A Journey Through Memory: The New Memorie Collection by Ermenegildo Zegna

With "Memorie," Ermenegildo Zegna is launching six masculine fragrances that tell the story of the label's origins: from its initial vision and textile tradition to its connection with the alpine landscape.

Once upon a time, long ago in the Alps of northern Italy, a visionary entrepreneur had a dream. That was in 1910. From that moment on, a legacy was created that has been passed down from generation to generation. In six magical places and through six magical objects, memories become fragrances that tell a story of vision, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to nature and time.

In terms of content, the collection ties in with the origins of the company. In 1910, Ermenegildo Zegna founded the wool weaving mill Lanificio Zegna in Trivero, Piedmont, with the aim of producing particularly high-quality fabrics. Over the decades, this textile production developed into the internationally renowned fashion brand, which is still family-owned today.

Rituals, artisanal precision, and a close connection to nature shaped the founder's thinking at the time—elements that are reflected in the olfactory experience of "Memorie“. Instead of isolated compositions, the line is conceived as a continuous narrative with six chapters: from early mornings in the office to mountain roads and forests to quiet moments in the evening with family.

For the development, Ermenegildo Zegna collaborated with Quentin Bisch, Fabrice Pellegrin, and Dominique Ropion. Instead of a rigid briefing, emotion, intuition, and the creator's personal signature were to be at the forefront.

Nature as a leitmotif

Nature served as the primary source of inspiration: mountain air, forests, mineral nuances, and woods allude to the alpine origins of the house. The compositions change with each "chapter"—from clear, bright freshness to warmer, calmer tones.

The design also reflects this concept: a refillable glass bottle with a subtle color gradient and an ash wood cap featuring the family crest are intended to emphasize the product's claim to longevity.

Il Calamaio - The beginning of a vision

It is dawn. Ermenegildo Zegna, our founder, looks out of his office window at the Lanificio, our wool mill. He settles into his leather armchair and opens the newspaper: the sharp smell of printing ink mingles with the scent of wood. Pen in hand, he jots down his thoughts in his leather notebook—and develops a vision of something great.

The first olfactory chapter opens with "Il Calamaio" (the inkwell) – a fragrance that captures the moment when Ermenegildo Zegna's ideas take shape in his office in the morning.

It opens with a dark, slightly metallic ink note. At its heart, the velvety, floral elegance of Turkish rose absolute unfolds before the composition ends with a woody, subtly smoky oud base.

Il Lanificio - A tribute to craftsmanship

Ermenegildo Zegna enters the wool factory. The scent of wool fills the air—intense, unmistakable. Machines clatter in the background as production begins. The further you go in, the sweeter the air becomes with the scent of soft bales. Natural and industrial, raw and refined. Here, opposites live in harmony.

With "Il Lanificio," the focus is on the company's textile tradition and the craftsmanship with which it all began.

The composition opens with Tahitian vanilla with warm, creamy facets. This is followed by supple suede in the heart, which adds structure, before sandalwood provides a calm, velvety finish.

A Trivero - The Way Out

Ermenegildo Zegna enters his garage: the air is filled with the familiar smell of gasoline. He starts the engine of his Lancia Aurelia. As he drives, the fresh mountain air flows through the open window, and the road unfolds with every bend, revealing vast, ever-changing landscapes.

Named after the Piedmontese village where it all began, "A Trivero" stands for movement and expansiveness.

At first, Schopf lavender reveals its aromatic, slightly herbaceous freshness. Damask rose emerges in the heart, elegant and delicately spicy, before myrrh lends the fragrance a warm, balsamic finish.

The fragrance was created by Quentin Bisch.

Il Sottobosco - After the Rain

It has just stopped raining in Oasi Zegna. With every step Ermenegildo Zegna takes, the damp earth exudes an intense fragrance. Wet leaves glisten, pine needles crunch underfoot, moss hangs in the air—the forest breathes calmly. A ray of sunshine pierces the canopy. Surrounded by the embrace of nature, a feeling of familiarity and connection with the earth arises.

"Il Sottobosco" takes you to the Oasi Zegna after a rain shower.
It opens with pink pepper and subtle spice. This is followed by carrot seeds, which add a natural earthiness, before patchouli rounds off the base note with dark warmth.

La Panoramica - Between asphalt and Alpine air

The picturesque road that winds through the Oasi Zegna. Under a bright sun, Ermenegildo Zegna strolls along Route 232. Towering trees and the intense scent of pine trees soften the asphalt. Sunlight filters through the branches and casts shadows as the road winds through the hills, revealing the infinite beauty of nature.

With "La Panoramica," the mountain road itself becomes the motif—a symbol of movement and change of perspective.

Fresh pine needles with a green, aromatic presence set the tone. Lavender unfolds in the heart, before Haitian vetiver provides a dry, slightly smoky finish.

Saga del Piemonte - A cozy evening with the family

Evening falls, the fire blazes. Ermenegildo Zegna sinks into a worn armchair, a traditional Italian cherry liqueur in his hand. Laughter and chatter echo warmly in the air as the flames crackle, memories are revived and recounted in a familiar atmosphere. Outside, the world cools down; inside, the story continues.

"Saga del Piemonte" is the latest fragrance in the line and represents a return and a passing on.

The composition opens with the invigorating, aromatic depth of coffee. At its heart, cherry adds a subtle, fruity sweetness before Virginia cedarwood rounds off the fragrance with its dry, clear woody structure.

The new Eaux de Parfum are available in 100 ml bottles.
