A Trudon Frag called Mortel reminds me of church, incense, pews, and body heat.

Hey ! I heard about Avignon, and it made me look for a church incense scent. If you have any recomendations, please let me know, I would be very interested !!

Caeleste - Archangels

I definitely agree with 'baby ghost' for L'orpheline, it's spicy and smokey without being too warm, almost like it's a shy baby ghost!

To reaffirm two that have already been mentioned, With the Candlestick and Relique d'Amour (2012) are fantastic fragrances for a cathedral in my opinion! I’d sample both but they’re really gorgeous

If you’re looking for a true church incense vibe, definitely try Odyssey AoudPurpose and Signature Extrême All three lean into smoky, resinous and slightly spiritual incense notes that really capture that cathedral-like atmosphere rather than anything sweet or fresh.

I wanted to open a topic to ask about Series 3: Incense - Avignon yesterday. For those who own it, do you find it wearable ? Some people say it smells too musty to be wearable. Is that true ?

It’s very wearable! Not musty at all on me. Just pure church incense.

Love this thread, thank you. If you’d like, please watch my latest musings on Incense.

I own and wear it, although not often. It can be a bit severe. Sometimes I layer it with something that has a bit of vanilla in the base to soften it up - Pas de Velours or Vanille Noire.

If you like dry woody or very spare vetiver fragrances like Tam Dao Eau de Toilette, Encre Noire Eau de Toilette, 10 Corso Como Eau de Parfum chances are good you'll like Series 3: Incense - Avignon

From the same series, I also really enjoy Series 3: Incense - Ouarzazate . All five are worth trying.

Also worth a try: Armani Privé - Bois d'Encens, not sure if it has been mentioned

I totally recommend Bohoboco Olibanum Gardenia !!! It's such a beautiful a church insence fragnance without being super heavy and nauseating Smile

Church incense fragrances evoke the calm, sacred atmosphere of old cathedrals with smoky frankincense, myrrh, and resinous woods. A well known example is Comme des Garçons Avignon, which captures the rich, meditative scent of burning incense.

Church incense fragrances aren’t for everyone, but I really enjoy the smoky and slightly spicy vibe. They’re perfect when I want something different from typical fresh perfumes.

Serge Lutens La Religieuse could be interesting. It has a darker incense feel with a soft floral side.

Temple Noir for an abandoned ruins take.

Santa Muerte for a Day of the Dead take.

If you can find it, nothing beats Sahara Noir for a realistic church incense smell (Catholic/Orthodox regular incense), although Myrrhe Mystère comes close to Lenten incense.

If you've ever been to a Mexican Catholic Church, or at least one in the southwestern US with a heavily Hispanic population, Copal de Terre is pretty close to the incense they use a lot.  It's still available and would be the least expensive option.

shocked no one’s said it yet, but Incense Perfumum gave me those vibes quite a bit.

Nobody ever mentions it but I think that Freakincense is a really nice churchy incense. It’s simple and gets straight to the point, but it’s very well done in my opinion. I also find it comforting and easy to wear!
