Extrait ≠ better
I love the classic Baccarat Rouge, this scent is simply special to me: warm, noble, with a smell of burnt sugar and wild strawberry. That's why I was very curious about this version. Unfortunately, it disappointed me.

For the first time, I perceive notes here that I never smell otherwise: iodine, hospital, bandages… Things that others sometimes describe in the original, which I could never relate to - until now. The scent feels cool, sterile, and somehow unpleasant to me.

Such a pity! I prefer to stick with the Eau de Parfum. It is much more harmonious for me and simply more pleasant to wear. However, anyone who likes this "medical" direction might find this version appealing; unfortunately, it is nothing for me.

Warmer Fig Branch in a Cashmere Scarf
My first encounter with Clifton was completely unplanned. I had neither heard of the fragrance nor the brand and simply received a sample as a gift. I sprayed it on my skin without looking at the notes beforehand, and immediately an intense green fig greeted me.

To be honest, this opening briefly unsettled me. The fig was so present that I wasn't sure if the scent really suited me. Very green and a bit earthy (?)

But after a short time, everything softened. The fig stepped back a bit, and a gentle, very pleasant cardamom note came through. Not sweet, spicy cardamom like in pastries, but a bright, almost ethereal accord, very calm and soft.

Later, when I read the fragrance notes, I could also perceive the peach. Some compared it to peach sparkling wine, but that doesn't quite resonate with me. I don't feel any zestiness, no citrus hints. Clifton feels more like a thin, soft cashmere scarf, warm, light, enveloping.

After the intense start, a quiet, elegant scent remains, which integrates wonderfully into everyday life.

I think Clifton is a wonderful fragrance for mild weather, like spring or early autumn. Whether it is warm and cozy enough for winter, I do not yet know. Just as little do I know how it behaves on very hot days. But at the moment, it accompanies me in the evenings in a very pleasant, enveloping way.

Watercolors
Black II is the fragrance that truly impressed me at Widian. Compared to others from the line, it feels less sweet and significantly softer.

Many of my favorite fragrances contain plum and mandarin, but most of the time, they are very masculine compositions. Black II is the first fragrance with these notes that I would personally wear.

The musk is pleasantly soft and rounds off the scent beautifully. The rose is hardly noticeable, which I find very pleasant. It does not push itself to the forefront.

What I often notice in Widian fragrances is a special, almost artificial note that I would describe as a watercolor note. Black II has this slightly as well, especially on the skin, but much more subtle and not intrusive like in other fragrances from the brand. This watercolor note creates an association for me with a beautiful painting.

A very nice, balanced unisex composition.

Sweet but Wearable
„What About Pop“ really surprised me. At first, I thought the scent would be too sweet, maybe even a bit heavy, but it is much more wearable than I expected. The blend of sweet popcorn, vanilla, and warm, creamy notes is very pleasant. It feels cozy and inviting, yet it doesn’t come off as too heavy or intrusive. You can wear it well in everyday situations, but it also fits nicely for evenings. A special scent that stands out without being too loud. I wear it much more often now than I thought I would. Strangely, I don’t really associate it with the cinema. Just a very beautiful gourmand. The cream note is very present, which I particularly like.

Autumnal Cherry

Narcotic Delight was my first fragrance from Initio. At first, I thought it was a typical winter scent and I do wear it in winter, but honestly, it smells more like the end of autumn to me. When you walk home alone in the evening, it's already quite dark and rather foggy, and somewhere in the distance, a single lantern glows faintly through the mist. The last yellow leaves rustle underfoot, and the cool air feels clear, but not really cold yet. That's exactly how this fragrance feels to me.

I clearly perceive the cherry note, but on my skin, it is not sweet. More like a slightly sour cherry, which I find really pleasant. Interestingly, it was totally sweet on my mom, almost like cherry candies, but on me, it develops quite differently. Then comes the tobacco, which gives it a warm depth, really pleasant. And I can also clearly smell the cognac.

To me, the fragrance feels rather feminine, very special, but not too heavy. I later also tested Side Effect, which felt much more unisex to me but quite different, more spicy and boozy.

What bothers me a bit, though, is the longevity. Neither on the skin nor on clothing does it last very long for me, and that's a small downside for such a fragrance.
