Reformulation Insanity!

A word of advice to all of the fragrance houses of the world, "IFRA has ZERO authority"!!! They can only >recommend< that you not use Oakmoss and other ingredients in your fragrances, they have ZERO power or authority to make you stop using certain ingredients!!! Don't allow the wanna-be dictators at IFRA to ruin your fragrances, your reputations and your business! Once-great works of art are now an absolute disgrace due to reformulations. Reformulations that never had to happen to begin with! ( IFRA has NO AUTHORITY! )
STOP THE INSANITY! Stop bending over backwards to please IFRA and start making amazing fragrances once again to please the CONSUMERS! You now have millions of disappointed and disgusted consumers who have had it up to here with being ripped off with the endless cheap and chemical reformulation disasters! We are so sick and tired of it!!! Start using the old ingredients again and tell IFRA to FV(K OFF!

Cream is the word

On first spray I immediately get a lovely concoction of creamy spice, creamy lavender, and creamy sandalwood. Then oakmoss and very smooth leather reveal themselves slowly. I consider it a creamier version of YSL Jazz, which preceded it by 4 years. As creamy an affair as this is, it never verges on unisex like, say, YSL La Nuit de L'Homme does. Safari leans more towards gentlemanly, rather than manly. It could easily be used as an office scent, but it can also be rocked on more formal occasions.

The current formulation of Safari lasts 3 hours tops on my skin, while this Cosmair era bottle easily lasts twice as long - still not the beast mode that vintage snobs will tell you about, but it'll do just fine.

Masculinity Level: Faceman from A-Team always retaining a certain level of elegance, no matter the situation.

Anyone else love this stuff??

I have the fondest memories of this fragrance. Something about it takes me back and I think of wanting to be grown before my time. It is still a beautiful scent to me. The leather undertones and the aldehydes are a great combo in this. The new formulation is definitely different, but it’s still close enough for me to love it. I think it works anytime other than the heat of summer. The leather and wood notes ground it for the cool weather and the citruses and florals are bright enough for spring. All in all I still love it. Not sure how much of that is nostalgia and how much is actually the fragrance. Please reply if you love this fragrance or also have fond memories of this one. I’m a newbie here but look forward to being a part of the community!!

Safari for Men (Vintage Cosmair) -

Is there a 2 thumbs up rating? When a "blue aquatic" walks into the room, Safari turns, squints and folds its arms as the bloody varmint skulks back to whilst it came!

Safari is not a "men's fragrance" it is a fragrance for MEN, period. Toss your razor and use the splash bottle, because you are not afraid to over apply this juice.

Oldschool barbershop scent

I've only bought a bottle due to nostalgia, from a gift set I got back in 94'.
Since I'm not a fan of lavender, this is an uphill battle for me, but over the last year I have grown to like it a bit more. I get lavender, aldehydes, citrus (bergamot), some spices and a base of leather.
To me, it's like a oldschool manly barbershop type of fragrance. Not my normal style or taste, but have been reaching for it more than I thought I would.
The bottle itself is beautiful. I can't speak to any reformulations, as I can only say it smells like I remeber it from some 20+ years ago.
For me, it's a scent for the late summer / early fall - when it's still a bit warm. Can be used in the spring/winter as well. Mostly see it as an casual fragrance, but can be used in the office - just don't overspray it. I'm doing max. 3 sprays, any more and it would choke me.
I would not recommend this one for the younger crowd, but the more mature/older person, who is looking for that oldschool barbershop vibe.
