Finally - a K collection fume I like
Kemi is very interesting in its evolution as it dries down. It opens with a fresh blast of cherry which last less than a minute and is supplanted by barnyard oud. As the manure pile gets smaller, a medicinal, cough syrup scent appeared. During this phase, I got occasional whiffs of caramel. As the dry down progressed, the medicinal aspect retreated and the scent became a very smooth and creamy combination of sweetness, vanilla + caramel and woody oud. The smell in the air was especially attractive. Nose to skin, revealed a remnant of the oud barnyard, although very subtle (nothing to worry about). Kemi also has a nicely complementing animalic accord. Performance is beast mode. I'm currently at 11 hours and it's still going strong. Projection was very strong for the first few hours. Kemi should be applied at least 30 to 45 minutes before meeting people to enable it to settle and get past the challenging phase.
I'm very impressed with Kemi and have added it to my shopping list. This is the first fume from the K Collection that I really like and feel is FB worthy.

Stunning
A 10/10 for me, straight. Smelly opening to be honest, animalic and stinky/fecal oud but that's part of the beauty. Once it dries, the caramel and vanilla are mixing with the animalic raw notes, oud and woods. The result is breath-taking :
A mature woody vanilla, still a bit stinky (but not that much) with woods and sweet heaven.
Performance is almost nuclear : Very strong performance (12+ hours) and also solid sillage/scent trail for the first 2-3 hours.
Not for everyone, but count me in.
I love this one !

The Unfathomable Beauty of the Drydown
The Kemi is my new discovery of 2023, my absolute highlight in the realm of animalic oud fragrances.

Why?
At first, the Kemi actually comes off a bit stinky. The barnyard note is quite noticeable. Warm-creamy, the whole cowpat aroma then settles into a bed of candies, caramels, and fruit preserves.

These wonderful candy notes in Kemi clearly remind me of those fairground stalls where the pastilles are arranged in containers next to and on top of each other, and you can freely serve yourself with a pointed plastic bag. Syrupy fruit scent. Raspberry, strawberry, yes, also somewhat woodruff, along with a certain but clearly perceptible ethereal aroma in the background. As a child, I loved these “candy shops,” and Kemi transports me right back to those nostalgic memories.

But now to the “stinky” oud aroma, which is definitely present but quickly diminishes over time. The drydown is among the best I have ever had the pleasure of smelling. I think it is precisely this animalic-sweet confections-etheric twist that makes the Kemi so wonderful. It just fits together; the animalic notes align so finely with the candy aroma that both create an incredibly beautiful symbiosis, making this fragrance so unique. I have it on my wrist, and my nose is practically glued to it all day. It’s addictive to smell! By the way, I was informed upon inquiry that the animalic aspect is not really perceived as such in the air.

Oh Kemi… So magical, so unique, so fascinating, so beautifully warming, so sweet-candy-like, so grandiosely ethereal, and so full of nostalgic childhood feelings in one fragrance. And yet you are so wearable, attractive, and striking.
Wearability:
Yes, yes, and yes! Anytime in leisure!
In the office and at business meetings, I would prefer to reach for other fragrances due to the slight stinky animalic aspect.

Longevity:
The scent comes off oily. It easily lasts 10 hours+. 9/10

Sillage: Well perceptible, but never annoyingly intrusive. Just right! In the first half hour, it might be a bit too stinky for some untrained noses. 8/10

Conclusion:
For me, the Kemi is underrated here in the rating. It is certainly not at home in the world of pleasing easy-to-wear fragrances, and it may be a bit unusual for untrained noses or lovers of “normal” scents at first, but it is so good that I would gladly speak in superlatives. I rarely give the full 10 points, but here it is warranted.

To those who test it: Waiting for the drydown is a must!

More courage for Kemi, more love and attention for this masterpiece!

Life Tastes Good
Cracking, the crust of freshly candied apples breaks,
Caramel flows sugary, fruity over warm vanilla crescents.

The desserts are served for nibbling on a bed of sandalwood,
Creamy, dry, woody and paired with animalistic oud.

Originating in Laos, deeply woody, dark with a pleasant stable note,
Yet in no way stinky, a radiant presence wave after wave.

But then the bag of fizzy powder bursts and trickles down fine,
Sparkling, sweet and fruity it rushes and foams up and down.

Warm, delicate shimmer of vanilla turns into a sweet cloak,
Underneath, one can clearly hear the beaver's and civet's pawing.

After a good while, the fizzy powder no longer fizzes,
Only dry wood and caramel float in the sea of vanilla.

And so we drift along on our raft of oud,
Smoking fruity flavored tobacco, yes, life tastes good.

Fin.

When Herod Broke the Heart…
And this led to a glow-up!

I just received the sample and sprayed it on my skin full of anticipation. Suddenly, a childhood memory surfaced: a certain fizzy drink (I don't need to mention the brand here ;)), which you would eat directly from the pack as a child.

On the second impression, it felt familiar in a different way. Is there a hint of Herod in there?!

But something is also different. Alongside the sweetness and gourmand character, there’s something edgy coming through. A stable? Animalic? Mixed with all these sweet associations…?

Somehow… I love it!

This almost fizzy sweetness of the fragrance mixed with the oud and the animalic notes just complements each other fantastically. This scent was definitely love at first sniff. It’s not something you’ve smelled often, but rather something that’s a bit different and “bolder.” While I do smell similarities in certain aspects to Parfums de Marly Herod (which I also love), I find that Kemi is the bolder and edgier version and definitely unique enough to stand on its own. A very great release.

Initial gorgonzola + caramel, manageable sweetness. 2-3 hours in, the atlas cedar and tame civet kick in. Maurice, is that you?

Cheesy, fruity, leathery, medicinal oud hidden in balsamic, creamy, sweet notes. Slightly burnt, like grilled camembert drizzled with honey.

Fruity, lactonic caramel behind which lie dry, woody, smoky cypriol, mild animalic notes and even more fruity, balsamic oud.

Starts out with a big bomb of cherry (not listed?) with a light sour cheesy undertone. Sweetness gets less intense in the drydown.

I've never thought wood could smell so edible. The caramel note feels really chewy, and the animalics are not as prominent as you may think.

Smells exactly like cough syrup, almost as if they were trying to recreate that awful scent.

Pleasantly confused by the full bottle. Sample was too cheesy and caramelly but bottle is much more cherry + soft oud. Guess i got lucky!

Caramel flatbreads scattered across the old creaky barn floor, cows standing carefree around. After milking, vanilla milk is ready.
