Smart Casual Sandalwood
Came across this in my search for a no-frills, comforting unisex sandalwood fragrance. I'm still trying to make up my mind, whether I've found it. The tester at the department store had been halfway used up so I wonder if the exposure to air from all the spraying had softened the aspects that makes the new bottle I got smell a lot more traditionally masculine than the first impression I got.
It's not photorealistic sandalwood, the palo santo here overtakes the sandalwood just slightly. It comes across as somehow neat and put together, being neither too simplistic or complex. I can't say that I've tried many sandalwood fragrances that are targeted mostly at men, but among the ones I know this is an interesting take that comes across as smoky and salty in a way I can almost taste. As if sandalwood chips had been stored in a barrel full of salt, left next to a fire.
Whether I end up deciding that it is what I'm looking for, it's a very nice fragrance.

Since I really like this fragrance and all the scents in this line, and I think they are something special, I would like to share my enthusiasm. The pepper combined with the sage in the opening comes across wonderfully dry and spicy, with only the cypress adding its typically coniferous freshness. It reminds me a bit of Encre Noire. Slowly, dry Palo Santo blends in with creamy sandalwood. It really smells like a room that has recently been smoked without spreading any esoteric incense stick vibes. Absolutely authentic, in my opinion. These two notes remain the main players for most of the duration of the fragrance until sweet amber and tonka bean gradually sneak in. Not sticky but beautifully dark sweet and naturalistic. What exactly Sympep is, I cannot say, but there is a kind of Cashmeran vibe here, fluffy like musk. Overall, the fragrance reminds me of Clive Christian's Rococo Immortelle, and I definitely sense similarities in the drydown. So, anyone who loves Rococo will likely appreciate this as well. You can't complain about the quality here, as you get an extraordinary, dust-dry, and above all, authentic wood scent, which offers a good price-performance ratio. I feel this way about all the ones in the line that I have tested so far. The only one I'm still missing is Bois d'ambre. I also really like the bottle. Simple and iconic. Here you can buy without hesitation, as long as you enjoy dark wood scents.

Starts with a peppery freshness, base without amber, hardly any tonka, no synthetics, minimal sweetness. Beautiful linear scent, definitely unisex. I like it.

The woodiest scent I know. Dust-dry, sweet, amazing, simply a dream. Palo Santo and sandalwood in the heart. I'm raving again...

Sweet-woody, familiar, pleasant. Reminds me somehow of my grandfather - and he was great!

Wow, it smells so intensely of sandalwood. And not synthetic at all. I didn't expect that. Not sweet warm wood.
