the royal temple of the Orient
and again we (the perfumer of these great fragrances and I) spent the lunch break together in our regular cigar lounge and enjoyed a great Cuban cigar during a relaxed chat. We gladly used the time for our other passion "great fragrances". Here I was lucky again to get my hands on a great fragrance from "Nebiru". It was String Theory Extrait as a perfume spray. For me, this was a special honor as it is sold out once and I could learn the story behind it. So I was very excited to see what was in store for me.
I spray this fragrance directly onto my skin. With natural fragrances like this, it really is the best thing you can do. What can I say "bäääähhhhmmm, what is that!". Simply wow. I absolutely did not expect that. I had never heard of the individual fragrances before. So I just let the fragrance take effect and let my mind wander.
At first sniff, I get something incredibly fruity, dense and absolutely natural. Sweet yes, but really very natural and not too sweet. Until now, I only knew over-sweetened or rather artificial "oriental" fragrances. This one really showed me a new sweetness. It's great. The fragrance is so round and dense that it simply creates such a harmonious composition. I'm always very careful with rose and iris because it often becomes too much for me, too old, too kitschy or whatever. But here, simply wonderfully interwoven and in no way too much or intense. The roses and blue lotus are wonderful and give a light floral without being really floral. The ouds are wonderfully combined and interwoven. There is absolutely no sign of barnyard oud. Just a wonderful woodiness that you can get and enjoy. Hyrax, bisam, civet, all animalic notes. But again, so finely and wonderfully interwoven that this animalic rather rounds you off and embraces you and blends with you into a veil.
What is in my nose all the time is an animal, somehow something dark and leathery. Not the usual animalic, no, an animal, but without really being familiar animalic. It is wonderful and quite extraordinary. Here, too, I was able to experience how this "animality" comes about.
I have to say that the perfume spray is brighter, more open and also more radiant. The animalism comes through more. Whether attar or spray is ultimately a matter of taste. I think both are wonderful. I currently own the String Theory Attar. The longevity is once again out of this world. The quality is of course outstanding here too.
Many thanks to Frederic for the experience.
