Iris ... iris again and again - indefinable synthetic fruits - creaminess
After a total of 9 "The Nose Behind" fragrances tested and reviewed, Avenue Montaigne is now my 10th fragrance from the manufacturer.
And unfortunately, the finale was not boring.
One website (parisjetaime) states "Avenue Montaigne, which connects the Champs-Elysées with the Alma Bridge, is considered one of the most exclusive and luxurious arteries in the capital. The most important haute couture brands such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Céline, Thierry Mugler, Saint-Laurent Paris, Prada, Gucci."
Well ... I can't smell this exclusivity and luxury here now, the only thing that is of high(er) quality is the iris it contains.
But first things first:
The fragrance starts with an intense, pungent iris note paired with synthetic fruits. The problem: apart from a certain creaminess and a slight powderiness, nothing more is added over the next 4-5 hours.
After 5 hours, the iris fades much more into the background, after 7 hours you can only smell it closer to the skin and finally (!) the iris is gone and a pleasant amber-vanilla - on - wood - residue remains.
I'm not really a fan of iris, but I thought that the fragrance pyramid was actually quite interesting and varied, so I gave it a try.
Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. Far too straightforward, too boring in the DNA and too expensive for all the synthetics in the perfume.
Too bad, I thought that the last one in my test series "The Nose Behind" would be a bit better, but nope - unfortunately not.
Conclusion:
Unisex - yes.
Definitely see it for the cooler season or temperatures below 15°C.
You have to like Iris yourself and others in the room. Only suitable for daily wear to a very limited extent, but can be worn in leisure time and in the evening.
----------
What remains for me after 10 tested TNBs is the realization that there were few exciting, earth-shattering DNAs. I would give many of them a school grade of 3+ to 2-. Good, but nothing extraordinary. I would have expected more from Herbert.
The only ones that justify the retail price of 175€ for me are Hakama, Kobe Gardens and especially Miami South Beach. The latter in particular really "flashed" me and shows what niche can mean.
