In Jeremyn Street the…
… parallel to Piccadilly Street runs, there is the house New & Lingwood, one of the best menswear retailers in London. The door of the shop opens and a gentleman in his early 30s exits the store in his perfectly tailored suit. Over his arm, he has draped a coat, and in the other hand, he holds a typical British umbrella. He strolls down the street to meet his business partner for brunch at Gaucho Piccadilly. His appearance is so striking that both ladies and young women turn to look at him, and he is fully aware of his charisma. Simply a gentleman.

Upon applying this fragrance, one first gets a woody spicy accord that is underscored by a hint of freshness. Sweet gourmand notes blend in as well. To round out this scent, it receives an earthy dark accent with a masculine twist. This fragrance is distinctly noticeable yet simultaneously French and subtle. Thus, the gentleman transforms into a Monsieur.

The longevity and sillage are good.

Here we have a fragrance from the not very well-known house Féret Parfumeur, a scent for the Monsieur in perfection. This perfume can be worn by ladies, but I see it more suited for men. I would recommend this from mid-25 and upwards. As an all-rounder, it can be worn year-round. During the day, it can be worn in the office, at a meeting, while dining, in a café, while shopping, or at a gathering with friends, just as easily as in the evening at the opera, theater, at dinner, in an upscale club, or even at a party. However, this fragrance truly creates a “belle silhouette” when worn with a suit or even a tuxedo.

Anyone who enjoys a woody spicy fresh sweet gourmand fragrance with an earthy dark masculine twist should take a look at this little gem. Unfortunately, it is rarely available to test in a perfumery.

This is it! - Or: Elegantly clouded for every day.
Do you know the feeling? You spray on a perfume... sniff... smell... it practically crawls into your skin... and you have only one thought: THIS IS IT! Okay, you tell yourself, let's stay calm. It's just a perfume. No reason to freak out. First, analyze. And you sniff again... it practically crawls into your skin... and you have only one thought: THIS IS IT! And it repeats. After a few minutes, a few hours, again and again. Until you are internally screaming after a good 12 hours: Please stay, don't go!

Phew, this hasn't happened to me in a long time. A very long time. But Féret's L'Eau de Monsieur really blows me away. But why? Honestly, I find it hard to describe. This L'Eau is profound, with many layers that constantly shift their positions. If I had to describe it, I would say that on the first spray, I smell a bitter-spicy gentleman's nut cake. But that sounds terribly gourmand. Yet, over it, under it, wherever, there is a slightly sharp fresh pepperiness that prevents it from drifting into creaminess. In the name, we have patchouli and licorice. Yes, there are hints of those. The sharpness of the licorice, combined with the earthiness of the patchouli, if you will. And when the sharpness fades, the scent becomes woodier, earthier, spicier. Vetiver must be in play. And myrrh. In the base, after a few hours, it becomes warm and warmer, simply emanating from the skin like a deep balsamic personal scent. I love that!

Does all this sound like a heavy, sticky elixir? And that's the crazy part, this is exactly what L'Eau de Monsieur is not; rather, it is a floating cloud that elegantly surrounds the (more mature?) gentleman in every life situation. Simple. Refined. Old school. Fits. "L'Eau de Monsieur dresses you and emphasizes your elegance in everyday life. This scent will quickly become your daily reflex." - so I read on Féret's website. And indeed, the copywriters have - for once - not exaggerated!

To top it all off, Féret offers its extremely high-quality perfume at a very, very fair price. We have a fragrance oil concentration of 20%! This already places us in the in-between world of EdP and Extrait. Accordingly, fine sprays suffice for long-lasting enjoyment. And then there's the winking dandy in a light blue suit on the cream-colored box, the simple bottle with the elegant lettering. What can I say, I repeat myself: THIS IS IT!

Reminds me a bit of Héritage with pepper, tonka, patchouli, and bergamot, then becomes richer with licorice: pleasantly appealing.

Patchouli here is delicately and airy woven with spicy notes. Licorice is also gently placed, but you should like it.
A fine affair.

Masculine, spicy, yet with sweet elements. I want to flip through a book on Christmas Eve, freshly showered, and stroke my beard.
