A Million Ways to Bore Me

A very sweet fragrance, but also very clean at the same time.

I really can’t stand that kind of combination - either go full-on gourmand with vanilla and fruits, or keep it fresh and clean. But both at once? It’s like serving dessert with grated soap on top. I just can’t...

Now, for those who enjoy that kind of mix, I still find Million Gold for Her extremely generic and basic. So for me, there’s nothing that redeems it.

The epitome of a tired, mainstream, generic, perfumey fragrance

Recently, I've seen people being tired of others using the words "mainstream", "generic", "perfumey" and the likes when reviewing fragrances. I'm sorry, but what else do you want me to use when describing a fragrance I feel fits the definition of those words? For this review, I'll be using those words in a negative way because that's just how I feel about it.

This is the epitome of a mainstream, generic, perfumey fragrance. It was an off-putting fragrance, one I'm glad I only tried on the back of my hand so I didn't have to smell it constantly during the day.

Mainstream: muddled notes, where I only get some weird idea of fruitiness and florals. It also has an abnormal freshness that veers towards sharpness. Smells very artifical and synthetic.
Generic: nothing unique about this fragrance, has already been done before by other designers. I don't sense any creativity behind this fragrance and the overall marketing of it doesn't even fit the scent.
Perfumey: smells exactly like what I'd smell when entering a perfume store. A jumble of different notes; the strongest ones being the weird fruitiness and floral. Smells also weirdly fresh and powdery at the same time.

This is just really bad. It's what I've come to hate in this hobby: a tired fragrance without any creativty or inspiration behind it. I can't believe it took four noses to make this one. I seem to remember another perfume where people were in disbelief that so many noses had contributed to a subpar fragrance. I have the same here. I'd suggest you avoid it, but seeing the ratings on Parfumo (6.9 at the time of this review), makes me believe I'm not the only one thinking it's bad.

My new favorite

The first time I got my hands on this one I received it as a tester outside of a department store & gave it to my boyfriend since he was out off his perfume and my goodness the first time I smelled it on him. nnnI have since been thinking about buying it, but every time I smelled it on the fragrance stick in stores it just haven’t given me the same “wow”, and it wasn’t giving me the creamy, soft warm vanilla as I first remembered sniffing on my boyfriend’s chest. But I keept going back trying it, since i couldn’t get that first whiff out of my mind, and one time I accidentally sprayed some on my finger while spraying a stick and that’s when I realized - it’s the dry down I absolutely go bonkers for. And I instantly bought it. nnThe dry down chemical magic it creates on skin It’s so sensual, addictive and creamy, like feeling the sun on your skin, a warm sweet without being sticky and nauseating.nnnToday I also realised that right before it dries down it reminds me of curious by Britney Spears, upon closer study they do have a lot of the same fresh floral notes so it makes sense, but truly only before it dries down, then they are nothing a like.nnAt first it’s more fresh and the pear is really overpowering in a strange chemical way, but as soon as it dries down and mixes with the skin, it gives a soft vanilla musky jasmine. I am so excited to smell like this, I’m in love and can’t stop sniffing my own wrist. Lawd have mercy I feel like this could be my new aphrodisiac. something I truly would chase myself down the streets for.

The woman in gold at the open window.

The faithful Lady Million has been with me for years, along with some of her flankers.

That's why I was also excited about Million Gold.

I took a spray in the perfumery and then went for a walk with the fragrance.
The fabulous picture of Klimt's "Woman in Gold" appeared before my eyes, the beautiful woman full of elegance, painted in shades of gold.

The scent warms me outside in the winter cold.

Today I find this bottle under the Christmas tree.
Hubby had been paying attention.

I confidently sprayed it four times, with the brilliant sweetness of gold almost blowing me away.
Husband opens a window without a word and I also feel like getting some fresh air.

I wasn't expecting such a sweet opening, even though I like sweet fragrances.
Fortunately, the sweet surge soon subsides and I am left with an elegant, expressive fragrance that reminds me of the Klimt painting again.

Vanilla and tonka were not spared, which is very pleasant after a while.

The window has been closed again, leaving a distinctive, sweet scent through which the rose subtly peeps through.

The longevity is enormous, but one spray is enough for me in future.

Ball chewing gum

For whatever reason, I immediately smell these ball chewing gums that come in sticks. At first glance, I find that the scents seem to be very mixed together and I actually find it difficult to pick out individual scents.
Personally, I still think the fragrance is good. A typical designer fragrance, nothing new and certainly nothing special. A good all-rounder and definitely suitable for the masses. I really like smelling it.
