scotch peat strangers parfumerie
very nicely complex and interesting perfume by Prin Lomross.
sweet and warm, a bit woody, in my opinion rich in olfactory sensations.
however, i don't smell Scotch whiskey at all, it's completely non-alcoholic ;)
on my skin, sillage and projection are not exceptional, but it is a great scent that I like to feel on myself.

Peat moss, booze, spices, resins, florals--a great dark and spicy ensemble.
Sampling Strangers Parfumerie Scotch Peat, a fittingly earthy, spicy, woody, slightly boozy mix, with a lengthy note list, but featuring peat moss, barley, hay, lavender, resins, dried fruit, cypress. It both transports me to the woods in winter and gives me the vibes of tavern or distillery, with liquor and food notes, both sweet and savory. It has a whole lot of character and is very strong. It incorporates the various ideas and genres without being too intense in any one particular respect, yet the result is still pretty intense overall, but dries down to be more subtle, very gradually, over a few hours but I’m very pleased with the composition and performance. Yet another great winner from this house.

Scotch Peat is priced at $80 for 30ml, the standard EDP pricing for the line, and is sold at Luckyscent and Indiescents.

Expectations: Octomore
As an inclined whisky lover, especially in the realm of Islay and thus predominantly smoky distillates, I ask you to hit me with the smoke in the face as if there’s no tomorrow!

Well, goodbye expectations, smoky is only very subtle with this sweet-gourmand representative that has old-school vibes. Quite similar to Johnnie Walker Red, which theoretically contains a smoky component from Caol Ila, but it's so minimal that no one should be able to consciously perceive it. But what’s going on here? After all, both labdanum and peat, not to mention smoke itself, are listed as notes.

Am I perhaps nose-blind here, as I was regarding the smoke in Baraonda Extrait de Parfum and "Nudiflorum (Extrait de Parfum) | Nasomatto," which I initially found to be quite smoky for a considerable time?
It is boozy. And quite robust and unembellished. Smooth in the nose and herbal in appearance. Nice.

Scotch Peat. Not my first fragrance from Prin Lomross, but my first bottle. And after the amount of preamble, I now come to what I actually perceive.
Curtains up for Scotch Peat:

It starts with a beautiful leather alongside many alcoholic impressions, all quite positive. Lots of herbs, lots of spice, many sweet impressions, and a certain tastiness that makes you almost want to bite in.
A mélange of bare impressions from respectable bottles from various regions of Scotland. Unfortunately, Islay as a region is omitted here. Smoke is only perceptible at the very edge. Subtle, weak, slightly medicinal. No remarkable protagonist, only recognizable if you concentrate on it.
There are impressions of heather, hay, grass, and barley malt that caress my nose and whisper ‘Drink me!’
A sweet wind becomes stronger and weaker at times, calling out to me.
The scent oscillates between warm and cool, between the spice of the weather, the wilderness, the rough nature, and the sweetness of the spirits.

Only in the end is Scotch Peat very similar to "Cigar Rum | Strangers Parfumerie." Both are boozy, both miss smoke, and both celebrate aged spirits, albeit sweeter rather than smoky, as their names might suggest. But that’s just my smoky perception and expectation.
Unfortunately, the projection quickly loses strength, becoming very close to the skin and quiet. And that with four sprays per arm. Prin can do better.

Glenmorangie Signet
In the Northern Highlands lies the Glenmorangie distillery. More precisely, in the small town of Tain, which has fewer than 4,000 inhabitants. Scotch has been produced there since 1843. At least, that is when it was first documented. The roots by the banks of the Dornoch Firth go back much further. But it has always been "The 16 Men of Tain" who were responsible for the incredibly smooth whisky at the stills. One reason for this is the tallest stills, which at over five meters are unmatched. Here, lightly peated barley from the region is primarily mashed, creating the unique aroma of Glenmorangie.

This special handling of natural materials leads, for example, in Glenmorangie Signet to a gentle peat aroma that blends with chocolatey and red fruit accords.

And this is exactly how Scotch Peat smells. Like slightly malty grain. The mash. Old oak barrels in which the aged vintages take on color and flavor (from wine and sherry). The ever-present aroma of whisky. In the cups of the Men of Tain, as they were filled at noon throughout Glenmorangie's history. And it feels more like passing by the distillery. Its doors are wide open. The scent flows out into the cool morning air. It warms the passerby through the nose. It burns the aromas deep into memory.

Completely without alcoholic notes.

Warm aromas of chocolate and fruits are added. And considering that patchouli and vanilla often create a chocolate aroma, the peat accord described here is more of fresh, black, damp earth, which blends with caramelized tonka into a slightly smoky chocolate accord.

Just like in Glenmorangie Signet.

The now well over 400 employees in the company, around the "16 Men of Tain" at the stills, produce over 9 million liters annually, making it the most popular whisky in Scotland. The distillery has also been part of the LVMH group for some time now. It is hardly possible to source such a quantity of brewing barley from such a small area as around Tain. But great care is taken to ensure that the barley has the typical light peatiness, even if it comes from further away.

For special blends, the original barley from the banks of the Dornoch Firth is still used.

Strong honey then Prin's hay and medicinal iodine. Vivid lavender + woods as it dries down. Not for me, but worth a sniff.

If you like aromatic earthy scents, give this a sample. Just a heads up, it leans more earthy and smoky than green.

A complex boozy Scotch, that slowly sheds boozy facets and let's the peat shine - why isn't peat more popular?

Quite fruity, quite pleasant; somewhat woody, somewhat peaty but way too shallow and also very weak in the long run.

A strict combination of many gourmand accents and an animalistic, hay-like brew: completely unharmonious and repulsive to me..

Late summer. The sun has dried the hay and flowers, sweet wood and soft wood next door in the soft leather pouch, a drop of whisky.

One of the better Strangers: Prins Heu, sweet honey, leather, and various woods. Overall complex and unique. Could be more performance-driven.
