The most realistic black coffee on the market
Easily the most realistic and long lasting black coffee scent I have ever come across in my fragrance journey so far, SM Café is beautiful debauchery. Typically when looking at coffee scents a lot of people look more so for a sweeter coffee, like a latte or cappuccino, typical café drinks. But when growing up, my dad was, and still is to this day, a huge drinker of pure black coffee. The experience of growing up with that has definitely had an effect on what I look for in coffee in fragrances, as I don’t have the same kind of attachment to sweeter coffees that others do. SM Café scratches the dark coffee itch, but this fragrance is also more than just its amazing coffee note. There’s also the really heavy leather note to complete the SM part of SM Café, and later on in the fragrance some fruits, amber, and woods join the fray in what I’m assuming is to be symbolic of finally being tempted into eating the forbidden fruit after entering the café. A wonderful dark and sensual experience the entire way through. It gets my recommendation, but remember to try before buying.

Marsellus Wallace's fragrance
This is a wild niche coffee fragrance. I think this how Marsellus Wallace must have smelled like from the accumulation of scents througout his day starting at the Inglewood strip club with the booze, the leather and tobacco filling the place, the coffee and doughnuts he brought; Butch hitting him with the car being the catalyst for this explosion of smells fueled by adrenaline and then the chase which eventually led to Maynard's pawn shop with its dungeon's leathery set-up.

This fragrance is not recommended for anyone who is looking for the easiness of wear and crowd-pleasing qualities of amboxan-heavy fragrances like Dior's Sauvage or Armani's Si. You don't wear this one expecting compliments. You wear this to make a statement.

Perfumer Prin Lomros did a masterful work on this juice offering us the best coffee fragrance on the market that I got my nose on thus far.

Dark coffee with a spicy, woody, leathery blend, nicely done
My second sampling from Strangers Parfumerie is SM Café, another coffee-named/laden entry (like Caffeine Honey, which inspired me to look into the brand), except, unlike the very sweet Caffeine Honey with, SM Café is more of a woody, spicy, leathery blend, certainly with some sweetness and coffee, but not so much a gourmand. The woody/spicy aspects are fairly well balanced against the dark coffee, too, with standout notes of leather/suede, cade, lavender, cedar, and resins.

It vaguely reminds me of 4160 Tuesdays Black Velvet Café, but spicier, maybe leaning more toward the leather chairs and spicy foods of the café, rather than the inner oaky ambience. Certainly SM Café offers something for coffee lovers who nonetheless want to stay out of gourmand territory. The sweetness in it is pretty faint. There’s a maraschino cherry note, but to me this only exists in a cherry wood concept that is subtly part of the cedar.

Overall, I think SM Café is very well done, and performs quite well, also, slightly more strongly than Caffeine Honey, and even if CH is a little more my speed, SM Café would be nice to own, I dare say.

SM Café is priced for $80 for 30ml in EDP concentration, and is sold in the US via Luckyscent and Canada via Indiescents, both great sites that ship internationally.

Cherry done sensually
Wow this was such a sensual scent!!! Roasted coffee beans, with a touch of leathery cream, no sugar. The cherries add a dark fruity air and there’s lot of booziness here. A truly beautiful blend that’s atmospheric of a brooding coffee shop that serves their lattes with a shot of liquor, with leather booths, suede chairs, and cherry pies in the display window.

A fine cup of coffee
SM Café is possibly one of the most successful coffee-based perfumes out there, and I say that as someone who rarely thinks that coffee-scented anything works (apart from the real thing itself of course). The SM in SM Café stands for sado-masochism, but there's nothing really risqué about this nicely-balanced dance between the intense, burnt flavor of freshly-roasted coffee beans and the clean sweetness of wood, musks, and amber resin. The coffee does smell undeniably dirty and grungy, but it's more the funk of damp coffee grounds you're cleaning out of the pot than anything S&M or leather related, and anyway it all gets balanced out by the milky ambers and beeswax in the base.

Although not terribly fruity, the sour morello cherry accent and the coumarin add a certain pipe tobacco angle to the concoction that I find broadly handsome - it also makes SM Café the indie synonym for Close Up by Olfactive Studio. But truth be told, SM Café is far more austere and masculine-leaning; in overall orientation, far closer to the dusty, burnt, 1970s character of Coze by Parfumerie Generale than to the sweetened coffee-tobacco of Close Up.

A bit messy. Cherry, cocoa, leather, terpentine. All that in the opening. After that: just wood.

Marzipan + coffee, boozy vibes. Not very dark or leathery in my opinion.

This is a rare miss from Prin for me: all I get on my skin is strong coffee with baked piss undertones :D A delicacy I do not desire.

While it falls short of the scandalous inspiration perfumer draws from (Marquis de Sade), this is a great statement coffee & leather scent.

A slightly fruity, yet warm and resinous oriental-leathery Fall fragrance, with a pronounced smoky spicy-earthy opening. Male-oriented.

Sweaty leather and roast coffee. Barista in a sex dungeon. But a classy one.
