The surrealism of a perfume.
Since surrealism is one of my favorite currents in art and Dali is on the top ten list of favorite peinters, I, blindly, ordered this perfume de toilette a couple of years ago without knowing how much I would love it and , so far, I tried to save it as much as I could for fear that it might go out of production. It is still made and I started purchasing the bottles wherever I find them.
The scent is a good representation of Dali's personality, i.e it starts strong, dissipating the clove and frankincense with such a generosity that you have to hold your breath. The rose starts sparkling and comes to rest on the soft bed of oakmoss and musk. The accord is beautiful.
Although it is presented as a Perfume de toilette, its strength is the one of an eau de parfum and the sillage is great without disturbing. Amazing scent and unique in the carousel of new fragrances who seem to have lost their personality.

Anytime is Rut Time!
Women´s Line is one of the oldest Dali fragrances that the master himself also worked on, and it smells just like that! Women´s Line is either loved or hated from the very first sniff, either worshipped or deeply despised. WL is a treasure in my collection, but even though I am a big Dali fan, I will (almost) no longer be acquiring new releases, as many are just adapted mainstream!
WL is, well, I don’t want to go below the belt or do I?
I could bet that there is civet in here (even though it’s not listed). Ha, silly civet, from the cute little civet cat (which, by the way, is now only produced synthetically). This is glandular secretion from Panthera leo!
Only spray WL if you are really willing, but the old man has a migraine again! (The fragrance pyramid is NOT complete) A top-notch opening, yep, there are orange blossoms and spices in it. With that alone, a woman can get any guy who isn’t up a tree by three.
If you don’t feel like climbing around in the branches, wait until the heart note comes crashing in, then it will come down all by itself. Then there’s no neck bite, girls, but a bite in the throat. Finish him off with roses and intoxicating ylang-ylang, smash him with the bitter almond note.
Please don’t bite him to death! The best comes at the end! There you can curl up with your tomcat and enjoy the wonderful mild honey note that radiates from the moss you’re lying on, the noble woodiness, and the erotic scent of nights and rut.

Woman´s Line is a powerful, spicy chypre. Not for the faint-hearted!

New Pleasant Acquaintance
Well, I will try to stay above the belt. And when Medusa writes that you either love it or hate it, I don’t hate it, I like it. Whether it will turn into love remains to be seen.

I can’t really distinguish between the top and heart notes, and I also don’t believe that the pyramid is complete. How else could this floral abundance come across as so powdery and spicy? Now Women’s Line almost reminds me of a brighter and tamed Aromatics Elixir. More pleasing and feminine but also with a clear recognizability. I can also hear the little kitten purring comfortably, but it doesn’t turn into a predator for me. It doesn’t have to, because I find this scent beautiful just as it is. A fragrance that has oakmoss and vetiver in the base always finds a warm welcome with me, and I confess that Women’s Line just barely misses my wish list. But really only because it’s hard to obtain, and my wish list is more of a dream list anyway.

When scents were still capable of "roaring," or: The dream of the gypsy (Image by Dali)
When I was in S. today (I'm on a mini-golf vacation) and went to "Müller," searching for a completely different fragrance, I unexpectedly stumbled upon three "Dali" scents, among which was "Parfum de Toilette." I had to test it, as it had been on my watchlist for a long time, solely based on the fragrance pyramid... And I was not disappointed... Clove and incense hit you right in the face, or rather the nose. Then comes Ylang Ylang, rose, jasmine (not sweet) and some "dark" flowers, but they do not overshadow the initial notes. On the contrary, they become increasingly "full." And after what feels like an eternity, wonderfully beautiful wood, vetiver, and patchouli notes push into the "tent" where a sleeping gypsy dreams of her favorite scents, as surrealistic as the painting by the well-known "mad artist." No part of this picture is left colorless; the viewer can immerse themselves in it (if they have imagination). Just like in this fragrance. It is warm and spicy, yet cool and earthy, and just as herbaceous chypre, soft mossy, and powerfully floral. Also a bit animalistic. It seems Dali himself had a hand in this, even though he was already dead when "Parfum de Toilette" was released. But his "spirit" seems to be ever-present here. The same surrealism applies to the longevity and sillage of this perfume. They are gigantic, like the elephant on its long stilts (also a Dali painting), and have learned the lion-like roar that was characteristic of perfumes from the 80s. There is nothing softly purring sweet-fruity or monotonously mainstream. The scent has its edges and corners (like some challenging mini-golf courses), and I still have to get to know them all slowly but surely. The Women's Line Parfum de Toilette demands self-confidence from its wearer and encourages her to disregard some nonsensical rules. She can be a "rebel." Just as Dali was a "rebel" in painting. He painted what he wanted and often gave society a "long nose." And this perfume does that too, at times. Just typically Dali...

DALI old/reformulated (1983/1995)
Yes, it is still unmistakable
I am glad that this fragrance is still available for purchase,
Very spicy, green chypre and incense-heavy, great.
I remember it from the past, of course unrefomulated.
But rest assured, you will not be disappointed.
The only thing missing is the myrrh, as it was quite noticeable in the old (Women's Line)
version.
Longevity is good, sillage too (great bottle, beautiful cartonage) and for €22 incredibly cheap.
By the way, it reminds me in the base of the old unrefomulated Tosca????
This little bottle always stood on my grandma's dressing table in the bedroom (the bottle with the balloon atomizer).
Whenever my twin brother and I visited, we sneaked into the bedroom where all the coats were laid on the bed when big family celebrations were coming up.
It's been a long time.
So anyone looking for a replacement for the old Tosca will find it here.
Give it a try.
By the way, I was actually always logged in under my old name JADWAG, but since I have a new email I couldn't access my old account anymore????‍♂️
Anyway, now greetings from JADIS(.... Best regards to all who still knew me here under my old name))

Huge aldehydes. Reminds Caleche Soie de Parfum, Arpege, Beautiful. Benzoin & vanilla like Tabu without spice. Successful blind buy. Smile.

It has hardly lost any of its charm through the reformulation. Oriental chypre, spicy, floral, resinous, without ever becoming sweet.
