Legend Night's bottle has an intense cognac color with contrasting black details inspired by a fine liqueur. And there is an ambery-type scent in Legend Night. It has a morsel of everything you would expect from a woody, aromatic, and spicy cologne for men. It has a smooth and powdery texture, even though it has a fresh/spicy opening with cardamom, mint, and cedar. Night is the fourth chapter of the Legend saga, after the original Legend Eau de Toilette, the Legend Intense, and the Legend Spirit.
On my skin, it opens up with a big blast of candied green apple spiced with a puff of green cardamom and a dab of mint. I can pick up the caramel nuance and lavender from the very beginning. The minty feeling adds deepness but lasts only a moment; it almost immediately disappears. The opening is bright, reminiscent of the natural radiance of man's aura. The start will remind you of something familiar if you are anything like me. Having mint, sage, and cardamom together adds a lot of spice to what would otherwise be another vanilla and apple scent.
The scent turns powdery as the minty edge tones down because the violet creeps in. The violescent lavender is more prominent now, and the apple moves to the back. It shares the herbal facet of the middle stage with the vetiver. The middle notes immediately counterbalance this first impression of refreshing coolness with their warm nobility. This is the point at which the floral notes really come into their own. The precious scents of dry cedarwood blend well with the floral lavender tones and slightly powdered violet.
When the scent approaches the dry-down, I get vanillic sweetness with a touch of warm woods, while fruity apple and spicy cardamom still linger in the back. I pick up a lot of sweetness, but sweet without crossing into gourmand territory. The vanilla note is an exciting take on today's trendy, charming vanilla-centered men's scents on the designer market: it has a dark vibe. Honeyed would be the closest term. Sweet, vanilla, tastes of honey and caramelized sugar, with a bit of apple, sage, citrus, and vetiver. I can smell vetiver and patchouli near my skin, accompanied by subtle notes of dark vanilla and velvety musk.
It is a scent with a masculine slant, but not in an alpha-male way and free from aggression. It best suits the fall and cold winter seasons, definitely an evening and night out type of cologne, but I can wear it even during the day. While the performance will not last an entire workday, it is acceptable for most evenings out and most date nights, quite a good cuddle scent. Although advertised as a night cologne, the fragrance is, to me, very smooth. I think you can get away with using this as an office fragrance. The scent is delightful, sweet, and woody at the same time. Yes, I actually like it a lot.
