the royal temple of the east
and once again we (the perfumer of these amazing scents and I) spent our lunch break together in our favorite cigar lounge, enjoying a great Cuban cigar during a relaxed discussion. We gladly used the time for our shared passion "amazing scents." Here, I had the good fortune to get my hands on a fantastic fragrance from "Nebiru." It was String Theory Extrait as a perfume spray. For me, this was a special honor, as it is once sold out and I was able to learn the story behind it. So I was very curious about what awaited me now.
I spray this fragrance directly onto my skin. With such natural scents, this is truly the best thing you can do. What can I say, "bäääähhhhmmm, what is this!?" Just wow. I absolutely did not expect that. Until now, I was not familiar with the individual fragrance notes. So it means letting the scent unfold and letting my thoughts wander.
On the first sniff, I get something incredibly fruity, dense, absolutely natural. Sweet, yes, but really very natural and not too sweet. Until now, I only knew overly sweet or rather artificial "oriental" fragrances. This one has truly shown me a new kind of sweetness. Classy. The scent is so rounded and dense that it creates such a harmonious composition. I am always very cautious with rose and iris, as they often feel too much, too old, too kitschy, or something else. But here, simply wonderfully intertwined and in no way too much or intense. The roses and the blue lotus are wonderful and provide a slight floral quality without being really floral. The ouds are beautifully combined and woven together. There is absolutely no sign of barnyard oud. Just a wonderful woodiness that you can enjoy. Hyrax, musk, civet, all animalic notes. But even here, so finely and beautifully woven that this animalic aspect rather rounds things off and embraces you, connecting with you like a veil.
What lingers in my nose the whole time is an animal, somehow something dark and leathery. Not the usual animalic scent, no, an animal, but without being really known as animalic. It is wonderful and quite extraordinary. Here, I also learned how this "animalic" aspect comes about.
I must say that the perfume spray is brighter, more open, and also radiates more. The animalic aspect comes through more. Whether attar or spray is ultimately a matter of personal taste. I find both wonderful. Currently, I own the "String Theory (Attar) | Nebiru Parfvms." The longevity is also out of this world. The quality is, of course, outstanding here as well.
Many thanks to Frederic for the experience.
