This Is Not a Love Spell Sorce 2024 Extrait de Parfum

This fragrance is the color purple. At the forefront there’s sweet, jammy berry goodness and sweet, romantic violet (done in a remarkably non-powdery way). A fresh, wet greenness grows as the scent dries down, followed by more purple florals. Canning preserves in your kitchen with the windows open, the warm breeze wafting in the scents of your garden. Running out of berries and going outside to pick some more, surrounded by berry bushes and fresh soil. Then back inside for more canning, and finally, into the garden.

Jammy fruit is hit-or-miss for me. This was definitely a hit. I love the greenness, too! I just wish the dry down stayed more jammy and green and less floral.

Blueberry is, in my humble opinion, a criminally underused fruit note in perfumery. Strawberry is everywhere, raspberry has gained popularity in recent years, blackberry is starting to have a moment, but blueberry? Blueberry is seldom found outside of niche and indie perfumery, and even then it isn't terribly common. And when it *is* used, most often it's not noticeable, at least in my experience. Burberry Her Eau de Parfum, for example, lists a blueberry note, but I cannot detect it. Sorce This Is Not A Love Spell, however, comes forth as a champion for blueberry notes by placing it front and center.

The initial spray can be a little odd to some, and it made me cock my head during the first impression when I got my sample. It's a little tart and perhaps even a tad green for those first few seconds, almost like being outdoors and picking the berries right off of the bush with a few accidental broken leaves in the process. But after that, it quickly settles and warms into a beautiful, realistic pot of freshly made blueberry jam that's ready to be ladled into pretty glass jars with a cute swatch of gingham fabric over the lids. I do get a hint of spice, not enough to overtake the fruit, though, and the violet note supports the blueberry jam instead of dominating it. The blend maintains that sweet, juicy-to-jammy smell without turning cloying or too candied, with just the barest hint of vanilla at the end. The final dry-down suggests that not only have you made blueberry jam, you've also baked some blueberry muffins. It's cute, it's fun, it's ridiculously enjoyable. You're a smalltown witch in her "blueberry girl meets cottagecore" aesthetic era (if this is you, can we be friends?).

Performance is fantastic for the price. At least 6 hours of longevity in more active scenarios or warmer weather, with modest projection. I don't think you'd fill a room with this unless you really overdid it, but it's not a skin-hugging scent, either. And despite blueberries being a summer fruit, the purple florals, hints of star anise, and touch of vanilla make this feel like it could be worn any time of year and not feel out of place. I got my sample in November/December of 2025, and I had to ration it out because it became one of my favorites so quickly despite the cold.

Seriously, this is my favorite from Sorce so far, with Ephemera being a very close second. This is a berry fragrance for all the folks who want something other than the ever-popular strawberry, but also don't want to break the bank. (I'm sure Poets of Berlin by Vilhelm and Flux by Andrea Maack, for example, are also great, but not everyone has that kind of money, you know? Not in *this* economy.) I've been letting my florals have their moment for spring so far, but I am eagerly looking forward to putting this beauty back on my monthly tray.

At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about this one. It's so juicy and tart! But throughout the day, the sour-sticky-sweetness grew on me and I could NOT stop sniffing my wrists. It's addictive, really.

Maybe it really *is* a love spell.

She's sour blueberry jam on a warm sunny day, with a splash of green powdery floral to round her out. She's even a little... herbal? Spicy? Magical?

She's delicious. Would devour.

I’m confused on how some people think it’s not blueberry heavy because all I can smell for the first few hours is blueberry (not in a bad way it all) then it softens and becomes really nice. I think people need to sample it on them for sure before buying it since so many people have different experiences. It projects SO good too I’m upgrading to a full body asap

Sampled this today and it immediately reminded me of Dama Bianca. The violet in both of these must be very pronounced to my nose. The comparisons to hairspray for the opening aren’t wrong either, it’s a vibe for sure.

Once this settles down, it becomes a soft, slightly powdery floral scent. Very pretty but not quite my style. I don’t smell any blueberry in my sample - I have the blueberry version of Sorce’s IDAFT and that blueberry is intense at first spray, but not able to sense that in this one.

A decent choice for a spring fragrance. I can see myself using up this 2ml but wouldn’t repurchase.
