A Touch of Jordan
Today, I took the time to visit Marc Gebauer in Düsseldorf to test the fragrance "Petra" by The Nose Behind. As soon as I entered the store, I felt this special atmosphere - elegant, calm, and at the same time inviting. It had a subtle scent of high-quality perfumes, and everything seemed perfectly coordinated. I felt immediately at ease, as if stepping into a small, fragrant paradise.

The staff warmly welcomed me and showed me the current collections. When she brought out "Petra," I realized that this would not be an ordinary fragrance. She explained the inspiration behind the perfume: the rock city of Petra in Jordan, a place full of history, secrets, and timeless beauty. I was curious whether the scent could truly capture this story.

Upon the first spray, I was immediately surprised by the fresh top note: pomegranate, cool mint tea, and magnolia merged into a vibrant, almost sparkling opening. It felt as if I were wandering through the narrow Siq, the cool morning air on my skin, while the sun slowly rose over the red rocks.

After a few minutes, the heart of the fragrance unfolded: papyrus and juniper, combined with raspberry and a hint of coconut, created an exciting blend of earthiness and light sweetness. I could almost feel the warm sand beneath my feet and the rugged rocks around me. It was as if the scent was telling stories of ancient trading caravans that once traversed the desert.

Particularly fascinating was the base note that emerged after a while: warm amber, soft vanilla, a touch of musk, and the mystical scent of incense. This combination gave the perfume a meditative depth that completely captivated me. I stood still for a moment, closed my eyes, and imagined the treasure chamber of Petra, bathed in golden light - still, mysterious, and majestic.

In the end, I couldn't resist: I bought "Petra" right away. On the way home, it felt as if I had a small piece of this magical journey in my pocket. Every time I smell it, it reminds me of that special moment, the fascination for distant places, the beauty of nature, and the art of creating a fragrance that tells stories.

The visit to Marc Gebauer in Düsseldorf was not just a shopping trip, but an experience for all the senses. I can imagine that "Petra" could become a true favorite for many who want to embrace adventure, history, and extraordinary scents.

The weakest TNB ... Interesting start but little spectacle here after 3-4 hours it's game over
Although I (so far) stand quite alone among the praises of new account holders and few reviewers, it must be said clearly: Petra is the weakest release to date from Herbert Stricker. I sincerely hope that something went wrong in the production, because I cannot imagine that such an immature and short-lived fragrance could have emerged from the house of Nose Behinds. This was not the case with any of the 11 other TNBs I tested.

One step at a time:
With "Petra | The Nose Behind," I have now been able to test the latest creation from Herbert Stricker. After the Alpine flower (Fleur Alpine), there is now a homage or an olfactory travel report to the ancient rock city and one of the new seven wonders -> Petra, in Jordan.

The test: Freshly washed from the shower with 4 sprays on the upper arm.

After spraying:
Dark (bitter) chocolate with a floral note and slight sweetness. About five minutes later, mint slowly joins in from the background.
The scent has hardly any projection and presence. I had already felt this during my first test on the strip ...

After 15 minutes:
Chocolate becomes a bit less, but the mint now comes through more. Light sweetness still noticeable, I might attribute it to coconut or incense?! A certain "floral veil" rounds off the scent profile after 15 minutes.

After 45 minutes:
Chocolate is gone. Mint is now at the forefront with the flower. It is rounded off by a rather vanilla sweetness. The incense is hardly perceptible and will be part of the "sweet mixture." No 'smoky' incense. Nothing sacred, nothing dominant.

1.5 hours:
Light incense sweetness with very subdued, not intense mint spice in the background. The floral note (=Magnolia!?) is still there. Sillage is almost completely gone. I can already imagine with a tear in my eye that I will have to reapply in at most 3 hours - "long lasting" will not be the case here ...

2.5 hours:
Petra has diminished immensely in the last 60 minutes. Immensely!
The scent is now just a light, sweet breeze. For me, the spectacle is already 90% over. I seriously wonder if something went wrong here. I am not used to such poor performance from the fragrance house The Nose Behind, on the contrary.

After 4 hours:
Finito. Game over.
Either you spray again to survive the second half of the workday or you choose another, stronger fragrance.

###########

Conclusion:
After Silk! Oud being the olfactorily worst release, I now have the weakest fragrance right in front of me with "Petra | The Nose Behind."

Herbert is known for his special, sometimes even more experimental fragrances. Especially at The Nose Behind, they do not aim to capture the mass market - the fragrances must primarily please Herbert and be mementos of experiences. This is extremely commendable and a great attitude.

The fragrance, as it is now (namely not very exciting, very generic, and with no power), does not carry the "Nose Behind" DNA for me. I rather assume that something was off in the production of the first batch. It feels like "50% finished" only.

Definitely (!) not a blind buy and no recommendation for it in its current form.

Surprisingly Good!
I tested Petra rather spontaneously, without high expectations, and was quite surprised. The scent starts with a fresh, almost cool note of mint and something fruity. It smells clean and a bit playful at the same time - very pleasant and not too loud.
After a few minutes, Petra develops significantly: The heart note becomes softer and slightly sweet, but not artificial or overly sweet. I especially like how the scent slowly transforms into something warmer. Frankincense, vanilla, and amber give it a nice depth, almost something meditative.
The longevity is good for me - about 6-7 hours, and it remains subtly perceptible on the skin even after it fades. The sillage is medium strong at first, later more intimate and perfect for everyday wear, but also for quieter evenings.
I wouldn't describe Petra as a typical everyday scent, but it is versatile enough to wear more often, especially if you're looking for something that not everyone has. Elegant, understated, but with character.

Petra - A Fragrance Journey Through Stone, Warmth, and Memory
Petra is not a scent that seeks to please - it demands attention and rewards it with depth and character. Even the first spray reveals a fascinating composition of oriental spice and velvety warmth. Resinous notes meet sensual flowers and a smoky base that lingers long without ever feeling heavy.

The fragrance reminds me of forgotten libraries in ancient desert cities, of antique mosaics, sandstone walls in the evening light, and of moments when past and present flow into one another. Petra has an almost meditative effect - calming, uplifting, powerful.

The quality of the raw materials is outstanding, the sillage elegant, the longevity impressive. A fragrance for those who seek the extraordinary and are unafraid to make a statement.

Conclusion: Petra is not just a perfume - it is an olfactory masterpiece. Mysterious, profound, and beautiful.

Very nice relaxing earthy fruity smell but unfortunately doesn’t last or project. But that isn’t really a big issue anyway.

Great scent, light chocolate-mint vibes at first - little fruit, gentle smoky sweetness lingers. H/S a bit meh, oh well! Just reapply ;)

Generic, familiar, and lacking excitement. Unfortunately, nothing particularly interesting from the house. I miss the spirit of the early releases!

Starts off animalistic and barn-like in the first minute, then fades out with rose and mint. No idea why this pointless release exists.

Floral base of all Amorist,
but with pomegranate - creamy & very fruity.
The mint note gives it a fresh-elegant edge.
