དཀྱིལ་གྱི་མེ་ཏོག་བར་མ། - The flowers of the center
Sometimes they are hidden associations that re-inhabit the present, lingering dormant in the subconscious as indistinct connotations that heal injuries still growing unnoticed somewhere in the soul through connections to the past, through familiar memories. Sometimes they are a small magical store in which oriental incense sticks, sage brooms and flower soaps float like dust in beams of light. They are warm like sepia photographs, healing like the power of an iolite, sometimes colored deep blue by lotus flowers blooming from your midst. They listen to the sound of tuberose trumpets of iris silk and jasmine, the sweet purple glow of smoke from Far Eastern temples. They creep with their leathery paws on soft resinous barks, where traces of Kashmir musk deer open their blue eyes

Frederic Gieselbach's one-man label Nebiru Parfums works exclusively with very high-quality raw materials, which is also evident in the attar "Iolith", which is limited to less than 30 bottles of 3g each. The name refers to a deep blue crystal that is also considered a healing stone for various psychological and physical areas. The fact that Iolite actually has a positive effect on me, however, certainly has less to do with the name than with the extremely exciting combination of nag champa, blue lotus and various ouds, which dominate the overall composition and unite my positive memories of incense sticks with a penchant for resinous woods with an earthy, smoky and slightly animalic character, which are connected by fleshy, opulent flowers at the heart. However, there are many more facets to these three leitmotifs.
Soapy aldehydes and cool sage carry the concise Nag Champa top note before an opulent, fleshy-silky floral accord of blue lotus, slightly earthy iris and sweet jasmine unfolds from the middle of the Indian incense vibes, reminding me a little of tuberose, while the Japanese incense subtly continues the smoky theme. The different types of oud in the base are already perceptible in facets at the beginning (at times I also noticed slightly cheesy, subtly stalky, but above all earthy, resinous and woody aromas), but the different varieties only emerge more clearly in the base. Somewhat leathery civet and blue musk, according to Gieselbach a mixture of synthetic musk compounds and "snarling" cashmere musk, continue the narcotic, beguiling trail of the ouds and sandalwoods and actually lend it a bluish purple hue. Iolith projects rather moderately and transparently over several hours.
