A limp and lackluster spin-off
It's cedary. Pleasant, fresh. Vaguely citrusy. The sillage cloud is airy and gentle enough to go unnoticed on the street, but if you sit down in an enclosed space, it eventually fills the whole room. Similar to L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Eau de Toilette in the same way every other perfume that came after and tried to mimic it is.
This particular variant is more viscous and woods-centered, but... indecisively so, if that makes sense? Smells like a composition that was forced to do something different, but was afraid to stray too far from its origins – so it ended up neither here nor there. Undercooked and unseasoned.
It lacks the intricacies and complexity of the EDT, but doesn't do anything interesting with the few prominent notes that it has either. Cedar. Fir. Citrus – undefined and faceless unless you look at the notes. A faint florality of the water lily... They're all here, but it's like being in a room full of shy introverts who just stand around awkwardly and stare at floor, not sure what to do with themselves.
It slowly loses sillage over the first few hours. Settles on skin a bit less than ~3 hours in. At this point, while it's faint enough not to be too noticeable, something sour starts setting in. The scent doesn't change or develop in an interesting way – just slowly becomes more sour and bitter as it fades away. Takes about ~6 hours in total to disappear. More disappointing than anything.
You do you, but I'd recommend just buying the EDT. It may be from 1994, but it's miles more modern, thought through and interesting.
