The perfect tuberose soliflore
Can you believe I used to hate tuberose? It’s actually insane because I’m a huge tuberose fan now and LOVE to see it incorporated into many fragrances. While I love tuberose in many different interpretations and compositions, I particularly have a soft spot for the photorealistic tuberose scents. Ones that are strictly floral and natural, and that exactly what Do Son EDP is.

Do Son is a simple and easy with just four notes: tuberose, orange leaf, pink pepper, and musk. You get all four notes, but with tuberose obviously being at the center of attention. It’s slightly green and spicy, and dries down to a more musky tuberose scent. It’s not overly indolic, but tuberose is one of those white florals that always smells ever so slightly indolic to my nose. Even so, this fragrance feels so clean and easy to wear. I wore it out to my friends graduation brunch over the weekend and after reapplying it on myself, my sister and friend complimented me on how good it smelled. It has this alluring sexiness to it, but done in a very effortless way. It’s chic and smells expensive, but done in such a humble way. It has this beautiful duality to it while being such a simply composed scent. I just love it.

I have the EDP and *had* the EDT and I think the EDP is better by a long shot. The EDT is still nice, but definitely is not as tuberose-straight forward because of the other floral notes in the composition. The EDT gives more of an orange blossom-iris-tuberose vibe with benzoin, while the EDP is just mainly tuberose.

As with most Diptyques, the sillage is intimate to moderate but the longevity is very good. Another plus for Do Son (and honestly all the Diptyques) is the beautiful artistry of the bottles. They’re just so stunning to me and feel so classy to hold and wear. I promise you it’s all part of the experience. If you ever get a chance to try Do Son EDP, definitely don’t hesitate to give it a sniff and wear. This will be a permanent fixture in my collection for the spring and summer months.

Plain white
Do Son EdP is best observed from a distance. The trail it leaves in the air is magnificent. Consistently present, close to being a tuberose-'soliflor' and yet it is feather-light and inobtrusive.

When studied from up close, Do Son appears as a plain white floral blend. No frills, no drama. Similar to the EdT, the scent develops from jasmin-tuberose to orange blossom-tuberose. While the EdP feels less stingy and way smoother than the EdT, it is also kind of straightforward. The EdT has a salty sea breeze note, which provides personality and makes it more fun to wear if you ask me.

EDP - A Greener, Lush Interpretation
I have Do Son EDT and EDP, each on a separate wrist.

The orange leaf really shines and makes this fragrance. It’s all the glory and all the things you love about a white floral (there’s jasmine and orange blossom in there as well, not just tuberose), but in the shaded and dappled light of branches and foliage overhead. It’s greener and a little more neroli-like. For me, it’s my preference between the two.

Tuberose always gets this slutty reputation, “indolic” this, “seductive” that. Sensual, voluptuous, etc. But here in Do Son EDP, the tuberose is a little more reserved and subtle. More nuanced, I guess.

In some ways, it kind of reminds me of a more mature and greener version of Tocca Florence which is a lovely gardenia, but a bit too young and girly for my tastes.

Like a Memory of standing beside a Jasmine bush
When I first tested both the Do Son EDT and EDP on paper strips, back in my early fragrance days, the EDT was the clear winner. I was looking for a photorealistic white floral that captured the scent of jasmine in my grandmother’s garden in the Middle East.

But on skin? The EDP won. Hands down.

On skin, the EDP delivers beautifully on that photorealistic white floral experience, with a touch of orange blossom in the background that keeps it fresh and clean. The EDT, on the other hand, fell flat for me. And unlike many tuberose-heavy fragrances, neither version of Do Son gives off that indolic, almost fecal note that some jasmine or tuberose fragrances have (I’m looking at you, Olène!).

The Do Son EDP is the perfect white floral fragrance for anyone craving the scent of real, living jasmine—fresh, clean, and true to life. No rotten or fecal undertones in sight. It smells like you’re standing right next to a blooming jasmine bush, basking in that fresh and creamy, natural scent.

That said, this isn’t a safe blind buy. What Do Son delivers, it delivers unapologetically—you have to love what it’s going for to truly enjoy it: a pure, living jasmine bush in a summer garden. If you don’t have a soft spot for jasmine or aren’t already a little obsessed with tuberose, it might come across as too intense. And if you typically lean toward more conventional fragrances or blended florals, this one might feel a bit too raw or singular. But in my opinion, it’s absolutely worth trying. Especially on skin.

Holiday in Tuscany in a bottle
It’s one of the best scents I’ve smelled in the last years! It’s a photorealistic jasmine bush in the evening, when the sun has released all those gorgeous oils from the flower during the day and it’s still vibrating from the heat. It smells like a holiday in Tuscany. While It’s such a vibrant and warm and tantalizing scent, I won’t buy because doesn’t last me longer than an hour. It sticks to clothes a good while longer but for this price the lack of longevity just turns me off it. A real shame.

This was love at first sniff for me! A creamy tuberose that manages to stay quite fresh and wearable! Signature scent worthy!

Almost 100% tuberose with a bit of jasmine in the opening. Potent but not too cloying, almost too elegant

Clean, sparkling, creamy tuberose. Straightforward to the point of boring

Diptyque's description of the EDP as the heart of the flower is quite accurate, it has a voluptuousness the EDT lacks.

Realistic flowery scent with fresh background. Not too sweet. Jasmine/tuberose and not much else. Projection is good for a Diptyque.

My first white floral tester. Very strong if you're sensitive to white florals.

Jasmine and green tuberose, soft and clean, gently waven by a slight sea breeze. Sugarcoated with nostalgia, benzoin and white musk. Dreamy.

Uncomplicated tuberose, reasonable sweetness. I can't see big difference between Do Son and more affordable tuberose fragrances.
