In Dreams and Fairy Tales - Vanilla Sorce 2025 Extrait de Parfum

I’ve been on a mission to find another Sorce scent to add to my collection (my "English Major | Sorce / Sorcellerie Apothecary" is getting quite lonely), so when word of this line came out, I was eager to try most, if not all of them. And immediately, my brain went to Winx Club. I mean, Dreams & Fairytales is quite fitting if you ask me.

Blueberry absolutely blew me away, considering the fact that I’m not a berry girl. I feel like it’s the underdog from this whole line and no one talks about it. IMO, it’s the most well balanced of all the scents and the blueberry is just perfection. It has an “indigo” feel to is and the berry is sweet, juicy, and doesn’t pull too tart, or on the other hand, ripe. Think Musa, the music fairy. Melodious and elegant.

Strawberry Rosewater would have been a smash hit for me if it wasn’t for the strawberry. Very on par for me to not be fond of this one, but however, the rose paired with the strawberry made this scent so pretty! I actually really liked this more as the strawberry calmed down and the rose grew with the yummy notes. A floral gourmand definitely, so if you don’t like rose, idk if you’ll like this one. Think Flora, the nature fairy. Ruler of fruits and flowers.

Vanilla is cute. That’s it lol. It’s the most faint of all the ones I smelled, but the scent is a really nice, linear vanilla. The chamomile adds a nice touch of herbal to a super *sweet* scent (almost too sweet). Nothing to write home about, but the simple vanilla girlies will definitely love this, especially with that added sugar note. Think Bloom, leader of the pack. Keeps the group grounded, much like vanilla keeps all of them grounded.

Passionfruit was okay to me. It’s a nice, fruity gourmand, but the passion fruit feels a bit too tart for me. It got better as it dried down, but overall, its not the passionfruit I tend to like in fragrances. This one also felt too sweet for me as the Vanilla, but this will be great for the girlies that really enjoy intense fruit in their gourmands. This could be a great tropical scent for the gourmand girls. This Stella, the sun and moon fairy. Bright, fun, and joyous.

Pistachio is the only one I cannot give an honest review for, but based on the notes and some other reviews I read, it sounds like it’ll be the most gourmand of them all, with a nice nutty/woody facet as pistachio notes tend to portray. I don’t think it’ll be anything like "Cheirosa '62 / Brazilian Crush Cheirosa '62 | Sol de Janeiro", but maybe more like Pistachio Latte, which was a simple, sweet nutty dessert. I’d associate this one with Tecna, the technology fairy. The pistachio makes it standout from the rest.

Winx Club lovers (at least those who’ve watched the original WC), I hope you’d agree with my selections LOL. Will definitely be upgrading my 15 ml of Blueberry to a 30 ml because it’s just THAT good. Excited to see what Caitlin creates next!

VANILLA: While vanilla is inherently a sweet note, this is even on the sweeter side of vanillas, which I assume must be the sugar note doing its thing. I would compare this to the original Eilish perfume in terms of levels of sweetness, but in every other way this is unique to any other vanilla perfume I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot) and even from Sorce’s other vanilla-heavy scents. It’s dessert-y, for sure, reminiscent of baking vanilla. This DNA is present in all the rest of the In Dreams varieties, making them easy to layer with each other.

PISTACHIO: This is Sorce’s take on the popular sweet pistachio-vanilla combo a lot of houses have been coming out with lately. I’ve tried many versions of this combo and I would place this solidly in the middle of the nutty-to-sweet pistachio-vanilla scale. It’s unique enough that it doesn’t smell like it’s trying to dupe any existing scents on the market. On my first test, this scent had a Play-doh-y quality to it, which I’ve smelled in other pistachio-vanilla perfumes, but after letting it rest and trying again, that thankfully went away.

PASSIONFRUIT: I didn’t know whether I’d be able to identify passionfruit but I recognized it immediately upon smelling it. This whole scent is somewhat reminiscent of working at a smoothie shop (best-smelling job I’ve ever had). This scent would be a smoothie shop next door to an ice cream shop, since that vanilla DNA is still very present. After letting the scent rest, the passionfruit only gets stronger, though the vanilla is still present, especially on the dry down.

BLUEBERRY: Smoothie shop, the sequel! If the passionfruit version smells like all the tropical smoothies I made at that job, this smells like the berry smoothies. There was a blueberry lemonade one on the menu when I worked there and this reminds me strongly of that. This is an acidic, tart blueberry, as opposed to a sweet, jammy blueberry. It’s a strong note, even stronger than the passionfruit in the previous scent. The vanilla DNA is much weaker in the background, mostly adding sweetness.

STRAWBERRY ROSEWATER: I normally hate any scent with a rose note on me. On other people, love it. On me, no. But something told me Sorce would come through for me here and they absolutely did. This is a sweet, candied rose, perfectly balanced with an equally sweet strawberry. I’m picturing filling a bath with rose petals and eating strawberries with whipped cream. Once again, the strawberry rosewater note is clear the star of the show, and the rest of the notes are providing that sweetness, though they do come out more in the dry down.

This fluffy, dreamy, airy meringue fragrance happens to have five "flavor" variants, including regular vanilla (the version that is seen above), blueberry, pistachio, strawberry rosewater, and passion fruit. And luckily, I have all of these as decants including this regular vanilla! Here is my review of each of them, please enjoy!

Vanilla: It's a fluffy, whipped scent of vanilla and sugar with a sleepy chamomile note, like a dreamy fairytale. This is a light, whipped, airy meringue scent that lacks the heaviness that some vanilla scents have. It's not an overwhelming presence of strong and suffocating sweetness. Instead it's very fluffy scent of classic meringue. 9/10

Strawberry Rosewater: A sweet rose water scent paired with sugary strawberry. It doesn't take an overwhelming front seat, and luckily stays true to keeping the meringue smell! It smells quite like candied rose instead of a powdery floral scent that lots of rose notes carry. The strawberry note smells just like the strawberry flavoring including in sweet treats rather than a realistic strawberry. 6.5/10

Pistachio: I had a bit of an odd experience with this one. I can hardly smell this fragrance at all compared to the others. I've seen a few people say that there is a "playdoh" like smell in this variant, to which i sadly agree. All I can smell is something vaguely sweet, vaguely pistachio, and something like playdoh. 4/10

Blueberry: The smell of candied blueberry smells much stronger here than the added "flavoring options" of the other variants. It's very candy like, and doesn't smell as true to a meringue cookie. It smells like sour blueberry candy to me, so it's not exactly bad, but it's not my favorite. 6/10

Passion Fruit: The smell from this one each time I sprayed it to smell was so non-existent at first, that I began to question if I received a decant from a bad batch. It took a bit before I could detect the very light smell of passion fruit candy. It reminded me quite a lot of a passion fruit flavored salt water taffy I had eaten recently, except the smell was so light that I barely smelled it at all. 2/10

OVERALL: The only one that I genuinely feel was actually worth it was the Vanilla one, which is the one displayed on this page. The others just didn't feel complete to me. I really liked the concept of different flavor options from an assortment of meringue cookies, but I just wish I was actually able to smell all of them.

Reviews for the versions i tried :
- Vanilla - at first i could not really smell it, it was super faint. What i could smell, it just smelled like a sugary vanilla, similar to vanille from solinotes/outremer. Then the longer i had it, the stronger it became. Now it smells like the pillsbury vanilla icing. Super sweet and creamy but there is a brightness to it from the bergamot and a slight warm/burnt sugar in the background. However that does not stop it from smelling like frosting. So yummy! Im glad they made this.

- Passionfruit - smells like sweet but tart gummies. Very very fruity, if you love fruity scents, this is for you. I don't get any of that og vanilla dna in this whatsoever. There is something a little “alcohol-y” with this, not like the alcohol used in fragrances, the kind you drink lol. I get a vague fruity beer maybe?

- Strawberry Rosewater - same with the passionfruit, it is sweet but tart at the same time. This doesn't have the same gummy candy scent more of a hard strawberry candy, there is a floral aspect to it but not enough to call it a floral scent. It reminds me a bit of the pink drink from starbucks, the scent of that but add a floral note to it.

This perfume is warm, sweet, and reminds you of a distant childhood memory. It smells like vanilla mixed with the synthetic smell of a doll's head. It's a little powdery, a little warm, but just the right amount of sweetness. It's kind of fuzzy too, which I can't quite explain. I don't love this fragrance, but I wouldn't say I dislike it.
