Hey folks, welcome to my latest fragrance review. Today I'm reporting on Ayurveda by Tesori d‘Oriente. Hmm… Ayurveda. This healing art and wellness treatments from India make me think of yoga first. No idea why, maybe because it just seems to belong (to the term Ayurveda), but perhaps also because yoga has been gaining popularity for years. I've never really gotten into yoga, but the older I get and the more I hear my bones crack during certain movements, the more things like yoga start to seem sensible to me...
How about you ladies? You're not getting any younger either (wow, for that statement, I'm sure I'll get a smack on the head…!), I mean, can you still bend over easily? … Okay, that wording was surely unfortunate and I'm sure there's another smack on the head coming my way, argh… :D
He he, anyway, I don't know what scents are typically used in yoga or in Ayurveda wellness therapies (so I'm not familiar with aroma therapies or essential oils), so I can't say whether the fragrance actually smells like these wellness treatments or not, because everything I associate olfactorily with India are meals with curry and generally spicy food and such, mu ha ha ha :D
The Fragrance:
The fragrance opens with orange and pink pepper, so it's citrusy in the top notes, but also sweet and fruity. It also comes across as a bit powdery to me. Shortly after, the powdery aspect becomes significantly more intense, and the fragrance also becomes sweeter. I see that iris is included in the scent, and that's surely the reason for the powdery character of the fragrance. I think iris and the sweet notes smell quite beautiful together, rather feminine, but for some, it might also come off as a bit overwhelmingly opulent.
Later, you can smell a bit of cedar, but it doesn't appear as prominent here as one might expect from cedar, as its somewhat harsh and actually strong scent is likely softened by the many other notes here. I don't mind this, as otherwise, the fragrance might have come off as a bit too masculine instead of unisex. Otherwise, the fragrance does come across as somewhat synthetic, but given the low prices of this brand, that's easy to overlook, especially since the synthetic aspect isn't too off-putting.
However, I find the later base quite unpleasant or disturbing when the fragrance starts to smell rather heavily of opulent and unfortunately somewhat stuffy flowers. Although the scent is still soft and powdery and very sweet, I find the now stuffier aura to be too overwhelming; you know I don't really like that.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is above average and will be quite noticeable in the initial phase after spraying, but it generally lacks endurance, so its intensity fades quickly. The longevity is also just average despite the opulent base, although five to six hours is still a good duration.
The Bottle:
The turquoise bottle looks like a deodorant can, featuring the usual elaborate patterns or images, in this case, floral designs in Indian style. I think it looks quite nice.
Conclusion:
So folks, Ayurveda is certainly not a fragrance that one absolutely must have, as there are better scents from Tesori d‘Oriente. But it’s still quite nice, so a test could be worthwhile for anyone who enjoys powdery sweet fragrances, especially since the price is unbeatable, making it easy to handle any potential mispurchases. I don't like the later base due to the stuffier aura, but maybe that bothers you ladies less.
I just don't know if Ayurveda wellness treatments smell like this, but if anyone enjoys such things, feel free to let me know what scents are usually used when doing hot... uh, I mean, acrobatic yoga poses and so on :DD
The fragrance is usable, well, maybe for going out, or better yet, in your leisure time. I would recommend spring and autumn, as the fragrance might come off as too opulent on hot summer days. Well, that’s it from me. So, have a nice evening and see you next time :)
