L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Vétiver Issey Miyake 2023

I always knew Issey Miyake exists but I have not taken any interest in the brand, after smelling their perfumes in the airport or perfumery.

The Pour Homme EDT was very popular in the 90s, that I remember .. but still, it did not connected with me at all.

The new version, with the Vétiver created by Marie Salamagne changed all that .. after I sprayed a from a sample on my wrist and a big WOW followed.

Longevity is very good for this scent and the DNA of the perfume is quite special and reminds me of the 90s, having a calming and familiar effect.

With the amount of perfumes I have at home, a new addition is never a good idea .. but this one here, smells so good that a botte will surely follow.

When it says Vetiver, the Leimbacher tests or buys it. I am easily predictable. And surely I am not the only one. There is a reason why Vetiver has become a term even for casual perfume fans, and there are numerous flankers/releases on the subject. So what does Issey Miyake make of the trend? Test, buy, or forget? The bottle with the wooden cap already makes an impression and fits the scent profile…

Anyone familiar with Issey Miyake men's fragrances will hardly be surprised here. Yuzu zings, lemon sparkles, a summery green could hardly be more Asian, lighter, and more elegant. Ozone and clean, also freshly showered, but much nicer than today’s shower gel trend. But the name should not deceive, so everything comes across as a pleasantly darker, woodier, and more vetiver-like experience. Certainly also a bit more masculine. But I know many women who really appreciate the Miyake men's DNA and enjoy it on their own skin, so they will surely manage with a bit more Vetiver and herbaceousness. But don’t get me wrong: it remains a Miyake, it could clearly pass as a summer scent from other companies. Like a noble drawer full of lemon variations, musk on the airy trails of cherry blossoms, like a celebrity dentist before the spring-fresh sunrise at Fujijama.

Conclusion: solid Vetiver infusion to the familiar Miyake DNA - gives the summery zing a decent portion of wood in front of the noble hut!

That is the first thought that comes to my mind and that I can't shake off: sauna.

I want to wear this scent always when I stroll home, exhausted after training and softened by the heat of the sauna.
Deep relaxation and carefreeness envelop the wearer. The woody vetiver is like a cozy hammock and the ginger is the fresh breeze on a summer evening.

Despite its distinctly woody nature, the scent is very fresh and surprisingly light.
Its citrus notes, mixed with sage, almost elevate it to the gourmand category,
but its green woodiness wonderfully counters this and makes this creation appear very balanced and suitable for many occasions without compromise.

For me, this is the perfect year-round scent for formal occasions and especially for work. The sillage is present yet subtle, and while the longevity is not outstanding, it is absolutely sufficient.
It smells perfectly undefinably fresh and is clear and rounded. My wife finds it very masculine. To me, it is professional, elegant, serious, and confident. It is neither too warm and dense nor too fresh and zesty, making it suitable for all seasons. It does not necessarily smell sensual or strikingly deep, which is not needed in a professional context. I clearly perceive the coniferous trees, which, together with the vetiver, gives it a unique, unprocessed freshness.
This fragrance gives me a professional and confident feeling through its constant, subtly noticeable presence during work - exactly the desired effect on my mood. It fits perfectly into my repertoire, as I would not wear it in my leisure time. It develops pleasantly in the first few hours, even though it does not undergo a metamorphosis.
