So, today I will describe one of the new Acqua Colonia fragrances, which could even bring a little Christmas anticipation to some. Because here, on one hand, vanilla is included. Well, in that sense, that's nothing special, as vanilla is found in an extremely large number of fragrances. But vanilla often smells very good and reminds one, especially in November or December, of delicious cookies or other baked goods that are more frequently made or bought during the Christmas season than in summer.
Secondly, there are also chestnuts in this fragrance. This is also a nice indication of autumn and Christmas, or the Christmas market, where you can also enjoy roasted chestnuts.
Of course, you can also roast these delicious chestnuts at home in the oven. They always taste heavenly, and the aroma during the roasting process is wonderful. The only thing that can slightly spoil the enjoyment is if you can't get the annoying inner skin of the chestnuts off. And if you frustratingly decide to eat them with skin and all, they taste terribly bitter :DD
Well, they do smell really nice, so those who like this scent might also enjoy the following Colonia :)
The scent:
You immediately smell the vanilla at the beginning. Very powdery, very sweet, very nice. And there are the chestnuts too. Of course, they smell quite sweet together with the aforementioned vanilla, but you can still tell that these are chestnuts. Because you can simply recognize the wonderful, slightly woody-green-bitter scent of these edible chestnuts.
However, the vanilla is significantly stronger, and the chestnuts quickly fade into the background, which I find a bit disappointing. It’s almost as if you greedily devoured all the delicious chestnuts quickly, regardless of the annoying inner skin that just won't come off :D
Even a bit later, you smell much more vanilla; overall, unfortunately, the vanilla becomes the main scent note a bit too quickly, so that after less than 30 minutes, you can hardly perceive anything else. The scent is nice, but unfortunately also very simple and soon becomes a bit one-dimensional.
The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is, as one would expect from a vanilla scent, quite intense and can be smelled very well for a long time on oneself or around oneself.
The longevity is also quite good; the scent lasts well over ten hours.
The bottle:
The clear bottle has classic old-fashioned decorations in the glass and features a light brown label on the front. The cap is chrome-plated, cylindrical, and has a hose-like ring as decoration at the top. It’s not anything particularly special, but still quite nice.
So, I find this scent good, yes, really nice even. But unfortunately, I also have to point out two major criticisms: First, I felt that the chestnut scent unfortunately dissipated a bit too quickly. This brings us to the second point, namely that the scent, after a very short time, actually only smells of vanilla. This does not differentiate it from the 1000 other fragrances that also only smell of vanilla, making it nothing special anymore.
On a positive note, it should be mentioned that the vanilla, of course, also smells wonderful here. And for the fact that the vanilla smells good and not synthetic or overly sweet, you get a great scent with this note for a particularly low price, which radiates just as intensely and lasts as long as other more expensive fragrances. So, if you don’t have a great but simple vanilla scent yet, you should definitely give this one a try. Unfortunately, it seems that the scent is limited, so I don’t know if it can still be found.
And now… folks, give me some tips on how to best peel off that annoying inner skin of chestnuts; it drives you crazy. If I can't get it off, I might just throw them in the fireplace! … well, if I had a fireplace :D
So, the cat will get them instead, and he will surely throw them around until they end up forever lost in the deepest corners of cabinets and sofas… :D
So, I hope you enjoyed this comment too (well, certain part-time demigods probably didn’t as always, tsss...) and wish you a nice evening. And also a good appetite if you now feel like having some chestnuts :DD
