Individuel Bargin
Montblanc Individual in my opinion is the best releases from this house. A very clean and aromatic fresh scent. There is also some sweetness provided by the Tonka bean, Raspberry and the Vanilla notes, There is more than a resemblance to Creed Santal as mentioned on various reviews although this was released first, Also it has been compared to the original Joop. although only slightly. This more refined and not as cloying as Joop . If you dont want to spend too much on a fragrance or just want to add this to a collection this is perfect.

Occasion wise this could be worn all year round apart form extreme heat as there is some sweetness but this is purely subjective, Montblanc Individual is perfect for work environment or socialising during the day or night. The projection / Silage is good for the first 3-4 hours and also above average longevity. Go easy on the trigger as this could potentially be over sprayed depending on skin type. This would make a good blind buy and I have to say this is a quality of this release from Montblanc.

The bottle design is simple but effective.

Sweet, musky fabric softener!
I know, that's really cutting it short but Individuel is just great for office use, though it's kind of a lighter take on an oriental. The opening is sweet, but the sweetness becomes lesser the further you come into the drydown and I find it quite hard to dislike.
Is it synthetic? Yeah well, the opening has some synthetics with that raspberry tinge, but again it gets better and less obvious in the drydown where it turns smoother, fresher and more suave with the combo of bay leaf and cinnamon.

The green notes sparkle in warmer weather but I actually find this to be an all-year kind of scent, as the spices and berries are more prominent in colder temps, while the rosemary, greens and lavender give it a cooler take as the temperatures rise.

I cannot compare it to Joop Homme as I've never tried that one, but comparisons to Creed Original Santal are definitely justified - that Individuel is cheaper and was actually released before Original Santal just makes it even more respectable IMO. Appropriate for any age group, and I could even see it working just fine for enthusiastic youngsters in their early twenties, despite being launched in 2003. Adequate to good performance in regards to both longevity and projection. Overall, a very nice composition by Pierre Bourdon - the price to quality ratio here is really good and you won't offend anyone with this type of scent, so give it a whirl!

The Individual Needs That Differ From Each Person
I noticed Montblanc Individuel by chance while looking for another perfume on Youtube, and a video appeared that examined the cheap men's fragrances with an unquestionably significant impact. Vlogger, like many other people on the web, referred to the similarity with Joop! Homme, the dark purple juice that I loved and wore just released in the early nineties. Hence, I pursued research and found that three colognes share the same vibe and common foundation, with a strong orange blossom initial note, such as Joop! Homme (1989), MB Individuel (2003), and Creed Original Santal (2005). The former has appealing qualities, much bolder, opulent and somehow cloying if worn in the wrong season, but was one of the biggest clubbing bombs, instead, this one is more on the aromatic side. About the latter, I have no idea since I never smelled it. So yes, at first glance, the similarity with Joop! Homme is inevitable if you happened to feel it or use it. However, this is only the first impression, because compared side by side the two share the same vibration, the same cherry syrup accord, but then proceed in two separate ways. Joop! is Joop!, no question about it!

I lastly manage to review this masterpiece, and wonder how come I have refrained from buying this for all this time. I bought it in May and wore it a couple of times, but umm... it didn't convince me at all. It is very sweet but yes compared to many super sweet fragrances it is relatively fresh. The performance of my lot is mediocre, low projection, low sillage, and low longevity, not a beast as you often hear on YouTube or read on blogs. So, what the fuss? Though, I love the overall redolence. As soon as you spray this scent on the skin, it gives you an instant boost of rich aromas, and you're going to notice that raspberry sweetness, delightful with clean laundry nuances but neither gourmand nor cloying. You can get it from the very beginning up to the dry-down where the note is supposed to be. But, there is also a sort of crisp freshness and balminess coming from the aromatic herbs and spices. My chemistry enhances the odorous notes of icy mint, memory balm rosemary, calming blueish lavender, sparkling coriander leaf, and juniper berry, which rise from the skin pleasantly. Instead, I don't get any citrus notes, yet I seem to catch some fruity pineapple accord, but it could be my nose. Other elements provide a woodier spice accord, such as cardamom and juniper. In this initial stage, Individuel is metallic, grey, a little deep. The cinnamon, raspberry, and juniper notes in Individuel give it a slightly fruity aroma which distinguishes it, in my opinion.

A little while later, it soon moves into the heart and leaves a relatively faint but noticeably sillage. There are a bunch of floral notes present, which creates a powdery feel. I can nearly detect individual blossoms like jasmine, violet, and orange flower, surrounded by a touch of green geranium. The interplay between the aromatics and floral notes are fresh and comforting.

Eftsoons, as it dries down, this clean freshness becomes woodier and creamier. The sweetness of the raspberry pairs with vanilla, on top of that sandalwood base. And a touch of amber, which arrives rather quickly for an oriental. A chocolate-like berry note lurks in there, too. Musk and moss hesitate, and I don't get them so pronounced as in Joop!. Thus, a luscious, slightly woody scent, with a creaminess, and dotted with cinnamon spice.

Provocative, some people love it, some others hate it. Though, I believe that this scent grows and grows on you, the more you wear it, the more you appreciate it. On my skin, the overall smell highlights juniper berries, raspberry, vanilla, cedarwood. The sweet, fruity, and spicy aroma makes MB Individuel perfect for those milder seasons where it is neither too warm nor too cold, Spring and Autumn's days fit flawlessly. It features remarkable notes that go well with the nighttime, either. Whether you’re going out to join a dinner party with friends, colleagues, or meeting the family, it gets serious!
The projection is below average, it's not overwhelming, but a bit weak, and I also get moderate longevity, of about half a day, depending on the weather. Individuel is everything but a solid performer, yet more than useful, for most occasions.
About the perfumer, Pierre Bourdon likes to create pure aura scents using complicated formulas and pyramids, and he does it successfully in Kouros, Cool Water, and Individuel. I love the first two more than the third, but Individuel holds its own and is worthy of Bourdon, and of anyone who wears modern orientals. If Creed Original Santal was inspired by this, there should be a reason, right?

This review is based on a 75ml bottle that I have owned since May 2020 (batch code i353, production date 2018-12-19).

Stay well; stay healthy.

~ MB "Santal" ~
When a designer fragrance is compared to a niche typically it's a compliment. If a similar designer scent is routinely considered equal to or better than the niche that is high praise! And this is what you will find in this mainstream Mont Blanc Indivduel as it is often compared to Creed's own Original Santal. I know it sounds over simplified but this edt's opening reminds me of my favorite chocolate and raspberry candy with the dry down reminding me of perhaps the worlds greatest smelling fabric softener, no need to get complicated here. It is very linear and that is just fine by me as this budget scent gives a very desirable sweet yet fresh ride from start to finish. Oh and the bottle design would looks right at home between any of my favorite Chanel's.

Nice and cheap fragrance for colder days
Fabric softener and raspberries in a bottle - this is what I smell. It last all day and then some without problems. I think it is a strong scent, so be careful with the sprays. Use for casual everyday, work/university. Can be used dressed up, since I still think it's a nice clean scent. I honestly have been thinking about giving it away, but when the cold hits this is one I am reaching for.

It's a pleasant synthetic sweet scent. Versatile and for all seasons however it doesn't last. I find it boring and safe. Overall it's ok.

Diabetes inducing dryer sheet opening. Laundry smell remains but sweetness mellows eventually. Similar drydown to L'Homme Intense

Reminds me a bathroom cleaner scent. It's still good. I got complimented on it. I'm still unable to not be reminded of that bathroom cleaner

Nice scent but not fantastic longevity. Similar to Creed Original Santal but fruitier, and Joop Homme but not as overpoweringly sweet.

Blind buy due to the hype (so much for being 'individual' hey) ; scent is not for me, far too sweet. But maybe the ladies will like it...
