The popular gem
This is one of scents that my partner and I agree on. We both like it, especially the spicy beginning: pepper, ginger and cardamom… what is not to like?! When it warms up, the flower heart of this is sweet and beautiful. Finally the base is a dark, woody musk that ends the journey so well. It is in my top 20.
I own 9 Versace scents and this is, by far, the best. The other are all pleasing - and a bit anonymous. Whereas Crystal Noir has character. It is a memorable scent and I love the bottle, both the design and the colour.

Not for me
I had hoped I would like this scent, but for me it's just not as good as many say. Personally, all I smell is Johnson & Johnson baby oil. Supposedly, this has been reformulated recently, without the coconut scent. I wish it had that scent like the original, as what I've read of the old version seemed lovely. At least it lasts a long time - for those that do enjoy it!

Fresh and well-blended designer fave
Crystal Noir opens with a spicy fresh ginger, cardamom, and pepper zinging over gardenia, coconut, and orange blossom. I'm not much of a floral lover, and find white florals particularly cloying much of the time, but the top notes in this one do a lot to keep the experience refreshing. The coconut is not dominant to my nose and does not smell like sunscreen. It just adds to the creaminess alongside the sandalwood. It reminds me of a nice ginger soap for the first couple of hours. It has good projection and sillage during this time and people comment favorably fairly often when I wear Crystal Noir. In the second or third hour the spicy top notes and florals start fading, giving way to a creamy, sultry sandalwood and light amber musk. Most of the sillage is gone at the end of the second hour, but the projection is still there at 2-3 inches. It is only slightly floral in the dry down, and wonderfully woody. The skin scent lingers up to ten hours later.

She is a powerful girl, so I recommend light application. One or two sprays is all that you need. I wear this fragrance day or night in all seasons.

Doesn't disappoint
Holy gardenia.. I'm not sure why people are saying the florals are suble or that this smells tropical, definitely not on me. The initial spray and even into dry down, the gardenia and orange blossom go hard in this fragrance. So if white florals aren't your thing, I don't think this scent is the one for you. I have to say though, this is such a smooth, well blended, creamy scent that just feels super comforting to me. It makes me picture jumping into the softest bed and wrapping myself up like a burrito in a thick down comforter and enjoying a cool, crisp fall breeze coming through open windows.

As I mentioned, on me initially this goes on white floral heavy, with a hint of coconut that I think is the primary reason this fragrance smells so dang smooth and creamy for the entire time I wear it. The florals settle but never completely let go, instead they simply "allow" the rest of the notes to have their moments to shine. The base notes are all balanced beautifully, not one standing out more than the other, sitting just below the florals to ground this fragrance and keep it from turning into a powdery, flowery mess. The spices are there but not in a pungent attention-grabbing way, they hover so delicately you might not notice immediately that they're there. Although many here are saying they instantly smelled the spices - I didn't smell them right away. Maybe it's because I might be more sensitive to florals and those stole all the attention at first.

There's a soft, rounded quality to this scent. It's slightly sweet, slightly powdery, definitely feminine. Certainly a warmer fragrance, best suited for the night or late afternoon. Although I can see this being worn during the day as well just as fine. The warmth, spiciness, and coziness makes this more of a Fall/Winter scent for me when the weather is colder. Despite being more appropriate for the night, the "Noir" in the title does throw me off. When I think of darker leaning fragrances I picture a sexy, mysterious scent. This isn't at all sexy nor mysterious. It's comforting, it's safe, it's feminine, it's youthful and mature all at once, but it's not an edgy, sultry fragrance like it's name might imply.

Crystal Noir is a strong, lasting scent. It's not knock a person to the next dimension strong but I think most people will be happy with it's performance to price. Just for testing sake this one time, I applied Coach by Coach on one wrist and Crystal Noir on the other near the end of the night and Crystal Noir is completely overtaking Coach of which I think moderately under-performed in general, but that's a different review for a different fragrance. A few hours later and it's still going strong as I type this.

Overall, a lovely scent that I don't think will leave most people disappointed with at all.

better than the edt!
disclaimer: i tried the edt first & went through 2 full bottles. i now have a 10 ml decant, but i recently decided to buy a sample of the edp to compare. also, i'm almost certain this is post-reformulation (i have no idea what it used to smell like).

i feel a tiny bit of regret getting the decant of the edt b/c i ended up liking the edp more! edt is more musky, but edp is more floral. it's a more creamy floral, & i actually appreciate the coconut here (i typically don't care for coconut in fragrances). the edp is also MUCH stronger than the edt on me: edp lasts 9+ hours on bare skin while the edt lasts 4 hours over vaseline + lotion.

so while i really like both, edp is the clear winner!

Black peppery soap. Sounds weird, smells amazing. Creamy florals as a base of a spicy soapiness.

Perfect for date night. Definitely feminine but has somewhat of a masculine undertone which I usually would hate but this is nice.
