The only fragrance you'll ever need!!!!
A couple of months ago, I purchased my first Monegal fragrance, "Impossible Iris", which i still consider a great scent. Constantly searching through fragrantica and parfumo.com, i stumbled upon an article that mentioned the new release of a Monegal fragrance, which was "Dubai Next to me". When i first saw the note breakdown, i was instantly convinced that i must own this fragrance. Unfortunately, the only possible way was to get it from Dubai.
I called the sales associate at department stores and boutiques with no help. Finally i was in contact with a friend who travels to Dubai and had asked them when they were coming back to the States. The individual told me April 10th. I explained to him my dilemma with the fragrance, and long and behold, i probably own one if not the only bottle in the States. After 2 months, the day finally came... And gents, this fragrance is beyond description.. It is Unbelievable.. Right off the bat you can smell the peach and the coconut, and the dry down continues with the same notes and some leather and oud.. To die for.....

Fruity and citrusy balsamic scent
Next to me is a very good fragance. It is true that this is something that i have smelt before, but in parts, although i think the whole fragance is original. The opening remember me to fragances like habit Rouge by Germain and the dry down is more like Eva Kant by o'driu. The smell is intense but is not intrusiva at all so i think that this is really and incredibly versatile. It has a fruity vibe, with some freshness, with the coconut, the Peach, the melón and some citrus notes i think. Then comes a soft rose over balsámic notes like incense and labdanum, with a very subtle oud and leather back. Good for everyday use or even for night time and totally unisex

Orient modern
I can't say for sure whether Dubai Next to Me is a true oriental fragrance, as I haven't delved deeply enough into the prevailing scent preferences there. The few excursions I've made into original oriental perfumery have been, with a few exceptions, rather unsatisfactory for my taste. Moreover, I simply don't like fragrance oils, as I don't enjoy the consistency on my skin and find the application rather cumbersome.

Based on these limited experiences, I find Dubai Next to Me to be less authentically oriental than Florblanca; rather, I think many influences have found their way into the composition by Ramón Monegal.

Like the city, the scent also strikes me as quite modern, as it contains many currently popular fragrance notes.

The top note is quite European, in my opinion. A peppery fruit mix on a spicy coconut base dominates the scent for the first 30 minutes. Normally, I don't like such fragrances, but here the right blend has been achieved for my taste.

The heart is then more dominated by smoke. The floral accord remains more in the background but is strong enough to take away the sacred effect of the incense.

In the base, I can't perceive any oud, but rather a lot of leather, creamy sandalwood, and a slightly sweet note that I would attribute to tonka bean.

The projection of Dubai Next to Me can easily compete with any 80s fragrance. One spray is enough to fill our entire apartment with the scent, and if you take two, you leave a monster trail behind you. As for longevity, I think everyone can imagine how that turns out. I just say: "Like crazy!"

Although I really like this Monegal, I must say that I wouldn't want to smell like this permanently, although I can't say why.

Dear Flor, thank you very much for the opportunity to get to know this Monegal.

The Orient Up Close
Can a European perfumer create a fragrance that fully meets oriental standards? Absolutely! Why not? He just needs to internalize the passion of the Orient, know and hit the right taste, and collaborate with Orientals who approve the fragrance creation with their Dubai noses. And he must possess the passion to create scents that place special demands on him, fragrances that require all his skill, passion, and creativity.

With Dubai Next to Me, Ramón Monegal has succeeded in creating such a fragrance.

Although I cannot claim that I like the scent - I simply don't have an oriental nose, I am an absolute European - I can appreciate its value. I can easily imagine it on a sheikh, or rather on a man who is an Oriental through and through.

For those gentlemen who might have concerns regarding coconut, peach, melon, etc. - I can dispel those concerns. It doesn't smell anything like those. The opening is very herbal and peppery to my nose and lasts a long time.

The roses blend so well with the smoky, resinous heart that they do not stand out but provide a gentle background. I cannot perceive any jasmine.

The base shines like the groomed coat of an Arabian horse, reddish-brown and warm, with a bitter touch of leather and the dry, bitter oud note.

Dubai Next to Me is not pleasing or adjusted. The fragrance stands for itself and chooses its wearer, not the other way around. Therefore, the wearer should possess enough self-confidence to wear such a strong, in this case truly oriental, scent.

Since it does not suit my taste, I find it very difficult to rate it. However, I think I can confidently give it 80%, as it certainly deserves it.

Dubai Next to Me was exclusively created for Bloomingdale's Dubai and is offered there. It is also available directly in Barcelona at Ramón Monegal's in-house perfumery.

Next Destination Dubai
Now Next to Me has joined my other fragrances

I tested it here extensively with a little accident.

While decanting a sharing, I accidentally spilled about 5 ml over my thigh and wrist due to circumstances I don't necessarily want to explain.

What I can say about it is, it went badly, all the way to the back of my knee.

But
the scent is truly unobtrusive even in larger amounts.
Everything is very softly intertwined.

Complexity through the top-heart-base accords
The scent progression is varied. It starts with a fruity opening.
I really believe I can perceive the melon, with a hint of coconut.

After about 1 hour, the sillage transforms into a very delicate cloud. Like after a sandstorm, the oud base remains pleasantly directional.

Everything turns into a noble rose cream powder made of cashmeran and tonka.

I think even at 40 degrees in the desert state, the scent can be worn without becoming heavy.

The whole thing definitely works with just a few spritzes.

Next to Me could be my signature scent, such is the quality and versatility. But what I have to highlight is the elegance of this perfume.

A gently leathery, yet rather smooth and creamy/sweet oriental spicy-woody Spring fragrance, balanced by an uplifting spicy-fruity opening.

Citrus-fruity balsámic fragance over a balsámic back mixed with a subtle oud/leather mixture. It has also a delicate flowery vibe. Versatile

Brings many different nuances (floral-fruity, fine-smoky, slightly oudy, sweet etc.) harmonically together. A beautiful Monegal!

It is oudy-fruity-smokey-floral. There is a sweetness in it that makes it unisex but i believe its better for men. Very beautiful scent.

Oud, incense, leather...none of that here. Instead, it's a spicy hair spray sandalwood. Quickly annoying and artificial like Erba Pura. Just okay.

A fine scent.
Ripe fruit paired with spices, the rose makes an occasional appearance, Oud is subtle and not intrusive.
Not a blind buy.
