Strong cherry, faint smoke...
Oh man...following my credo of generally rating fragrances positively that I own (because otherwise I wouldn't have bought them), I can't help but not start a review here either.
But: !!! I have not regretted this purchase in retrospect, but I have at least questioned it. Furthermore, I would like to give people who are considering buying this fragrance something to take with them.
I like cherry!...at least in the bottle.... When it comes to jam(s), I'm more into strawberries, raspberries and grizlyberries. That's why I quickly decided to buy Cherry Smoke after a short test in/at the big "D". I opted for the 30ml version as I prefer the smaller pack sizes. Besides, I will never be able to sniff my perfumes in the years I have left (however many years I have left)......niemals.... and there are always more...
The first surprise at the checkout. the display showed 190 thalers. And I wondered why I hadn't enquired about the price. Wasn't it 150 for 30ml in the "Private Blend Collection" a few months ago? (as of May 23). There I was, with what felt like half of Hamburg waiting behind me. I also didn't want to say: "But that's too expensive for me now"... I'm just a shy little guy.
Do you know the feeling of being ripped off? That dull, hollow throbbing in your stomach? I felt it for the first time in 1985 when I bought my first car at a used car market for a measly DM 1800.00 and the very next day it smelled strangely from the hood and smelled funny....well, that went away automatically after just under 500 kilometers, but I still felt...well ...strange.
CS doesn't smell strange... It actually smells very appealing! A deep cherry that I perceive as not quite as synthetic as I did with Lost Cherry Eau de Parfum. The smokiness is OK...a gimmick, like the crayfish in the Yps magazine (insider for the over 50 faction), nothing more...just cherry...nice. He also performs quite one-dimensionally in the rest of the movie. Cherry fans will enjoy it; smoke fans will not...
The fragrance lasts longer than expected (4-5 hours), yet CS is truly not a beast. The sillage is OK and makes the immediate surroundings happy. If you are expecting a crowdpleaser, you are wrong here. I like to use this fragrance for the office. Unobtrusive fruitiness that doesn't annoy anyone and envelops me discreetly.
Everyone has to decide for themselves whether CS is worth the price. Shortly afterwards I discovered Wet Cherry Liquor ...in my opinion, more than an alternative...
