Many designer interpretations of modern, highly successful fragrances (
Sauvage Eau de Toilette,
Aventus) copy, sorry, follow their role model, but with a few minor adjustments, especially at the beginning. Sometimes this works more (
Authentic Man,
Explorer,
Luna Rossa Carbon), sometimes less (
MCM Onyx). Sometimes it goes completely wrong. Sometimes it would have been better to simply copy the basis blankly.
Legend Red starts fresh, clinically citrusy, acidic and slightly woody. This clinical synthetics bothers me enormously and also has something of a detergent (but not the pleasant kind). At this point, I'm (still) very disappointed with the fragrance, which some YouTubers have described as an insider tip.
After about half an hour, the tide turns: the cedar is now more prominent, grapefruit and blood orange, which were so unsuccessful here, recede much further into the background, and - Sauvage emerges. Yes, that's right, Legend Red incorporates a good portion of the successful designer DNA from 2015 in the drydown (albeit without pepper). At this point, I'm starting to like the fragrance.
But it is already too late for the overall rating; the scary start cannot be made up for by the finish.
Then there is the mixed performance. Although the fragrance lasts a solid 7 hours on my skin, the sillage leaves a lot to be desired as soon as I spray it on and it loses much of its already low projection power after just an hour and a half. The price is very humane, but this is also reflected in the performance.
The bottle, lastly, is typical of the Legend range in fiery red. I don't really like the basic shape, it's a bit spartan and looks dated in my opinion, but otherwise it's ok. In my opinion, the bright color rather reinforces the impression of old-fashionedness.
Solid fragrance for everyday wear and sports, but not exceptional and you should get used to it at the start.
