Raspberry vodka of my dreams!
When Pink Boa was new and there weren't many reviews out, I suspected it would be a scent in the vein of YSL In Love Again - the notes list just gave me that vibe. Well, I was wrong, Pink Boa is something completely different. Raspberry is the main note here, much more prominent than the blackcurrant that made me think of In Love Again. But it also stands out from other raspberry scents, which are often either rosy, very candy-like or both.
And raspberry is my favorite fruit in real life. Name one dessert that isn't improved by adding raspberries and one sweet product that doesn't taste good in raspberry flavor. Whatever you said, I'm sure you're wrong! So, it's no surprise I love this.
Pink Boa is sweet, kind of like a gummy bear, but also fresh and sparkling. A bit like a raspberry soda, but not quite. It has a warm, musky backdrop that keeps it from being too fleeting and simple.
I also love the vodka note here. It doesn't smell explicitly like alcohol, it just tames the sweetness adds a certain extra "je ne sais quoi". Like a dash of vodka in your tomato sauce. Not to say that it smells like tomato sauce in any way, it obviously doesn't. Did I mention that vodka is the only alcohol I trust not to give me bad hangovers? At this point, I feel like this scent is made for me.
The other notes are all rather subtle and don't take center stage. This having some tart, fresh notes like bergamot and blackcurrant makes sense when you know it, and so does patchouli. It's too little to call the scent a fruitchouli though, it's blended in with the musk and amber. I'm happy to report I don't get rosemary or basil and don't miss them. Too much green would have ruined this unique pink raspberry.
