Heat superstar
I got this as a present two years ago and have worn it during summer ever since. The more heat, the more Philosykos gets better. I find it to be at its best when it's scorching hot.

I haven't worn this outside of summer, but every now and then I pick up my bottle to give it a sniff. Every time I do, I exhale aloud with pleasure. Its freshness, creaminess and slight sweetness is just delicious, and a true delight to wear. Can't wait to wear for the heat to wear this.

It's okay to not have all the answers
Philoskyos from Diptyque is a scent I don't wear very often because I am not quite sure what to make of it...and I don't know how to pronounce it, either. It is meant to be a perfumed ode to the fig tree in its entirety, the wood, the leaves and the fruit, but to be transparent here, I have never eaten a fresh fig, and even worse I sometimes get confused about dried figs and dried dates, so I'm already at a loss. What I do experience from this scent is the milky sap from a broken twig and the fragrance of spring greenery, damp from a morning rain. Despite that, it still comes off as dry, and I would expect it to also be fresh and light, but somehow it's strangely musty. I wear this on days when I know I've got a lot to think about, to remind myself that it's okay to not know everything, and maybe never reach a conclusion.

Beautiful Green Fig
Philosykos is beautifully effervescent, even on moisturized skin. The opening is fresh and juicy, combining the sweetness of fruit with the green of its leaves and twigs. Over time, the fruitiness dies down and the wood settles down with a pepper-like note. And then, it's gone.

I usually get a good hour before it settles, and then it often becomes a skin-scent / scent-suggestion by the 5th hour. I couldn't tell you what it smells like on others, or if it subtly fills a room with its beauty and you just never notice. This one keeps to itself, and I guess that's fine. The only thing that arrests me from loving it is the constantly increasing price of the bottle. I would not consider this worth $200+, though the bottle is gorgeous as well.

I say this, but I continue to buy it, because I love the very idea of it. It is an easy go-to, especially if you live somewhere temperate and/or humid and you get warm days throughout the year.

The whole fig tree
These days, I own the EDP, which is greener and woodier than the fruity EDT. The point is essentially the same, though – Philosykos is the whole fig tree in a bottle, leaf, sap, and fruit and all. It is an intensely naturalistic, evocative, vivid fragrance, and one that pushes the fig narrative with single-minded agression. It reminds me of sitting under my mother-in-law’s massive fig tree on the small homestead she owns overlooking Skadar Lake, straddling Montenegro and Albania. Spraying this scent transports me back there immediately. Always a happy experience, therefore, albeit one tinged with a bit of nostalgia for the Mediterranean, which I find becomes especially acute in the depths of an Irish winter.

Brilliant green fig but disappointing performance
I got a free sample of this at a local Diptyque boutique I went to in Spain. I loved the paper smell but was not certain this would be great as it seemed somewhat unwearable and more of a smell I would want on a candle or a soap.

However, it was wonderful to wear. Super refreshing and green. Personally, I did not get any fig fruit notes and got only plant-like notes which was not bad, but it could have been any other plant in the marketing and I would have believed it.

Sadly, it was gone from my skin and my clothes within 2 hours, which I spent outside with fresh air. Other scents I go noseblind to still whiff me in the clothes, but this one was just a total disappearance. A shame since it was so good. Compared to the other sample I got, L'Ombre Dans L'Eau, its performance sucks for both being on the lighter side of fragrances.

Test before you buy.

Very photorealictic scent of leaves torn off the tree and then rolled in the palms till they are completely smashed.

Fig skin, fig tree branches, fig tree leaves, fig tree trunk. The most realistic fig tree scent I know. Green, fresh, milky, a bit woody.

The EdP is much creamier and smoother than the EdT, which I personally found too green

One of the most true fig smells. Growing up around figs trees this perfume always brings me back to those places.

Definitely too sweet for me. At first it's nice and green, then it gets sweeter and sweeter to the point I can't stand it anymore.

Smelled milky on the strip but green on skin. Feels like eating a ripped fig while walking across newly mowed grass field. The sap spilled everywhere.

A masterpiece. This is the Fig benchmark. It's so photorealistic, and beautiful.
