An alternative for Code...
That's a good alternative for Armani Code.

They're very close, especially in the drydown, with lots of tonka and a touch of vetiver.

Definetely worth it's price. Thumbs up!

The Tiger in the Shed
This is the first time I’m commenting on a men’s perfume, so please, gentlemen, don’t hold it against me if I don’t handle it quite so pragmatically. Thank you.

Since I find Black Sun so appealing on my husband, but he wears it extremely rarely, he had to serve as a test subject yesterday, and I basically used my husband to write a comment for Parfumo. However, he approved this, because I can’t just use my husband without him knowing why.
It started like this: “Honey, would you please wear Black Sun today?”
He: “Why?”
I: “I think it’s so great on you!”
He: “You’re up to something!” (he knows me, the minx)
I: “You’re serving science, and I want to write a comment for Parfumo.”
So he held out his arm, and when a woman is greedy or thirsty for knowledge, she takes all 2 and generously douses them! Ahhhhhh, immediately basil appeared, and I knew right away I was cooking pasta for lunch, but those thoughts were chased away by the cedar, which made the opening immediately piney and woody.
My “test subject” didn’t want to wait and was fidgeting around. I would have preferred to tie him to the chair and even more so to the bedpost (but we don’t have one, and I’m not Sharon Stone), so he ran outside and I followed him to catch another whiff of the sage. There my former fiancé was already stacking wood, and I told him he was ruining all my scientific work because now I didn’t know if the pine resin was coming from him or the wood.

He graciously held out his arm to me; it was from him.

While he was sawing wood in the shed, the base note developed. I definitely shouldn’t startle him, or else he might saw off something. So I waited until he had turned off the circular saw and crept up. Ahhhh sweet tonka and vanilla. Honey, keep your dirty clothes on...

And that’s how I lured the tiger out of the shed....

Robust and extremely sexy is Black Sun and grrrrr.

Who says A...
...doesn't necessarily mean Armani.

At least that was my impression when, in the largest perfume forum in the USA,
Black Sun was labeled as the better Armani Code Ultimate.
Just take a chance on a blind buy, because these blind purchases are simply fun; it’s already exciting when you open the packaging and press the first spray.

With blind buys, I have had over 80% positive experiences; of course, you also read the detailed experiences of others in the forum and act accordingly.

I believe there is no Dali that smells bad, whether it's the ladies' or men's version.
Another Armani is just a cheap knockoff of a better original.

Armani Nuit Homme is a diluted version of Eau de Baux.

Since I also own 2 other Dalis, Dali Le Roy Soleil Extreme and Salvador for Men, both of which are top-notch, I wanted to see if Black Sun belongs to that category as well.

At least the tonka-vanilla is the same as in Code Ultimate, and the later development is identical.
For me, one thing is already certain: blind buys are just fun, even if you rarely end up with a flop.

Those with too much money can certainly continue to buy their Armani Code Ultimate; for me, however, the content is more important than the designer.

I cautiously opted for the 50ml size; next time, it will definitely be the 100ml.

Conclusion:

An Armani Code Ultimate flanker with a very good price-performance ratio, good longevity, and sillage.

Beware of the Flanker!
Black Sun is nothing more than a flanker of Laguna Homme for me. I owned Laguna Homme two or three times. I used it often and enjoyed it. Nothing special, a nice everyday scent for the warmer days. Not too strong, fruity, slightly sweet. It has been a few years, but I still immediately recognized the resemblance.

It’s really strange. Although you can hardly see any similarity based on the fragrance pyramid, it smells almost exactly the same, except for a slightly woody/licorice note. They must have had a few barrels of L.H. left over at the "House of Dali" ;-)

All in all: A scent that you will surely get to sniff very rarely. More of a typical bargain table representative. That shouldn't mean that it's bad.

The Black Sun - A Disappointment

At the sight of the bottle, one expects dark glimpses into a deserted landscape, undermined by rich spices, bricked up with testosterone and many hot impressions. Truly mysterious it seems, one would think, when holding the bottle in hand! The black sun, which covers and swallows everything, is a disappointment here. The scent has nothing to do with darkness and I don't find it particularly interesting either. Rather, boredom sets in - fir mixed with tonka bean, underlaid with a bit of resin. Synthetic spiciness on the edge - overshadowed by pale roses. Slightly sweet (vanilla), then a bit richer. There’s no spark here. Nothing bursts with masculinity.

In not even two sentences, the scent has been described and summarized. It clings so tightly to the nose and lingers there. Not much changes - it only becomes richer over time, but the scent itself feels neither noble, nor attractive, nor appealing, nor anything else. It’s a run-of-the-mill everyday perfume for occasions that one does not particularly appreciate or does not get anywhere with. Fine for home, but absolutely nothing more for me. My husband is also not impressed and expected much more. We both really like the bottle, and black is known to often represent the secret and the forbidden. Here, I can't paint a good picture and envision a boring businessman who just quickly splashes on a few sprays of a scent.

The sillage and longevity are very weak, leaving only a faint tone of spices and tonka beans behind. And this after less than three hours.

Even though Salvador Dali was a striking & diverse, albeit sometimes peculiar artist - this scent does not do his name justice even by 10%. A pity, I think. Because it is well packaged and we imagine the wildest scenes in our heads when we see black bottles for men. The only thing I can't complain about is the price.

The black sun is a disappointment and should actually be presented as a morning sun for everyday life. Not wrapped in black, but, if you ask me, in a pale orange or blue.

Radiant-spicy pepper, underlined by gentle sweetness. Or is it the other way around? Just Dali.
