The Golden Surprise
Sometimes it’s the little things you wouldn’t expect that surprise you the most. I knew that Galatea doesn’t have the best reviews if you believe YT and other sources. However, since it was very affordable, I added it to my cart. What could possibly go wrong, I thought.
Arrived and unpacked. The first sniff, the surprise. I find it very appealing and it perfectly matches my taste. It’s supposed to be mediocre? I think it’s fantastic. This blend of fruity, smoky leather, with an underlying herbaceousness, makes it particularly special for me. Next to its model "Godolphin | Parfums de Marly," which I think it resembles astonishingly closely, it also has hints of "Tuscan Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford." Towards the end of the scent development, the smoky vanilla predominates.
The sillage is above average and quite okay. What more can you want for the price? It’s actually wearable year-round, well maybe not necessarily at 30°C. It fits well with casual, office, and evening occasions.
Conclusion: I don’t understand why it has such an underwhelming reputation. For me, it’s a real surprise and a fantastic piece.
