What is your favourite hydrating base for perfumes? 3

As we all know: Perfumes last and project better on hydrated skin.

Which is your favourite (unscented!) hydrating base for your perfumes?

Mine is CeraVe hydrating bodylotion.

I'm a fan of Nivea repair & care Deep Care Serum! It's very dry where I live and it does the best job for all day hydration!

I have normally been using Men's Gold Bond which is unscented. Recently got Men's Palmer Cocoa Butter which snared me because of the chocolate scent. That chocolate scent puts me in heaven but luckily it only lasts 15 minutes after which I can apply a fragrance.

Very simple. Jojoba oil. I actually prefer organic/raw coconut oil, but it has a specific scent to it.

I absolutely love jojoba oil and raw shea butter or a mixture of both.

In the winter, I've been using pure vitamin E oil under perfume, and I find this has been more helpful than Vaseline, lotion, or even the Optimal Habitat perfume primer.

I can believe that for sure. Perfume primers or moisturizing only when applying perfume is no use really, the trick is to keep the skin hydrated all the time. Perfumes vanish if the skin is dehydrated or if the skin barrier has been damaged. Mineral oils like Vaseline only lock the moisture in but they don't hydrate if there's no moisture at all in the first place. So taking good care of your skin and nourish it is definitely going to work better with perfumes also. It takes more effort but is definitely worth it, especially with drier skin types.

For that matter, I've noticed that lotions, oils, creams etc. may improve longevity, but not the projection/sillage of perfume. It seems to hold the perfume 'in place' but won't allow it to 'radiate'.

So I'm now experimenting with hydrating my skin while showering by using Avene Xeracalm AD soapbar which improves the skin's barrier (instead of using lotions, creams, oils and such) and I do get the feeling this works much better for longevity as well as for projection. I also like how it saves time and the fact that there is no plastic packaging involved.

A Japanese unscented lotion by the brand Curél!

This morning I used Nivea shower oil, it is subtle scented while showering but doesn't linger afterwards so won't interfere with perfume and my Givenchy III (2007) lasts an projects very well today.

Had to come back to this thread to share with you that the newest (at least I think it is new) unscented bodylotion from Ceravé (Intensive Moisterizing Lotion with 5% Ureum) does wonders! At least for me. I finally can enjoy my Infusion d'Iris (2015) Eau de Parfum! It is a bit asif I'm wearing the perfume and the scented bodylotion (which they no longer sell). I walk through the spray after lotioning and then put one spray on each fore-arm and one on upper chest. I'm so glad because I love this perfume so much!!

Thanks! Too bad CeraVe has become so impossibly hard to find/get in Japan. I`m going to try Eucerin fragrance-free body creams to see if they work.

Oh that's too bad, but Eucerin is a very good brand also. Haven't tried their lotions yet and I don't know if it is the ureum (Urea) and/or the other ingredients that do the trick in this new Ceravé. *By the way: I first wrote Hydrating, but the bottle says Moisturizing (they have both, but mine is the Moisterizing one I will edit my comment Smile ).

I love Eucerin. I had been using Amlactin but it has alpha hydroxy acids which can make the skin more likely to burn in the sun, so I put it away for the summer.

This is an awesome idea! Water based hydration and oil based moisturizing mixed, also jojoba oil "mimics" skin's own lipids which is great 👍
