I know that one...
For the summer, I ordered Virgin Island Water, which I was able to receive today with friends.
Included: A black little box with three samples from the "Tuscan Scent" line by Salvatore Ferragamo. My clear favorite from it is Incense Suede.
Why is that? Well, because the scent character can clearly be attributed to another perfume that I already own:
Amouage Jubilation XXV Man.
The same blackberry in the top note, referred to here as dried fruits. Along with the sour, conifer-like heart note and the oudy-smoky-oriental base.
The focus here is mainly on the blackberry, and the scent feels a bit dirtier than the Amouage (stable note), which I quite like.
In terms of complexity, quality, and performance, it doesn't come close to the original.
Still, a solid scent that attracts me mainly because of this dark temple-cellar-vault vibe, which the Amouage lacks. As I said, this one is dirtier, but unfortunately also simpler.
Since the price is also in the niche fragrance range, I would prefer to reach for the Jubilation XXV.
All in all, however, a quite successful oriental fragrance.

Leather Resins
Hey guys, today I'm commenting on the fragrance Testa di Moro, also known as Incense Suede by Salvatore Ferragamo. I had a sample of this fragrance lying around and I'm always happy when I have samples of women's fragrances :D
On the other hand, it wouldn't have been a problem to test such a fragrance in the women's section, as I no longer have such big issues testing women's fragrances in public, especially when the bottles look like this one. I do feel a bit uneasy now and then when I have to pick up a bottle that looks pretty, sweet, cute, colorful, and just very feminine, like the fragrance Signora from the same brand, which comes in a pink bottle with a cute bow. Or fragrances like Chloe, Prada Candy, or the worst of all: Juicy Couture :D (Although most fragrances from these brands smell great on me, I mean on a girl :D). But anyway, at least it's not as extremely bad as it was some time ago when I could only test fragrances in the women's section if I was wearing an invisibility cloak or something :DD

That being said, here comes Testa di Moro from the slightly more exclusive collection of Salvatore Ferragamo. It is a beautiful, resinous fragrance with leather notes, but "see" for yourself:

The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts with intense incense, which as always gives off a resinous-sweet scent and, if you like this note, smells quite good. In the background, it has an herbal-spicy aroma. There’s pink pepper, which smells both spicy and slightly fruity, and then there’s something “kitchen spice-like,” perhaps it’s the saffron that comes across as nicely spicy.
You can also distinctly smell the dried fruits, although I must admit that without the fragrance pyramid, I would never have guessed that it was dried fruits (you just don't encounter this note in enough fragrances to remember it well, but now that I know, I can say that it smells like dried plums to me, which also comes across as sweet).
A little later, you can also clearly smell the leather. Otherwise, it mostly remains with the resins and leather, as the fruity-sweet notes fade a bit into the background towards the base, making the fragrance not very sweet, and thus it comes across as more woody-leathery and spicy-resinous. Much later, the resinous and leathery notes are most prominent, while the woody and spicy scents recede a bit more. All in all, it’s quite a nice fragrance.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is strong at first, but settles into a moderate range as the fragrance develops, so you can't smell it very well from a distance, but you also don't have to get too close. The longevity, on the other hand, is significantly better, as the fragrance lasts over eight hours on the skin.

The Bottle:
The black bottle appears cylindrical, but is actually rectangular, with all sides slightly curved outward and the bottle seeming to get slightly wider in height. The brand and name are written in gold on the bottle, topped off with a cylindrical, brown wooden cap with a golden underside. A beautiful, elegantly designed bottle.

Okay, I liked the fragrance. Not so much that I feel I need to have it, as I'm not a huge fan of leather notes, but overall I find the fragrance very successful, so I would recommend testing it, especially if you like resinous and leathery notes. Because you can't really complain about the fragrance itself, except maybe that "Many-Fragrance-Tester" (sounds like an Indian name :D) might see it as one of those fragrances that have already been tested several times. But that's just how it is when you try many fragrances. It becomes increasingly difficult to find something truly new (and pleasant-smelling), but that doesn't mean that the thousandth resinous fragrance can't smell good for someone!

In terms of type, I would place it in autumn, but also in spring, as it is neither very light nor too heavy. It is unisex, although I would lean more towards the masculine side. And there’s really not much more to say, so I’ve reached the end and wish you all a lovely evening :)

Upright Walk Until the End
Could a fragrance start more beautifully than with - incense? In this case, a quick puff of white correction fluid incense; meanwhile, I suspect Elemi resin for this twist and urgently request any relevant information. Then a bright wood note briefly appears. But soon the scent becomes strongly smoky-tarry-acidic. More charred or smoked wood than leather. In style, it is close to Mona di Orio's 'Cuir', where leather is also predominantly found in the name.

In another top smoker, namely Naomi Goodsir's 'Bois d’Ascese', there is mention of smoked cedar-juniper as an ingredient. I still haven't smelled it in nature, but the mere term fits here associatively as well. The Ferragamo calms down quickly, surprisingly swiftly for a representative of this fragrance direction, and becomes comparatively elegant. Almost, at least, as it remains characteristically distinct and lasting into the evening. Therefore, it is to be suspected that the predominantly restrained volume is exactly intentional.

On the website, there is talk of the tobacco notes of mate tea. No idea how that stuff smells, but tobacco can surprisingly be interpreted into it without difficulty. Very aromatic, thus naturally unsmoked. More Brazil than Sumatra, with excellent depth and spice. Even a non-smoker can appreciate such things at this point.

From the third hour onward, the fragrance components merge a bit with each other, as if they were given a barely perceptible, creamy base. And just as an Italian suit gently envelops the body while still emphasizing it, the strong notes are carefully integrated without being trimmed in their nature or individuality of appearance.

The wood steadily darkens over time, an impression that is intensified by the resin/smoke and the subtle acidity of the as-if tobacco. Ebony, mahogany, and the like come to mind from the afternoon onward. For leather, I initially need a bit of imagination in this phase, but then it can be sensed again, even in a birch-tar-like way. After all, there are variations of it that are stylistically related to the previously mentioned colleagues.

Incense Suede remains true to its line until the end. The wood may become a bit airier from the seventh or eighth hour, but those are nuances and by no means age mellowness. No drifting into common, possibly dull base products. Upright walk until the end.

Conclusion: I hadn't had Ferragamo on my radar at all until now. Unjustly, as I now realize. Ergoproxy has packed me a real gem - thank you very much! Those who lay down around 150 euros at the perfumery with the sharp vowel at the front will be rewarded with a characteristically powerful, noble smoke-wood-tobacco-leather fragrance in an apparently very attractive bottle.

P.S.: I don't know what that has to do with Tuscany. Does the tree burn that much? The name can be irrelevant to me.

A leathery incense, spectacular, for cold climates, and with a high performance, not exaggerated, but quite good.

Elegant priest. Sacred incense and suede harmonize beautifully here. A bit too rough for me personally, but it has something.

The only scent from the brand that completely convinced me. Frankincense, leather, a hint of saffron on resinous sweetness in perfect harmony.

The incense bathed in dried fruits and a hint of saffron is extremely unique. A wish candidate, if it weren't discontinued.

Smoky, herbal, the leather was just brushed past. Is there a hint of oud in there? Or is the styrax subtly fecal?

Very nice complex top note, but as it develops, it becomes too dry and sour for me, making it a bit one-dimensional / lifeless. 7/10.

I don't find the incense here too strong. Leather. Wood, dried fruits, styrax, a bit sour, reminds me of BelAmi by Hermès.

Moderately incense-woody-mild-green-creamy at first + slightly leathery. Later, papery-mushy-waxy-milky sandalwood takes over - what a shame.
