Another leather to love

This morning I had the chance to smell this blend which is a great spicy leather perfume with lots of saffron, a green middle and a beautiful warm prominent sandalwood at the drydown.

Great longevity and decent sillage. Fall and winter daytime perfume.

Noted on my want list, I would love to own It. I need this one for next fall.

EDIT: it is now mine and owning it already makes me want summer to end and cooler days to arrive so I can give this beauty a use.

Leather scent with pleasant spice, sweetness & wood

A scent that I have had sitting around for a while and have not yet reviewed: Behind the Curtain Piazza alla Scala from the Le Vie de Milano line. A great line, so to speak, the niche line of the Trussardi brand. Accordingly, it is significantly more expensive than the designer line. However, this particular scent can be found quite cheaply, as many shops sell it for over 50% off the MSRP (170€/100ml). At this price, in my opinion, it’s a great find. This is my second from this line after "Le Vie di Milano - Alba sui Navigli | Trussardi," which I can also highly recommend. More fragrances from this line are still being tested.

This line offers a lot. The concepts are also quite niche in terms of creativity, which not every brand can claim with "Private Blends." The packaging is the usual niche packaging, but nothing special. The bottles from this line are quite cool and also really heavy in hand. The cap features the greyhound, which is typically part of this brand's logo. It’s well done.
The scent of Behind the Curtain Piazza alla Scala definitely leans towards a leathery-spicy direction. So, anyone looking for the opposite of smooth fragrances can test this one well. Right from the opening, it starts confidently with a very loud sillage that radiates well. It begins with leather and a strong spice of saffron and clove, which may not appeal to everyone. I like this combination of leather and this oriental-tinged spice. Even though the opening is a bit rough in the first few minutes or the first hour, this scent calms down and becomes significantly more sensual with resinous-balsamic notes, for which labdanum is responsible. A slight gin vibe also appears through juniper, which fits well into this leather-spice mix. Even though there is no sweet component in this pyramid, this combination has quite a bit of sweetness in the background, which is pleasantly accompanying. Even in the drydown, it is pleasantly sweet, along with wood, patchouli, and soft leather. Quite convincing and also rather unique.
Performance is quite good, as the sillage radiates very well. Especially the first 2 hours are impressive. Longevity is also in double digits. This scent is unisex and versatile. It is preferably worn in leisure or in the evening and in cool to mild temperatures.

Overall, it is a great confident scent that becomes very soft and sensual over time. You can feel comfortable with it, and it makes a very stylish impression.

In November 22, I wrote one of my first reviews for this fragrance. I would like to update it now!

The scent was my first "niche designer" blind buy, without any knowledge of the ingredients, leather, saffron, etc.

The bottle is solid and resembles painted clay or even porcelain. The label is made of leather. The cap is sturdy and also trimmed with leather. The spray nozzle (which I wasn't aware of at the time) is probably one of the best ever. It makes a similar mechanical sound to the MFK sprayers, but the ease of use is incredible. Truly a big deal.

Now to the fragrance:
It starts with a lot of bergamot and spices. Clove and saffron create a dense, slightly sweet cloak, and the bergamot adds a hint of zest in the top notes.

It quickly becomes sweet, smoky & spicy, and the leather note is not at all harsh or overpowering. On my skin, a light but pleasant "wax" note develops. Like a beautiful scented candle. The fragrance feels very composed and proper. Not a party banger or a show-off - more of an underdog that doesn’t want to stand out at all.

Once the scent has faded, only sound and smoke remain in the truest sense (on the clothes, the scent smells like a campfire the next day) - simply cool.

Beautiful Saffron-Leather Allrounder

Not just a beginning, but generally a fragrance that doesn’t seem to boast outstandingly creative blends in the fragrance pyramid, but it doesn’t need to. The opening is immediately pleasing, saffron-clove-citrus, as mentioned, seen often, but here it’s interesting as it is interpreted quite fresh. Beautifully zesty, concentrated bergamot, meaty like zest, over which a very elegant and distinct saffron mist hovers, clove is like often seen pink pepper, just the little necessary kick for some excitement, weighing in very subtly, which fits nicely here. Balanced yet distinct enough to stand out.

Interesting and fitting to the elegance of the fragrance is how fluidly the top note transitions into the heart, the bergamot is taken over by fresh, juicy juniper in its role, saffron remains but transitions into the typical saffron-leather combination, also quite fruity and slightly sweet, no harsh dryness, but also not the sweet oriental to compare with two other variations of this typical duet.

After 70-90 minutes, we already clearly have the very finely polished and elegant woods in play, bright, white, soft associations come from them, one thinks of beautiful cashmere sweaters, luxurious scarves, especially in combination with the saffron, which continues to hold beautifully and leans towards a sweeter leather. Fresh-fruity-leathery it seems here, a beautiful and not quite so typical combination.

I find it somewhat difficult to evaluate, when a fragrance does little new, but what it does, it does super well, should one reach directly for the top 2 notes? Or is there a lack of creativity or something else, or should this even factor into the rating? I initially thought of a 7.5 due to the lack of special creativity, but the really beautiful harmony and especially for the price, the high-quality seeming composition and non-artificial ingredients, earns it an 8, good job!

my recommendation after the veil piazza alla scala

The fragrance is presented in very high-quality packaging. With a price under €90, one should grab it without hesitation, and my rating is based on this price.

It features a sweet, smoky, and spicy opening, where the leather makes its presence known. Cold jasmine and labdanum also come into play, but quickly fade to background actors, while the leather showcases itself in a battle against juniper and woody notes, marking an animalic phase of the fragrance.
The fruity aspect of the opening I describe as indefinably beautiful and wonderfully fitting.

In the heart, the masculine note of the fragrance emerges, maintaining a sweet, spicy character, while the scent continuously becomes warmer and the leather remains in the background, but is occasionally distinctly perceptible.

In the drydown, the fragrance becomes milder, but boosted by more wood, and only slightly recalls the smoky opening, while the longevity of the fragrance is very long.
