Call from Grandpa Sperling

At the company M.B., the phone is ringing. It rings and rings.
(Since this is a fictional story, they speak German)
Finally, someone picks up and mumbles into the phone.
Grandpa Sperling: “Hello, my name is Sperling and I would like to speak with the Obermimer, please.”
There’s more mumbling on the other end.
Grandpa Sperling: “Could you please speak louder? I’m 86 and I’m a bit hard of hearing. I do have a hearing aid, but it always squeaks when I’m on the phone. Otherwise, I’m still quite fit for my age and I even drive a car. I only need glasses for reading; otherwise, I have eagle eyes, even though my name is Sperling, muhahaha.”
M.B.: “Yes, I’m the boss here. How can I help you?”
Grandpa Sperling: “My daughter found your number on the internet and asked me to inquire about a perfume for my grandson. She never has time, so I have to do it. I don’t have the internet myself. I won’t start with that stuff, I’d just mess it up. I’m a bit shaky sometimes and I just recently broke a Meissen vase.”
M.B.: “Normally, I don’t do perfume consultations, but as an exception.....”
Grandpa Sperling: “I used to use perfume all the time, but now I just splash myself with rubbing alcohol every day; that smells too. My daughter said the grandson needs something modern, even though I would have preferred to buy him something from Schanell.”
M.B.: “What? Oh, you mean Chanel!”
Grandpa Sperling: “My daughter isn’t an old hag at 64.”
M.B. (takes a deep breath..): “Let’s talk about your grandson. What’s he like?”
Grandpa Sperling: “Oh, he likes to eat in peace. He eats everything, especially sweets.”
M.B.: “I meant is he more quiet or sporty, fat or thin, tall or short. If he loves sweets, I have the Haiku here:”
Grandpa Sperling: “Well, he used to be heavier and his hair is shorter now, but since he’s been going to the roller skating rink with the kids, he’s gotten thinner again.
Heiko? My grandson is also named Heiko! What a coincidence. Muhahaha!”
M.B. (starts biting holes in the edge of his desk): “The perfume is called Haiku!!!!”
Grandpa Sperling: “Oh, I see. What does it smell like?”
M.B.: “Well, at the top, I have sweet blossoms, flax, roses...”
Grandpa Sperling: “I feel sorry for you. Does that hurt a lot?”
M.B.: “I mean the notes!”
Grandpa Sperling: “Well, if you give your pains notes, then my arthritis will soon get a 5.”
M.B. (teasing the fringes of his carpet and thinking, if I mention the heart note and the base now, grandpa will send me the paramedics) says desperately: “Those are the components of a perfume, and they are called notes. Together, they form the pyramid.”
Grandpa Sperling: “Oh, you also have a branch in Egypt? I just wanted to know how the stuff smells. Sour, bitter, or sweet.”
M.B.: “Haiku is sweet, very sweet, smells like pudding with berry fruits. Very, very creamy with a bit of wood. But if Haiku doesn’t appeal to Heiko, we will surely find something for the little one. How old is your grandson?”
Grandpa Sperling: “My grandson is 44.”

A fragrance that could make one rave... and sigh... :D
Hello and welcome to my comment on Mirko Buffini's "Haiku," my dear sniffers!
Mirko Buffini is probably one of those brands that seems to have some hidden treasures, but hardly anyone knows about them. Even here on Parfumo, I encounter the brand less often than I would have expected.

So far, I have only been able to test one fragrance from this brand, and that was only because it contained tea, and at that time, I was crazy about getting to know all kinds of tea fragrances. Well, I am still crazy, of course, regarding tea scents, even if I can imagine what you all usually think about that… I know exactly that you think I'm a bit crazy, right? But I am NOT crazy!!! Or am I?? … Nooo… I’m not, for sure, shhhhhhht, everything is guuuut…. :DD

Anyway, today it's time for Haiku. As you may have guessed, the name comes from Japan and refers to a short form of poetry from Japan. It is also the name of an operating system, but I am sure that the name of the fragrance was inspired more by the artistic form of poetry than by a probably unknown operating system whose existence only nerds like me could know about (… pah, I only learned that today, thanks to Wikipedia. So am I a nerd? Huh? HUH??? I am not crazy!!!!).

So let's get to the fragrance.

The fragrance:
Hmm, the fragrance starts off wonderfully. An absolutely beautiful women's scent that begins with roses, vanilla, a bit of cedar, and lovely resins (which are not specified, but it smells like benzoin to me). The sweet notes also have an amber scent, which I find lovely as well.
Floral notes are one of the main fragrance notes here. Of course, flax is listed as a floral note, but how am I supposed to know that? :D
But I am sure it smells like flax, and it does so beautifully, as I can rule out the other floral notes, even though the sweetness in this fragrance occasionally reminds me of jasmine (which, according to the fragrance pyramid, also doesn’t seem to be present).
After a while, the impression of jasmine fades, and the sweet notes mainly come from a mix of musk and amber, with the musk becoming stronger and the amber eventually pushed into the background. Vanilla is also a strong sweet note and is therefore always present, even becoming stronger throughout the fragrance, which makes it appear more powdery. The fragrance mostly ends sweet and powdery.

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is good, so it should be noticeable for a while, as the fragrance wearer will radiate a nice scent cloud. I also found the longevity to be good, as the fragrance was pleasant for about eight to ten hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is quite simple. It is rectangular, slightly tinted, and has no label; the name of the fragrance is printed directly on the front of the bottle. The cap is cylindrical and gold-plated. As I said, everything is quite simple but still nice.

So folks. Haiku is a really beautiful women's fragrance. Yes, I am writing "women's fragrance" specifically because the scent comes across as very feminine, and I can't really imagine such a scent on men, even if it is labeled as unisex.

I think this fragrance will appeal to most of you here, as long as you have no aversion to slightly sweeter scents or powdery notes. It is very pleasant, smells sexy to me (a scent for cuddling, drooling, and biting :D) as well as delicate and somehow cute. Thus, it would be a fragrance for leisure as well as for going out, and it also serves as an all-rounder, as it doesn’t feel very overwhelming despite the sweetness, unless it’s a hot summer. Well, let’s say that the fragrance shines best in spring, autumn, and winter :)

So it is definitely recommendable.
If you want to appear cute, reach for this fragrance.
If you want to appear sexy, reach for this fragrance.
If you want to get a kiss from DonJuanDeCat, reach for this fragrance. … Great, now no one will reach for this fragrance anymore… *sigh* How mean!!!

Well, as I said, the fragrance is super beautiful and worth a try. With that, I am done for today and wish everyone a lovely evening :)

The perhaps most beautiful Buffini in the world (who needs long chocolates)?
Honestly, I don't really know why I've been enjoying these feel-good fragrances with extra coziness so much lately, but I strongly suspect it's the autumn weather.
I truly adore summer. It's bright early, there's plenty of sunshine throughout the day, which brings a lot of energy and good mood.
Of course, every season has its charms and peculiarities, including autumn.

For many, autumn is simply uncomfortable, and suddenly everyone is afraid of water, who were happily splashing around in summer. ;)
When it rains a lot, it's stormy, and the sun hides more and more behind the clouds, I often fall into a kind of "coziness mode." I'm definitely more tired than in summer, but that also brings a certain calmness and serenity. Maybe it's because I was born in autumn, but this season has something magical and wonderfully cozy for me.
When you link arms under an umbrella or snuggle up comfortably at home while the rain drums against the windows. Or when you roll up in the blanket like a sushi roll and hold the coffee cup with both hands while the warm steam warms your face as you blow into the cup. Or how you pull the zipper of your jacket up to your nose before going out and stomp around in sturdy boots.

Ah yes :)

Now, back to the fragrance itself.
The perfume doesn't undergo any significant changes over time and remains relatively constant, except for the fragrance intensity, of course.
HAIKU radiates security, deep satisfaction, and a cozy warmth. I would describe the scent as creamy, delicate, soft, delicious, and cuddly, with a hint of vanilla and a bouquet of white flowers. It smells fresh and like creamed, delicate skin… and there's something in the background that reminds me of Kenzo Amour. It’s probably due to the vanilla and the wood, but I also perceive a gentle scent of rice here. There isn't a strong sillage, and HAIKU doesn't need one at all.

The perfume is quite soft, but surprisingly, it keeps coming back while wearing it and completely envelops you. The longevity for me is around 6 hours on the skin, although the intensity gradually but steadily decreases after about 3 hours.
For me (so far) the most beautiful Buffini.

EDIT the morning after...
So, I sprayed the perfume on my wrist yesterday after showering and before writing this comment. That was about 9 hours ago, and I can still smell the fragrance, although very faintly, but close to the skin.
So, you could say it lasts a good 6 hours and then remains very gently perceptible on the skin for quite a while.

No High-Precision Minimalism
The traditional Japanese poetic form of Haiku impresses with high-precision minimalism. Typically, a poem consists of only three lines, adhering to strict syllable counts. A total of 17 syllables are used to fill the lines. This includes five in the first line, seven in the second, and again five in the last line. At least in the traditional Haiku. Technically speaking, Haikus are therefore highly complex and not easy to compose. As the description of the poetic form would become more elaborate, I will limit myself here.

Mirko Buffini's creation has very little in common with beautiful poetry. It is a floral gourmand that offers relatively little.
While the scent is quite pleasant, the overwhelming fabric softener musk becomes simply annoying after a while. There is a hint of vanilla mixed in with the floral musk blend, and there you have a rather generic mainstream cuddler. One cannot call this minimalism; it is more like a narrow gauge.
It is evident that more emphasis was placed on marketing than on the art of perfumery. The manufacturer's website at least makes a solid impression, and the descriptions are brimming with kitschy poetry. A smoke and mirrors.

Overall, a disappointing experience.

I thank the lovely Sweetsmell75 for the sample.

Haiku doesn't quite know what it wants. Powdery flowers, vintage vibes, and a hint of fruit candies create a slightly quirky mix.

For my nose, an almost unbearable, sticky sweetness... as if a powdered sugar-coated caramel candy is stuck in my throat.

Painted like an Asian calligraphy. What’s missing is the light elegance of Japanese ink drawings. The scent remains arbitrary.

It has a bit of charm, but for me, the scent is more "Confetto" than "Pure eVe - Just Pure / Pure Virgin@The Different Company."

Creamiest flax flower intertwined with the finest wood and a lovely sweetness. You feel very well-groomed, freshly scented - a refined aura of fragrance.
