Sweet, yet heady
This is very sweet upon initial application. It’s almost like candy floss. The pomegranate gives it some fruitiness, but it is SWEET! Within 5-10 minutes, the tiare comes peeking through and lends it a “dusky” quality. It’s heady and rich and brought me almost to the point of sneezing. The addition of jasmine and orange blossom round it out.

I sprayed this twice on the back of my neck/hair, once to my chest, and once on each arm. That was too much. It is potent juice. It is sickeningly sweet at first, and then the florals are just overpowering. Two sprays to the back of my neck and in my hair would lend a sufficient amount of scent wafting around me for the whole day. The florals stick around for a long time. The drydown is mostly creamy vanilla and not much patchouli (on me).

I like this, but it is better in small doses. I don’t like it as much as the original, but it meets my need for the tiare flower note. It’s got personality, but it’s not a superstar.

Top quality solar floral! If you don't find this one anymore try Le Parfum Elie Saab
I wish I had kept all the empty bottles of Classique. It was my signature for many years since it was released. I have worn at least 15 bottles. I have had many flankers of it during the years but this Classique Intense I love the most. It’s not so similar with the og which the name makes you think. It’s made of two separate units: 40% of the fragrance is the original creation, and 60% are new, added components. However, the original is not totally same formula anymore (I was lucky to find great vintage ones) which it used to be so I don’t know about these figures. For me this is completely the different scent with some of the same notes in it.

Classique Intense is very mellow and seductive, it’s classy and solar. It radiates the warmth and light around you. White florals are mostly hidden under the thick honeyed golden base of Vanilla and Patchouli. The base is surprisingly different from what you might think of the notes. This is sweet but not sugary and Vanilla is not obvious edible either. I don’t think this at all as a gourmand despite of creamy and fruity Tiare Flower and Pomegranate in the opening. The scent feels somewhat oriental take on white florals and all the notes are blended perfectly together. Like the og this may cause headache because of its intoxicating intensity.

Edit: If you love Classique Intense and don't want to pay crazy ebay prices, you should try Elie Saab Le Parfum (it's edp). It's made by Francis Kurkdjian as well (2011) and it's smelling quite similar intensive white florals with solar feeling and honey like sweetness. Flowers are a bit more heady first and there is not Vanilla so JPG feels somewhat more balanced in the beginning. JPG maintains an intense slightly more complex aroma while Le Parfum turns into more subtle and delicate one. It unfolds into an incredibly well balanced scent which feels fluffy and velvety soft. They are not like identical twins but siblings with a lot of same dna. There is not so much differences in the dry down. Elie Saab Le Parfum you can still find and in a very good price and look at that bottle! It’s so cute! My bottle is from 2016 and I haven't tried the most new formulas but since there is not that kind of IFRA regulated ingredients I assume that it hasn't changed so much.

Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful.

Involuntarily Enthralled
I have to share a brief comment. Everything has already been said about the fragrance notes.
Jean Paul Gaultier has never really interested me much. I never liked "Classique" and not the men's version either.

But then a few days ago at work (clinic):
A patient came in for an examination. She was sitting in the waiting room, which is a few meters away from the examination room, separated by a hallway and doors.
As I went out to fetch her, a subtle sweet scent wafted towards me. And when I stood at the threshold of the waiting room and saw her for the first time, 3 meters away, it was unavoidable, overwhelming.
An extremely intense, sweet, and floral scent. A scent of orange, Tiare, and vanilla. But somehow it was also cloying, pudding-like, and heavy, even though it had a fruity aspect.

She perfumed the entire hallway, the examination room, just by walking through, and the examination room, which is not exactly small. Even during the half-hour examination, while she was alone and we were at the workstation in the waiting area, it still smelled so intense.
I kept wondering whether I should mention it to her or not.
Of course, I did, as I wanted to know which perfume was so strong and lasted so incredibly long....
She didn't immediately know the name, it must have been a gift, then she remembered Gaultier and intense. And I asked if it was a women's bottle... Yes!
Well, now I knew a bit more.
Then I told her that I was curious because all the rooms were extremely scented.
And she was totally shocked. She said she only sprayed it twice! And that was several hours ago at home!
.....
Incredible!!!!

I immediately googled it and found it.
Actually, it’s not really the perfect scent for my taste... but I ended up buying it anyway ^^
You really have to be careful when and where you wear it, and especially how much.
Better to use it for the evening or in autumn/winter. : )

spacious
Today I rummaged through the samples and found Classique Intense.

I dared to spray a little - and sank into the chair, dazed.

The term "Intense" has been taken literally here, as the scent has a legendary intensity.

I am enveloped in a cloud of fragrance that you can almost grasp.

My husband coughs discreetly, and the dog retreats, irritated, to its basket.

I usually prefer full-bodied scents, but this one is too spacious for me as well.
It has something oppressive - and my husband indignantly leaves the room with the word: "Terrible."
I don’t find Intense that extreme - the fullness would be somewhat acceptable, but an undefinable bitterness darkens the room.
Sweetness only briefly hints at the beginning, then there’s the strange transformation into bitterness, and with emphasis.

Could it be the pomegranate-patchouli combination?
Jasmine and orange blossom disappear behind this dark veil.
Vanilla only flashes briefly to say hello.

For me, Intense comes across as too bitter and somehow blunt. So, it’s not a candidate for purchase.
A good message for my husband.

A sort of Kurkdjian or Agent Orange in a golden bottle
Indeed: The perfumer of this fragrance was Francis Kurkdjian.
Naturally, this piques curiosity, and I was very pleased when I received a sample of this perfume as a gift. So I tested it right away.

Immediately, I am enveloped in a brutally sweet floral cloud. Jasmine and especially Tiarè cling sticky to my olfactory nerves and nearly incapacitate them. An overdose of vanilla and the orange blossoms cheerfully join in, trampling the pomegranate, which contributes a slightly fruity note in its death struggle. My nostrils try to constrict in horror, but it's too late: This perfume completely glues me down with its overloaded, floral sweetness. Does it ever subside? Fortunately, yes, but it takes a while... After this sugary overkill finally subsides a bit, some patchouli joins in. It comes across quite synthetic, but fits well with the rest. It is, after all... well? Right: Sweet.

I can't say anything objective about the sillage; I had the feeling that my sugary nightmare could be smelled from 100 meters away. The longevity is (in this case unfortunately) very good.

The bottles from Gaultier are, of course, a matter of taste; I personally find them ugly to the point of embarrassment. Affected, forced eroticism can never be sexy.
My conclusion: I agree with the recommendation on the right: If you like Hypnotic Poison, you should definitely try Classique Intense. Just please not in my vicinity...

Very strong suntan lotion scent asking for Judy to be clad in striped swimsuit instead of the C-3PO look.

FK flexed his orange blossom muscles on this scent. The patchouli adds a warmth to such flighty notes. An FK I love... At last.

And yet another energetic orange blossom wonder where I can't perceive anything from the other ingredients at all. Very sweet & satisfying. Phew...

Mainstream? I don't care! When olala - orange blossom meets super sweet vanilla, then it's "my scent"! Longevity is fantastic, I love it!

Why did this wonderful scent pass me by? Classique with a twist. The exotic Tiaré awakens the senses. Intense.

Taken off the market in early 2020. With a bit of luck, you can still find JPG Classique Intense in perfumeries or online shops: R.I.P. Titanic of fragrances.
