Trouble in Paradise Memoirs of a Perfume Collector 2023

Funny how these things go. I ordered a three sample set from Les Senteurs which also included the much hyped Belgravia Iris and Tales from Zanzibar.
I wasn’t really interested in Trouble in Paradise however it is by far and away my favourite one, I will definitely add this to my collection in spring.
I’d never heard of the brand before the always cheerful TJ Talks Scents put me on to them (love for the love) at this point I want to say I’m pretty good at not being influenced and actively avoid the usual Dubai free bottle brigade sales people/influencers (I could rant I won’t).
Anyway the scent opens with a lovely freshly cut mango. It’s clear, clean and very natural to me. It’s like the scent cuts through your mind like clear glass with the mango on top there is a touch of body to it. As for all the notes listed I don’t pick up those other than accompanying citrus. The first time I sprayed it I am sure I got a little skanky/anamalic touch but not in the last four times I’ve tested.
As with Belgravia Iris the scent fades almost to nothing for a while (why)? The volume slowly turns up over the next couple of hours (I would say here that my wife can still smell it on me) and develops into the most lovely sweet Oud and tropical fruit scent but it’s 70/30. I find it helps if my body heat is a bit higher so this might pop in warmer weather. I suspect I am somewhat anosmic to Ambroxan.
This will be one I take to the Canary Islands on holiday later in the year, let’s see it at 35°c. Assuming they don’t sell out yet again.

I have previously sampled Erba Gold and God of Fire both of which had a terrible synthetic headache inducing aroma chemicals. They also used a messy muddled base that was disagreeable.
I think you could layer Tales from Zanzibar for more body if you like your scents to be bold. I do like to really smell what I’m wearing.

M.O.A.P.C is slowly becoming one of my absolute favorite brands. Every fragrance I have tried so far feels unique, luxurious, and of very high quality. I ordered Trouble in Paradise without hesitation, blind from Jovoy.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the mango. And what a mango it is. Juicy, tropical, and incredibly realistic, almost as if you were cutting into a perfectly ripe fruit.

At first, the scent feels like a sparkling, ice-cold mango lemonade. Fruity, refreshing, and instantly uplifting. After a short time, the mango becomes creamier and slightly sweet, while the fragrance acquires an elegant powdery nuance. The violet adds a surprisingly refined and almost velvety aspect to the composition.

Over time, a hint of oud emerges in the background. It gives the mango depth and an elegant, slightly woody side.

The best part about this fragrance is that the mango remains consistently present, only changing in character. Initially sparkling and juicy, then creamy and soft, later powdery and elegant, and in the dry down, slightly woody.

This is not a simple mango. It feels tropical, juicy, and at the same time remarkably elegant.

I am truly delighted.

A beautifully pleasant combination of mango and oud, which clearly places more focus on the mango. Furthermore, a slight alcoholic note can also be detected in the background. Otherwise, the scent is distinctly sweet and fruity. A very likable fragrance with very good longevity and good sillage. Unfortunately, the price for 50 ml is a bit too high for what you get.
