An Intense Honey Scent

If you are into intense honey scents, you should definitely give Gold a try. I find it quite successful but also a bit boring. Qualitatively, it is still a very pleasant unisex fragrance to wear. The longevity on my skin is more than 12 hours with a rather moderate sillage.

Since the complexity of the scent is limited, I won't be able to elaborate further on top, heart, or base notes. The smell is very sweet, gourmand, oriental-spicy, leathery, slightly smoky, balsamic, resinous, and delicately floral. I detect aromas of flower honey, amber, benzoin, saffron, allspice, nutmeg, marigold, and myrrh.

In the end, I'm not quite sure what to make of "Gold | Shalini," especially since my best friend also described the fragrance as rather unremarkable. I thank Alex for the sample.

Fragile Tenderness

Fragile Tenderness.
Saffron minutes pass in leathery slowness.
Time flows tick tock
like golden honey
from amber-colored veins.
The world holds its incense/myrrh breath.

Saffron without rose. That I get to experience this. And a good one at that. Matte. Dry.
In my mind, it evokes a slight leatheriness. Like the fine threads of time, the other notes join in. First honey, dark golden, but not much. By the time the incense/myrrh note arrives, the fragrance has wrapped me around its finger. Very delicate. The myrrh weaves in a subtle, minimal sweetness. The scent begins to live. The clock ticks again. It becomes softer, more balsamic, amber makes the pulse throb.
The curling flower...
Honestly, I don't necessarily smell anything floral, but Maurice Roucel could have drawn it with the fragrance, as it is a little plant that grows in a fragile environment, and its softness comes to light in its healing effect.

You may wonder... She raves so, but 'only' a 9.
This is a fragrance that does not want to be a 10.
Some may not like the fragile opening, may be bothered by saffron when reading the notes, by honey, or the sweetness at the end, and certainly by the price. Surely the fragrance is not something completely new, and yet Maurice Roucel has composed it so precisely that from the unremarkable, it becomes the healing balm.
A drop sprayed on in the evening lasted beautifully on my skin the entire next day, discreet and gorgeous.
