aqua di Commerciale" among them. Remarkably consistent in its concept focus and not succumbing to quick cash grabs. I don't need to like every single fragrance, but I appreciate the consistency of the overall brand. I believe I can see that the scents are slowly becoming a bit more wearable (starting from Zwinger), but the path is being taken very cautiously. Even Seemann still has teeth and bites quite well.

Seemann opens with a salty seawater note, followed by fresh algae and a stiff sea breeze - much fresher, but also more rugged than the usually sweeter aquatics like Aqua di Gio or Cool Water. You can pinpoint many natural oils, and the generously used Ambroxan is of good quality - probably Ambrostar or something in that weight class.
In the drydown, I feel like I'm sniffing a freshly harvested coral from the sea (anyone who has done this will agree with me and know that the scent fascinates and simultaneously overwhelms). Not for the faint of heart - but simply awesome and rare to smell this way in a perfume. With Rammstein, I almost expect such a little rule-breaking.

The only fragrance that comes to mind that tends to fall in this direction is from Orto Parisi and is called Megamare - although 100 ML costs significantly over €250 - and with Megamare, I unfortunately lose my breath because it has extremely concentrated Ambroxan. With Seemann, you can still inhale enjoyably. Strong scent. I hope the creativity at Rammstein never wanes and that more bold releases follow.

Deep waters are not still...

... This powerful aquatic fragrance comes around the corner. Whether one takes a liking to it probably depends heavily on the experiences one has had with rough waves. This scent feels exactly like that - it starts salty and herbaceous and radiates very well at first. Over time, it becomes a bit fresher - however, at no point is it particularly sweet. A great fragrance! This rough wave can indeed evoke memories of an autumn walk in Denmark.

The Great Ostsee Fragrance

The first time I applied the sailor at Rossmann to my wrist and sniffed it. Result of the first impression: "Why is there old aquarium water in there?"
Okay, I thought to myself, like with all the Rammstein fragrances: "Come on, give it a little time."

So I did. After a quarter of an hour, it still smelled like musty old saltwater, and I thought, "Hey, this smells exactly like when you're on vacation standing on the pier in Binz in the morning (in autumn)."

I didn't buy it and drove home again. Disappointed, I mumbled, "Today you didn't win me over, Rammstein."

When I got home, I smelled my wrist again and noticed how drastically this fragrance had changed. The mustiness faded away, freshness began to emerge more and more, and ta-da!

Suddenly, it was just a light to medium salty scent that brought an aquatic freshness with it. I found it great, and at the same time, I was annoyed that I would have to make the trip again........
