Carillon pour un Ange hits me like an olfactory epiphany. It is utterly captivating, ravishing. I can't stop taking long, slow inspirations of it.

There are the notes, the muguet (earthy, oily, creamy, strangely autumnal) so distinct from the light, pretty muguets I've smelled before. The muguet is the lead-in to the leather, the fresh, piercing green, and the vaguely composted forest brown. But it's really the tones, not the notes. I get a strong musical sense of a precise, high-pitched harmony and a series of bass chords that obviate the need for a middle range. The high and the low pitches create a particular, perfect balance.

Artists' quotes for press releases, like after-show discussion with directors/choreographers/composers make me want to bolt for the exit. Show me your work, don't try to talk me into it. Refreshingly different, Andy Tauer's humble statements to the effect of, 'This my tribute to the lily of the valley. I hope you'll dig it' (my paraphrase) makes me appreciate his work all the more.

Artistically significant and breath-takingly beautiful. From my experience of the arts, not a common enough occurrence.

Out of this world!
"Carillon pour un ange"...what a beautiful name for such an amazing fragrance! It's aroma is so green, pure, that it feels like you are listening to an angel with golden hair lightly touching the carillon's little bells. The song he plays accompanies bird songs, who chirp cheerfuly.

It cannot sing in another place but the Garden of Eden, where lily of the valleys grow unhindered through the fresh grass and the blooming lilac and expand their fragile arms towards the diligent bees. On the trees moss, small raindrops rest before the sun rays take them as a tribute.

The roses are yellow, so yellow that for a moment amazemnet can be read in you eyes, as you do not know whether the Sun broke pieces from its body and throwed them in the Garden.

I think that for the creation of this perfume, flowers gave up their sap and blended it toghether in order to create such a wonderful scent.

"Carillon pour un ange" smells like life, like Earth loved by the Sun and people loved by God.

Not for men. Unless...
This is a white floral bomb. Apologies for the crudeness but I can’t explain it in any other way. This is pushing the boundaries of unisex fragrances. I’m a man and I love it but most men wouldn’t. This is a feminine fragrance. Some may say old school perfumery but there’s nothing wrong with that when done well. I managed to get hold of this because I enjoy collecting Andy Tauer fragrances but I believe it is no longer in production. It’s a floral experience perhaps to be kept to one’s self.

would describe this
as grease n' leather first applied to my skin it was repulsive i mean i love leather scents but this was made to oily and too greenish i gag at this so i had to wash it off.
it does dry down a bit to a note of greens and lilies and with an mossy drydown and there is a strong jasmine note but does not mixed into this scent

Andy Tauer and Lily of the Valley...

I am also a fan of Tauer fragrances. They smell incredibly interesting and unique... some, for my nose too unique to wear myself, but so intriguing that I just can't stop sniffing. It's been a long time since I ordered a discovery set from Switzerland - back then with winter scents. But lo and behold - what suddenly greets me as I tear open the ugly brown paper? A fragrance card in a plastic bag with an autograph from Andy Tauer? "Enjoy! Fragrant greetings, Andy," it says. No11 Carillon pour un ange. How interesting... a fresh, floral scent from Andy?

If you look at my perfume collection, you will see that Dior's Diorissimo is on my wish list. I love lily of the valley - innocent, cheerful, delicate, white flowers... and deadly poisonous. What a deceptive, seductive plant - perhaps that's why I like it so much. But how does the scratchy Tauer interpret such a soft, little plant? Also with an asphalt note?

“Building a fragrance with lily of the valley singing in spring was a wish since I started making perfumes. Carillon pour un ange is my tribute to this wonderful forest treasure. It is a green choir of flowers," says Andy about his composition.

I like his perfume descriptions; they sound so poetic and harmonious, even if the scents themselves are sometimes a bit rough - but not in this case.

Carillon pour un ange starts off very intense, perhaps even a bit unpleasant at first. Five minutes later, I don't smell a rose, but a very beautiful floral-cool note of lilac and... violet? As the top note slowly fades, I actually detect a green lily of the valley, later joined by earthy moss and a slightly oily scent of hyacinth.

Carillon pour un ange is... different. It is not a second Diorissimo and does not want to be one. It is not a lily of the valley that stands on the windowsill or in our garden to delight us with its innocent scent. This lily of the valley grows wild; it has just awakened and playfully stretches its head out of its bed of damp underbrush and soft moss. It is willful; it does not want to please, why should it? To be picked and admired? It knows that it is beautiful. It smells natural and pure, after the last rain shower has freed its delicate leaves from the last remnants of damp earth.

With this scent, Andy Tauer has not only reinterpreted the lily of the valley, he has managed to bottle the awakening of spring. A forest where the last snow has melted and the first flowers are budding. An old forest where life is blooming again. I love it. Pure harmony.

Unfortunately, my sample is running out soon...

Cold spring day. Lilacs and fresh green sap. Pencil shavings. Snow and petrol. Has an giddy stillness, waiting for leaves to burst. Love.

Starts as a pleasant flowery and slightly mossy chypre; then ambergris shows up and destroys everything on its way.

Less angelic and more the divine sweat of the Jade King sitting in the Temple of Heaven. Magnum Opus of the Lao Tze of scent.

You have to like lily of the valley (which I do), but then it's a great statement: VERY floral, VERY green, VERY intense. May bells!

The bells of this carillon were made from large, lushly fragrant lily cups. Not for delicate little angels like us...

Not a delicate young girl’s floral scent. Lucifer himself rings the bells for Archangel Gabriel: devilishly good and heavenly beautiful. Spring!

This "scent" borders on assault! Deep dark green mossy & killer lily of the valley flatten everything and eat into the skin.
