Perfumes inspired by history? 1

I've tested many and many perfumes that have some links or inspiration from ancient Egypt and it's pantheon, and that's ok, cool. I was wondering if someone knew some perfumes inspired by Roman Empire and emperors and historical personalities during that time. Its the history nerd in me.

So I know that in those times what was popular was taking rose petals and soaking them in olive oil to create sweet rose scented fragrances. So I think anything with a sweet rose scent would cover that era and it was worn both by men and woman at the time.

My review about Soprano goes a little into this era if you are interested in reading it. 😊

Something else that comes to mind is Rose Prick Eau de Parfum

Onyx is the most realistic rose fragrance I have ever smelled.

I can’t say for sure they are created with Ancient Rome as their inspiration though. I can say they are beautiful rose based fragrances though.

Not Roman but

Fleur de Peau Eau de Parfum is inspired by Eros and Psyche. You can read the background and story here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Electimuss perfumes.

The brand’s whole concept is built around Ancient Rome, especially themes of power, hedonism, and imperial luxury. Even the name Electimuss comes from Latin, meaning “to choose the best.”

Persephone's Patchouli

Gladiator Oud

Trajan

and many more from this house.

Another one inspired by gladiators is:

Rudis

House of Argos:

Birth of Venus

Triumph of Bacchus Eau de Parfum

Charon's Vail

and other perfumes from this house...

Encens Roi
this might be up your alley! It has Roman chamomile in it and has a very churchy incense type of scent. I can’t say that it’s explicitly inspired by the ancient Roman Empire, but it could help set the story.

Histoire des Parfums will be worth checking out if you want perfumes tied to history and classic fiction stories.

I'm a history lover as well.

Have you read up on Artaban by Astier de Villiate?

They did three historical perfumes, one Egyptian, one Roman and one 18th century, Dominique Ropion was the perfumer and collaborated  with a historian. It is from an actual roman formula.

They come with a pamphlet describing the history, its great.

Deconstructing Eden and Possets comes to mind when thinking about history inspired perfumes, though not just Roman. I love Deconstructing Eden's "Dangerous Women" collection. Lucrezia Borgia being my favorite, smelling of incense and oranges to my nose (I know Lucrezia was Italian but thought I'd share). She also has a "History and Literature" collection. There's also Poseidon . As for Possets a lot of their perfumes are heavily inspired by history and literature as well.

I was super interested in Possets and Deconstructing Eden perfumes! They're a bit hard to find em here, tho, so if someone wants to get rid of them... 👀
