Pain of Africa
This one is a very particular scent: if you 're searching for something warm, sweet, intoxicating , spicy, Woody and longlasting and you have a very low budget, well, you've found your perfume!
Close your eyes and don't look at the cheap and quite ugly bottle , but spray and smell: you'll feel immediately the warmth of a Savannah and the resinous scents of the ethnic wood objects of the local people. The flowery heart note of the Jasmine is vibrant giving that gentle touch to this quite strong and unisex scent.
The Woody and musky base notes made sweeter by a touch of well balanced vanilla stay on the skin for hours with a surprising sillage in comparison with the quite ridiculous price (about 4€ here in Italy) of this aromatic perfume!
It's an hypnotic fragrance to wear in the cold season as well as in a summer night if you want hypnotize someone .
I gave it as a present to my boyfriend and he loved it immediately....when He wears it, I havent' to ask the name of the perfume: it's Africa! If you have pain of Africa, well , be quite: there's a flaming sunset closed into this little and humble bottle! Just try!

A mysterious brew. Right after application, I am hit by a piercing, musty artificiality, reminiscent of many (and unfortunately not exclusively bad) lavender scents that develop on my skin. It only dawns on me over the course of the next hour that this must be the harbinger of a heliotrope synthetic.

The possibly most well-known type of heliotrope, the vanilla flower, certainly lives up to its name in terms of scent, but it also offers a prickly-sweet nuance that always strikes me as rather artificial. That is exactly what comes to mind. Now, heliotrope in fragrances as a source of vanilla scent is by no means unusual (or even standard - at least that’s what I’ve read somewhere), but I think it could be a bit rounder.

Additionally, cinnamon could be involved in the scent impression, which would fit the prickliness quite well. From a distance - quite a distance - orange blossom might play a role. According to Angua (see below), it is mentioned on the bottle, but I wouldn’t have thought of it on my own initially. Be that as it may, with a bit of imagination, orange blossom honey is fine with me - from a very, very far distance. Dry cedar dusts around in the background. On the side. As if the two have nothing to do with each other, each doing its own thing.

In the fourth hour, the mustiness breaks through again, this time, I must admit, woodier than before. The slightly prickly-stinky white flower note comes a little closer. From the fifth hour on - variatio delectat - the mustiness seems more like that of patchouli. Along with the well-known synthetic sweetness. I find this combination quite unpleasant. Dusty must and cheap vanilla. Unfortunately, this continues for hours until, by evening, only…dusty must remains.

If I had to name a fragrance that Africa reminds me of the most, it would be (the certainly better) Nightflight by Joop, due to the dominant artificial heliotrope note on dry wood. Although the night flight in this case may lead elsewhere - certainly not to Africa.

What remains is my realization that according to Duden, a “sonst” is always separated from the following word. Aha. At least something.

I thank ChaiTee for the sample.

Good Against 'Wet Dog'
This fragrance was a blind buy - and simply because the Italian wholesaler I discovered in my area did not have the desired Tessori d'Oriente scent "Marrakech Essenze e Spezie - Ambra e Zafferano" available. And since I was already there and the shop had a certain charm, I didn't want to leave empty-handed. And spices and woods don't sound bad either, and for five euros, you can't go wrong...
Well - first of all, the spray head didn't work, so I had to go back to the car and exchange it. And since we were already there, I also picked up some Italian cookies. They were really good too.
At home, I tried out the new acquisition and ... the enthusiasm just didn't kick in. So I put it in the cupboard, so I could say 'oh, I've had that for a long time' in case anyone asked.
In some unobserved moments, I tried it again and again, but the enthusiasm was still not there.
The scent is quite strong, the spices and woods are not really identifiable.
And while "Marrakech Essenze e Spezie - Ambra e Zafferano" is a soft, warm scent that I really enjoy wearing, and "Vaniglia e Zenzero" is also a pleasant fragrance to wear, I have to say that I wouldn't necessarily dare to wear "Africa" around people. It's just too loud and has that hairspray note that clings to the arm for hours.
In the meantime, I have found a use for "Africa":
My little one likes to take Benno for walks. Benno is my mom's dog, who lives a bit outside of town.
So it happens that the little one goes to get the dog and walks into town, or I drive the little one to the dog, then we put the guy in the car and drive into town, and she walks back with him. He enjoys it because he loves riding in the car.
Unfortunately, he doesn't really care about personal hygiene, which is especially noticeable when it's a bit wet.
Then my little delivery van smells like 'wet dog' for days.
And that's where "Africa" comes into play - spray a paper strip well, stick it in the ventilation, turn on the heating - and the 'wet dog' is no longer detectable.
With the remaining 98 ml, I can still take the dog for many walks.

Don't look at the cheap and ugly bottle: the scent is good , Woody-flowery-aromatic . A warm unisex to share at only about 4 €!

Where has the charm of the Tesori fragrances gone? I'm searching for it in vain and instead get lost in the scent: confusing and unfortunately outdated.

Can't sleep? Spray on Africa and listen to the CD with tree bark crackling and birds chirping, then it will definitely work.

Artificial, but not unpleasant lavender with spices and musk. I actually find it quite nice, not as loud as often mentioned here.

Similar to "MuschioBianco" at first - also this hairspray note. Develops into a pretty nice everyday scent. Woody-spicy? Well.

In the biggest fragrance community on the web in Italy, it’s sarcastically called "profumo Mondiale".
It smells great for 4 euros.

Initially hairspray-like (not unpleasant!) and lavender-fresh, then woody. Quite spicy but not on me. Average, not offensive!

Synthetic sweet, with a few floral and woody hints. You can't expect more for the price - it's not too bothersome.

Lavender-Bergamot-aftershave-vibes. I associate it more with a masculine scent.
