Unpopular Opinion but allow me…
Shocked that people claim this as a safe blind buy if you like gourmands. As a self-confessed gourmie (former now), I beg to differ. There’s something in here that catches the back of the throat. Like that feeling when you’ve eaten too much popcorn. I like gourmands but this is gourmand overdose and I simply cannot get on board. Smells very similar to Salt Caramel by Shay & Blue, and also the 71 body spray from Sol de Janeiro. The projection and lasting power are present for 2 hours and then disappear. I love the bottle design and I would have loved this perfume a decade ago. It’s just too sweet/salty and unwearable for me. Also costs too much. Autumn/Winter wardrobe for daytime wear

PS: please don’t blind buy this. First of all it is expensive, 2ndly, it might be unwearable! I think some of these perfumes work better as a novelty rather than something that goes into a perfume rotation. Maybe What About Pop is better layered but for now it’s going on my dislikes shelf! It’s not for me.

An ironic Christmas perfume
It's a lovely perfume that really smells of popcorn, creamy milk and background of vetiver, wood and amber-vanilla on the verge of sweet. Soft, warm and cozy, fits the winter holiday time very well. Also absolutely love the slightly ironic approach with the name, the main ingredient and the whole cheerful pop-art vibe that THoO is communicating through their marketing story.

Don't blind buy
When most people say they like gourmands, it usually means that they like sweet gourmands. But this perfume is salty and not that sweet. I like creative perfumes, but the saltiness in this is just overpowering. It's interesting, yes, but I just don't want to smell like that nor smell it on others. I would even say it's bordering a repulsive scrubber category. If you like salty perfumes, that might be your thing. Just don't blind buy it.

Sweet and salty caramel popcorn.
Sampling The House of Oud What About Pop, a scent inspired by popcorn, with both its salty and sweet/caramel-like aspects, and I think the scent largely captures its inspiration pretty well. It’s both sweet and salty, a satisfying gourmand that’s not too heavy, while still smelling a bit like a perfume. I sense that the buttery aspect of popcorn seems to be missing altogether, however, but there are interesting woody, resinous qualities that more or less make it a gourmand-adjacent combo featuring salty/sweet caramel corn.

Overall, I like it, though, and I could easily see this fitting the bill for many gourmand fans looking for a popcorn-rich scent.

Its retail pricing is $240 for the standard 75ml size, and it’s sold at boutiques like Luckyscent, from which I acquired dabber sample, and Krystal Fragrance, though it’s also available at FragranceX for $150.

A sweet, expensive novelty.
Personal: 6.5/10 - It's fun, interesting, and I respect the unique popcorn note, but it's a novelty.
Mass appeal: 7/10 - Sweet gourmands are usually safe, but maybe not buttered caramel popcorn.
Performance: 7/10 - Good longevity with okay projection. Sticks around without being beastly.
Value: 5/10 - Very expensive for what's more a fun scent than an artistic composition.
Uniqueness: 8/10 - There aren't many popcorn-centered perfumes, but this one does it boldly.
SCORE: 67/100

Full bottle buy? NO, it's a novelty, and an expensive one at that.
Blind buy? NO, the popcorn feels remarkably polarizing.
Recommend? YES, if you love gourmands and want something quite quirky.
Date night? YES, fun and sweet for a casual outing. Don't overspray.
Office safe? NO, not the type of gourmand you'd want to wear in a professional environment.

Pros: Very unique, clear caramel popcorn smell with unique vibes. Fun.
Cons: Expensive, niche pricing for something that's best viewed as a novelty rather than a wearable fragrance.

It's very sweet, and the buttered popcorn accord gets covered by caramel, turning it more into a sweet, desert, caramel popcorn gourmand. It's far from bad, but it's also far from good. I could never wear it, but I think this could turn into a pretty neat sample to spray for people. I don't think I'll wear this more than once or twice on skin. It evolves pretty linearly, being mostly just the caramel, sweet popcorn. It's easy to imagine what this one smells like.

Caramel popcorn in a bottle. Fun once in a while, but that's it.

Not super popcorn-y, just a hint. But that's perfect for this fragrance. It's mainly a reaaaally well made vanilla-salty caramel scent.

Caramel-salty, buttery popcorn, changing over time into warm, slightly burnt vanilla and musk with woods in the base

Caramalized popcorn w/ a lactonic feel & THOO's signature powdery accord. Feminine gourmand. Lasted ~4 hours & peaks at moderate sillage.

It reminds me of Lutens Jeux De Peau and MFK BR540 at the same time. Compared to the two, it has more benzoin cream and is slightly animalic

Pop Corn,
slightly burnt, caramel-like, synthetic, sweet.
I'd rather have Pop, Pop Music...
Overpriced gourmand with no appeal (for me).

Top note is lovely - caramel, vanilla, butter, popcorn! Then it quickly turns rancid, bitter, and in the end, it even burns intensely.

For me, the popcorn was unfortunately not caramelized
& a bit too roasted...
then it’s quite similar to the
"Just Before"
Resinous-woody sweetness :)

If you're looking for a linear and flat gourmand, you're definitely in the wrong place. The smoky note adds refinement. One of my top compliment-getters!
