Siesta Ramón Monegal 2023

This is sweet, smooth and warm. It gives me the embodiment of a warm tea with sweet frothy milk. It doesn’t smell like tea itself, but it gives the comfort of one, but manages to be sexy at the same time, and not to mention strong! I put on two sprays to test and it was radiating off of me as if I had done way more. This is heavy on the Iris, vanilla and tonka and will announce your presence when you step in the room. I will wear it sparingly until Autumn arrives. I can just imagine how cozy it will be during that time of year. I am really surprised that I haven’t heard more about this perfume because it’s really that good!

Let me start off by saying I am from Slovakia. In my country, similar to other countries in Central Europe, siesta is not a thing. We don't nod off after having lunch. I think, however, that it's a pretty cool tradition. Since it's not a tradition in Slovakia, I must enjoy my siesta in another way - in a liquid way!

Every time I spritz on some of this perfume, I feel relaxed. It sedates me. This perfume is packed full of iris, but it's not really a powdery iris, it smells more like buttery cookies to me. This, combined with the honey accord, vanilla and tonka bean does wonders to my nose! There is also a top note of heaven, that makes the perfume a bit lighter in the beginning, but the freshness fades quite rapidly. The sillage and longevity are really good, this stuff decorates my skin for 8+ hours.

Regarding the packaging, it is just great! The boxes feel nice, but the bottle is on another level. I have never seen a bottle that is so satisfying to work with. The way you can open and close it with a gentle flick is extraordinary - a truly 10/10 presentation. It is inspired by an inkwell and it can really decorate a shelf.

It's so hard to find something that's out of the box these days, and there's so much on offer in any niche, designer, or Arabic world—that it's impossible to know much, and most of the things I try are forgettable. that it is impossible to know much and most of the things I try are forgettable, very few are good and from time to time I meet something memorable, like what happened to me with Siesta. The first of its virtues is the occasion of use, it is a scent suitable for everything, although it could be left to rest at very high temperatures. Another virtue: the composition, takes the lucidity of lemon, with a fairly prolonged release that mixed with vanilla and honey gives a very pleasant dessert sensation, a very prolonged middle phase as well, more woody, with a creamy iris although not the protagonist, well perceptible, but the softness and creaminess of Siesta is something that surprises me, decaying in a more subtle way at the end. Siesta is the calm of a homey afternoon, the dessert baking at snack time, the close and cozy company.

Siesta - how beautiful is this scent?
Some time ago, I read about this fragrance and just the ingredients made me ecstatic. Honey, lemon, lavender... Only now could I test the scent and I am blown away....
The bottle is green glass with the typical Monegal flip cap, very cool. Heavy and high-quality, yes, I like that.
When spraying, you experience a completely beautiful, zesty lemon note, not bitter or sour at all, just deliciously lemony. Gradually, woods join in. I don't detect the honey at all; there is something sweet, but not lab honey, I can't define it. Cedar and vetiver bring a contemplative vibration, calming and positively serene.
My concern that the scent might be too masculine for me did not prove to be true. Through and through unisex, the well-perceptible scent veil settles on the skin and makes me all giddy. I want to keep smelling it. On me like a second skin, clearly there, but not sweet or heavy and certainly not dominant. I believe the scent also has good projection. On my skin, I smell Siesta for many hours into the late evening, on my clothes even the next morning. By the way, I find the musk in the fragrance beautiful. No scratchy musk or bazaar musk like in many oriental scents, no, soft and very sexy.
For me, this scent is one of the best releases of 2023, it has pleasantly surprised me.
I would love to have it around me or smell it on other people.

After a long time, it seems it's finally time for a review...

I let myself be seduced by a fragrance once again - though with this scent, it isn't really hard - and thus traveled to a foreign land.

40 degrees. Blistering heat.
I had already been out all morning. The heat was becoming unbearable. It was time for a lunch break. "I'm completely drenched in sweat. Working at 40 degrees is simply impossible," I thought to myself.
Then I finally saw it! A shady spot under an old lemon tree. "That should provide me with enough shade!" crossed my mind. So I lay down on one of the many roots, already marked by the age of the tree. "Surprisingly soft and pleasant here...". "But what do I hear in the distance? Sounds somehow like bees, which are just feasting on the freshly bloomed flowers."
I couldn't close my eyes fast enough in the tempo at which they fell shut from the exhausting, sweat-inducing work.

When I woke up again, it was already afternoon. Surprisingly, the heat had actually subsided. So I set off on my way again and enjoyed the wonderful scents that lingered in the air. I wanted to continue my work on a day when it was more bearable.
