The best smelling bug spray?
I'm going to go on a bit of a rant before I get into the review. Because call the title sarcastic, but I reeeally don't understand certain terms some reviewers or snobs use to describe certain colognes. Things like 'juvenile' or 'teeny bobber', what in the Jeremy fragrance?
Speaking about things teens wear, I don't know if some of you remember what school was like, but most of my mates in school didn't wear anything. Most of them either smelt like BO or at best, they put on Lynx (that's AXE for you Americans) Dark Temptation or something similar. They never ever wore colognes.
So, I get a tad annoyed with some terms like 'juvenile' or 'old-man' smell because in reality, everything I've owned has been one of those two things on Fragrantica reviews. So in essence, every sweet smelling scent I own is "technically" childish. Or for teens. Bunch of bull.
Eros EDP in a vanilla heavy citrus BOMB. There's a distinct bitterness in the opening that transitions into a smooth and sweet apple/lemon scent. But underneath it all, there is a 'fresh' quality I get from smelling this? It's kind of aquatic, even though calone or similar notes aren't listed.
I can see why some people think this is like an air freshener, but I think that really only applies to the opening as it's a bit harsh. Once it dries down, the sweeter aspects are brought to the forefront, and it becomes a lot more palatable. I definitely get a peppermint accord, but it's tucked away throughout its wear. I think in a way, that's a good thing. If the aromatics were stronger, I feel like it would be off-putting. But because it's decently balanced, Eros never comes across as offensive. To my nose at least.
Projection wise, this can project FAR with 5-7 sprays in the first hour. So, you need to be a tad careful with spraying this. Overwise, and considering this is relatively affordable from discounters, I'm not sure why some people hate or disregard this fragrance?
Perhaps the title of 'clubbing king' is one the reasons. Another phrase that makes my eyes roll. I feel as though Eros can be worn anytime, anywhere. It's not necessarily a 'young person’s scent', if that makes sense? Meaning I could see someone in their 30s and 40s pulling it off, and it wouldn't seem out of the ordinary?
As for me, I'm 24. I enjoy Eros a lot. I don't think it's the best, but that's only because I prefer sweeter colognes, or gourmands. It's an easy recommendation, especially if you can find it at discounters.
