SoCal So Chill Hollister 2013

This one really got me by surprise. Its 90% close to Givenchy Pi Neo with the slightest undertones from the original SoCal. I absolutely adore this scent as I sold my Pi Neo and regretted it since. It opens up with a creamy orange note. Subtle floral notes and a laconic coconut smell build he bridge into the drydown, where mostly cedar and ambroxan dominate. The scent as a whole transports a summery/tropical feeling without going into the sunscreen type of territory. However, the longevity as well as the projection is well below average... Overall a great youthfull scent which shares more than a slight similarity with Givenchy Pi Neo. Thumbs Up!

Since I only wear fragrances from A&F, unlike their clothing, I recently convinced myself that I was missing the model Hollister SoCal Chill in my collection alongside A&F Fierce, Hollister SoCal Cologne, and Jake.
At some point, I had tested it in the store and at least had no negative memories of it.
Since Hollister is currently (as of October 2014) offering it for 22 EUR including shipping in their online shop due to a "Sale," I simply ordered it there. Payment via PayPal, fast shipping from Holland. It's all good...

The packaging and bottle are similar to the SoCal Cologne model - only everything is in shades of blue. The cap also feels metallic again.
The scent itself - well, it's nice enough...
Somehow I remembered it being better, but it's currently not available in stores and therefore cannot be tested again.
For my sense of smell, the fragrance dissipates very quickly compared to the brown bottle - however, my surroundings see it differently. Especially women asked again (as with the last A&F fragrances, what I would smell like today?)

Conclusion: Pleasant, versatile, no complaints from those around me, not as ordinary as an ADIDAS, but also not extravagant or flashy like, for example, a BENCH EDT.
For 22 EUR straight up, you can't go wrong.

As a former opponent of the trend label Hollister, I must admit that I have now fallen for this brand. During one of my recent visits to a Hollister store (which is always a 1.5-hour drive for me), I intentionally sought out the new perfume So Cal so chill first. Full of expectations, I sprayed it on a tester and was immediately thrilled. I expected a copy of the predecessor So Cal, but what I got was something completely different. The "new" one does have that typical Californian note that you know from Hollister at the beginning, but it feels a bit more synthetic, yes, a bit artificial, but also very special. The scent is hard for me to describe, as it is unlike any fragrance I have encountered before. This probably doesn't help anyone much here, but I would advise any self-proclaimed Hollister fan to buy it and try it for themselves. My initial overall rating was very high, but when I analyzed the scent more closely at home after a bit more time, I noticed its extreme short-lived nature. After about 2 hours, the synthetic fun is already over, which I don't know from its predecessor So Cal. The prices are, just like with So Cal, not that high, but considering that this is a mass-produced fragrance made in Asia, it quickly becomes clear that you are simply paying for the name Hollister. As I said, I gladly do that as a self-proclaimed fan, but whether So Cal so chill will establish itself just like its family head, I tend to doubt, although due to its popularity, it is within the realm of possibility. The bottle is also the same, only the color differs with a nice-looking blue. I always enjoy spraying myself with the So Cal body spray after showering in the evening, and adding a couple of spritzes of So Cal edt or So Cal so chill makes no difference. Hollister, indeed, has an inexplicable allure for me, a model label that only Superdry can match. I also want to mention that I am aware of the lesser quality of such a lifestyle perfume, but in this case, it simply doesn't matter. In this sense, I will chill for a few more hours on a wave of Hollister and mentally lie on the Californian beach.
