the "mother" of Shalini
immediately when I smelled this, the word "mother" came to my mind. not coincidentally, Shalini said that this fragrance was meant to invoke the moon (hence "lumiere") and be the counterpart to Paradis Provence.
the moon archetypically has symbolized the mother in many cultures, and so I think it's absolutely brilliant that even without having known this intention, I had a such a strong and immediate impression of those themes. even though my own mother may not enjoy this perfume, I can't help but reflect on her as a result of smelling this.
this scent has quite a few similarities to Shalini, the first in the series, in that they both heavily feature white florals. however, this one is a bit more mature and a bit more simplistic. this one is more silvery green and incense, while Shalini is more about light/fresh green and creaminess. I do feel, in a sense, this is the "mother" of that perfume.
redolessence has a video, as well as colognoisseur has a blog post, about the iris in this composition. I have seen some reviews saying that there is no iris in here, but the quality of the iris is simply different here. it is more green rather than lipstick. personally, I prefer something fresh like this, as something like Iris Poudre by Frederic Malle or You by Glossier is nice, but can veer into old lady-ish or cloying if not careful.
