Comforting Scent

Nuit...one automatically thinks of something wicked, dark...but it is not. I would have almost guessed lavender in the opening...but it seems to be more the bergamot. This scent is not overpowering, synthetic, or bourbon-like. You could test 1000 vanilla fragrances, for me this composition is almost like a little night music. Somehow comforting, almost ethereal. I perceive the sillage as mediocre. Personally, I miss the twist, that certain something. Yves Rocher produces natural cosmetics, and this vanilla is just that, a bit woody, a bit powdery. A vanilla scent that you like to wear alone at home. It doesn’t distract, it’s simply like a body spray, lotion after bathing/showering.

Long awaited

The Christmas package from a dear perfumer was a long time coming.

But that doesn’t matter, as it only fueled the anticipation.
And a surprise after Christmas can’t hurt either.

The plump package actually arrived in January - and among many treasures, I discovered the nocturnal vanilla.

It is truly a soft comforter, especially since I am battling a toothache and a cold.
No, my nose is no longer affected, so I can make an objective statement.
And this statement is entirely positive.

A real unsweetened vanilla reaches me - as if from the pod.
No Dr. Oetker vanilla pudding here.
The cedar wafts over it with a smoky touch - but the jasmine brightens the authentic vanilla aroma.
Bergamot gently refreshes the scent, making it suitable for daytime wear - but also for the evening.

A full-bodied, yet not heavy rocher - with good longevity.

Hit Vanilla

This vanilla truly deserves a comment, not just a brief statement.
I must say, during the first test on a test strip, I was only moderately impressed. The scent felt too dull and too syrupy for me.
However, the second test, of course on skin, was the - proverbial - hit. I couldn't get my nose off my wrist! Naturally, this vanilla had to come with me!
Citrus, or rather bergamot - sparkling citrus notes are indicated on the packaging - is noticeable at the beginning, but only for a very short time. Then a liqueur-like note spreads, which reminds me a bit of Guerlain's spirituous double vanilla with this scent.
The vanilla, which beautifully floats above everything, is just right, not too pudding-like artificially sweet, nor too darkly bitter, just lovely, slightly smoky and caramel-tinged.
I also find the scent very nice after one or two hours, as hazelnut and dark chocolate notes spread on my skin, wonderful!
By the way, I don't find the scent as incredibly dark as one might think due to the packaging and the "nocturnal" name; for me, it's more flattering and comforting.
Yves Rocher may not have reinvented the vanilla wheel (as stated below), but this vanilla brings a smile to my face, and that's the beauty of it, isn't it?

For the price, you can't complain. A pleasant, not too sweet vanilla scent with a spicy afternote that doesn't get too overwhelming.
