This must be the scent that Bon Jovi had in his nose in 1992 while he was composing "I wanna lay you down in a bed of roses". Because it is the softest rose fragrance I know. These roses have no thorns. You want to let yourself go on a bed of roses like this. Let go of everything, think nothing and just enjoy.
Rose is my favorite scent. I love masculine rose fragrances, e.g.
Safari for Men Eau de Toilette or
Acteur Eau de Toilette. Generally speaking, the more creamy, soft or sweet a rose fragrance is, the less I like it. One of the exceptions is "Mukhallat al Oudh" (MaO).
Because here the creaminess/softness is not greasy, but still woody and spicy enough not to be considered a cashmeran bomb. The fragrance is certainly opulent, but I don't see it as pompous. I could understand if other noses felt differently. The borderline to pompousness is indeed not far away.
Sweetness is accountable in a fragrance, I think. I don't categorically reject sweetness; it can certainly have its right to exist. But only if it fulfills a purpose in a fragrance. - The sweetness in MaO doesn't bother me, it fits in with the wintery comfort, warmth and cosiness that this fragrance symbolizes for me. Its sweetness is ambery and almost gourmand. Although honey smells a little different, it is not far removed from the fragrance aura. The fantasy note "praline" is understandable. All in all, I think that the sweetness here is due to a resinous and sweet amber accord.
Sandalwood is a difficult note, as many Parfumo participants can confirm. In this fragrance, it is wonderfully used to support the soft, woody, creamy impression. Fortunately, this fragrance note is not too strong here, so that you are not reminded of sawdust or the fragrance becomes dusty. - I am glad that oud or creaky woody notes such as cypress or cedar have been avoided. Instead, it is an ambery rose-sandalwood fragrance. Fabulous.
Everything about this fragrance is perfectly balanced. Even if I could, I wouldn't change the fragrance controls here. And that's saying something, because I would always like to make a few adjustments to any fragrance.
Admittedly, the low price has long prevented me from adequately appreciating the fantastic effect and quality of this fragrance. Perhaps it was also because I was a little suspicious of a fragrance oil. But I think that's just a matter of getting used to it. In any case, this fragrance is elegant and sophisticated. With appropriate brand packaging, it could easily be sold for well over 200 euros.
In general, it gives me pleasure to find an excellent and affordable fragrance. That's why
Grey Flannel Eau de Toilette is my profile picture. Because I don't want to support the scam of some brands to price mediocre fragrances at dizzying prices. In my opinion, it takes much more understanding of perfumes and courage to recognize a downright cheap fragrance as great and to wear it with self-confidence.
Even if the rose cuddle blanket discussed here certainly has its main area of application in the cold season, it delights me on this balmy summer evening. Because it is soft, but not greasy or slimy; rosy, but not overloaded; sweet, but not sticky. So now I'm listening to "Bed of Roses" and luxuriating in my olfactory blanket. Haaach, beautiful...
